  1. Welcome to LA's problem a couple years ago. Outstanding pitching with no offense. How many 1-0 games did they lose? A great rotation is good but you need some type of offense or else you will make a close 2nd in the division. Even if you do make the playoffs, to make it past someone like Angles, Yankmees, and Bosox is hard with no offense.
  2. Sorry to say it but that's one of the worse trades I've ever heard about. Were going to give up JG, who we know is going to get a decent performance every year for pretty decent money. Marte who is one of the best left handed releivers in the MLB and maybe even our only power source in the club? For an inconsistent, overrated, overpaid, whiney SP? KW should get fired and shot like someone said if he would do something like this.
  3. I just hope he doesn't end up like Cotts last year if thats the case. Cotts was doing fine until he was forced to be the fifth starter. As a matter of fact, Cotts was on his way to becoming a very dominant left hander. I know his runners inherited was sick as well as his holds. He was doing a very fine job until that start. I hope this time around nothing like that will affect him.
  4. If the sox do sign him I will be satisfied. I won't be happy because we should have been signed Perez which in reality would have moved everyone up one spot in the rotation but I am satisfied we got a set 1-5. I am scared for the whole team though, most of it is a bunch of question marks that can end up a 3rd or 4th place team. However, if "the ball bounces the right way for us" we can be serious contenders. We only really know what to expect from two guys out of our 5 man rotation (pending the signing of Duque.) We know MB will be a horse and we know JG is going to put up solid #5 starter numbers(an ERA around the 4's.) We don't know what FG, JC, or OH can do in a full season with the sox. Can anyone get the stats for FG and JC once they were White Sox? I know they weren't great but it's better than what we had. So for that reason I am scared for our team. If we do sign El Duque I hope management knows how injury prone he is and what precautions we should have with him. His start should usually be skipped if theres a day off I think to keep him fresh for the post . In all, I am excited for this team, it has taken a HUGE turnaround since the end of the 03 season. I am excited to see what the new face of this team can do but also sad because my favorite players are gone. It's time for a change though, I can't wait until the season starts.
  5. This is kind of OT but I rather just post it than make it a new topic. "Rusty Greer is expected to decide on his playing future within a week. If he does play, it's a good chance it will be with the Twins as a DH, says the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Greer, 35 and a career .305 hitter who hasn't played since 2002 because of injuries, has talked to Minnesota GM Terry Ryan and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire." How did we miss this guy, snatch him from the Twins NOW!! We've already lost the division. Just because of what I said watch him kill us next season.
  6. I want to wake up tomorrow and read we officially signed AJ, and are giving Miller, Perez, and Eck and/or Cora a long look. It's a dream but hey it could happen...
  7. Even though that won't happen it would be a bad ass offseason. Either Eck or Cora but I don't have any confidence in KW right now.
  8. Even though your right I hope your not (that sounds weird.) I hate the fact that for someone good to come here they either have to give us a huge discount or acquire them via trade. I am so tired of it, you are not going to get many players like Dye, they need to be aggressive and get what we need because low balling players is not going to land them here.
  9. I think were in real deep trouble. I was exagerating when I said we were f***ed but were are in trouble. No middle infield, 2B or 3B backup. We have Valdez but he still has to prove himself. We have 2 backup catchers as of now, hopefully we sign Pierzynski . You can argue on this but we still have a need for a long releiver. I hope we are set with what we have but I don't know.
  10. I agree with you, I said I don't think KW's first intentions of the deal were to pocket the money, but as time passes by the market for decent to good SP is getting slim.
  11. I wasn't going to make a thread on this at first but for some reason I kept thinking about it and I ended up doing it anyway. Everyone is s***ting in their pants and about to BBQ KW for not signing a SP yet with the money dumped from the Spod trade. Every sox fan knows that another year of the 5th starter wheel will not crown us central division champions. Now everyone is wondering if this was just plain and simple... a salary dump. Well while I think that it could be a possibility I don't think that was the initial thought by KW. The main reason I made this thread is so you guys can read this quote from an article from MLB.com about LA's participation in the RJ trade. "We're holding it up," DePodesta said in a Los Angeles radio interview. "We want to make sure the trade is in the best interests of our '05 club. As it stands, the only way it's attractive is if we do other things alongside. As a standalone, it's not helping our Major League team. It isn't a done deal at this point. (Other moves would) have to be simultaneous. You don't make a deal like this and be left naked. There's a high level of activity and if we get the pieces in place, at the end of the day we'll have a better team." Obviously this was stated by Depodesta about the RJ deal. Very much like our situtation, except KW pulled the trigger to soon. Don't you think if the Brew crew really wanted Caballo he would have agreed with the trade and gave them his word about the deal once he signs a SP? As Depodesta said, unless he makes another move pretty much at the same time it doesn't improve the team. KW should learn that, we got a hell raiser on the basepaths in Pod but our main intention for this trade was to sign another SP with the money dumped. Why didn't KW do this is my question? Now were f***ed... what do you guys think? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp
  12. His last year in the organization? That's a joke, JR would be willing to give him the job for life just because he dumped CLee's contract.
  13. I'm losing confidence in Washburn fast. I thought last year was a rebound year for him, but he didn't even improve at all, so if the sox signed him I would be a little worried even though another lefty to the rotation would be great. There's pretty much no chance of Odalis coming here so Washburn would be the only decent fallback option. I am actually thinking of El Duque more now that Clements gone. You guys think hed be worth to look at? I would rather have someone who has been successfull in the past couple years than the rotating wheel in which we will fail at again. I am also scared they will rush Bmac just because Grilli,Diaz,Munoz and co didn't work out, and that isn't good at all. KW needs to do something though because if he doesn't he's going to be a fried turkey come Soxfest.
  14. How many times does it have to be said that wins are not something to judge a pitcher on too much...
  15. More nervous than having Grilli/Diaz/Scho/rotating wheel as your 5th?
  16. You know if I get out of school tomorrow only to hear the sox pretty much signed Clement I will go insane. We all know he isn't the pitcher to go insane over but to have a rotation like we would if we got him, that would be insane. I hope I do come from school tomorrow and see this. Either this or Perez.
  17. Kenny needs to up the offer on Clement because if he doesn't we will not get Perez.
  18. My two favorite sox players leaving in one offseason... damn that hurts, I need a new name. Wish you the best in Milwaukee Caballo
  19. What is all this talk about signing Alvarez for the 5th spot if we get Johnson? Didn't he re-sign with LA? You have got to be kidding me they will not get our best outfielder in Rowand, our best releiver in Marte, our 4th starter in Garland (who would dominate in AZ), our best OF prospect in Sweeney and another top of the line prospect for one year of Johnson!!! I agree Everett instead of Rowand is a HUGE difference but to give up Garland, which still leaves a hole in our rotation, to give up our top prospects and Marte for one year of Johnson is insane. Dammit!! I gaurentee you KW would do this type of deal if true.
  20. So now you want to add Burnett to our rotation in which Contreras is in so we can have Burnett injured and Contreras as well? Wouldn't it suck if they both went down? I don't want such big risks in our rotation. I will settle for Perez or Clement.
  21. So he can end up on the DL... yeah f*** who we give up for him too right?
