I guess it was time for Carlos to move on
Whitewashed in '05 replied to YASNY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think this is such bulls***, I don't believe Carlos would say that, and even if he did feel that way he wouldn't say it. Just because Cowley is respected doesn't mean that he wouldn't make s*** up. As for Carlos' situation being addressed, Ozzie did bench him a couple days didn't he, or was that someone else? Carlos' problems were out there but Cowley didn't have to do it after he left. I thought Carlos was great, I considered him my favorite -as many others did- because he treated the fans well. What went on in the clubhouse is totally different. If his attitude was the reason he was shipped out then fine, but to bad mouth him after he is gone is just childish. -
SHHH!! I have to think of one first.
-
What? Royce Ring was available in the Rule V? Why didn't we pick him up, did something happen to him with the mets??
-
I have a feeling we will sign a SP within the next couple days, and a real good chance it could be him.

Lee for SPod, Vizcaino, and PTBNL

NOOOOOOOOO!!! We BETTER sign a good FA pitcher, -
Only if he signs a contract extension, if not I am fine with Vazquez. Also, even though KW has said there is no money available to sign FA's I still think the sox could sign O. Perez which would be great. As long as we get one of the names mentioned above without giving up a starter we are in great shape.

This will never happen but the only way the sox do resign maggs is if maggs still isn't signed in May because teams don't have faith in his health and he just signs back with us just to prove so. That will never happen though, maggs hates the white sox front office and Boras represents him so maggs is gone. This isn't even a possibility though, just a case in which they would only be able to resign him. -

Maggs said that he can run but can't jump... says he will be ready by opening day. He is not going like the offers he gets because if the team thats offering him a contract isn't even sure hes healthy he'll be lucky to get 5 mil. That is unless he deal with mets or az who are totally morons. -
Why would we give up Lee AND Garland? Wouldn't that eliminate the purpose of setting the rotation? We better get two SP if we deal both of them because your not eliminating the hole in the rotation. Sure it improves the rotation but u guys forget to believe we havent made the playoffs because we don't have a 5th starter and if we do this trade we still wont have one. I am also very worried KW is going to get fleeced and will let Bmac go. Although if we do get Huddy we better have the window for contract extentsion first. Having Hudson at the top of the rotation with Garland being the 5th starter would be totally insane.

anyone hear what levine said?
Whitewashed in '05 replied to thelatinoheat_30's topic in Pale Hose Talk
KW said it himself on the sox official site on the Jermaine Dye signing article. I think this is bs though. So if the trade for RJ would've happened for PK and co was real he was going to cost a lot more than PK was. Not only that but if the sox were close to signing Vizquel and Wright, where did that money go? This is total bs, they say that every offseason, I am waiting for them to sign O. Perez dammit! Your going to tell me that KW is not going to get his starter when he knows thats our reason for failure these past couple seasons? Wether its via trade or not the sox will get another starter. Suppose the sox do deal PK for Vazquez, you think they are going to let RG takeover when they said it themselves he wasn't a major league stater? No they will sign a backup or trade for one which will cost money thus making us go over payroll. I smell bs on this, just another way of flying under the radar. -
When did the sox let Ruddy Yan and Ryan Wing go? Have I been in a corner somewhere because I don't remember this happening. Anyone want to refresh my memory??
-
KW needs to offer Odalis a nice contract right now! I have been wanting this guy and now it looks like he could be one of our only options. Now it isn't about whats going to fit perfectly its about what will be best for the team.
-
I swear we better sign Perez, Clement, and/or Javy or atleast someone on that level because this is bulls***. We always overpay with prospects, why not overpay with money for once. Wright wasn't a Cy Young option but damn he could've gave us a solid 1-5. I love the White Sox but some times they make me wish I could stop being a fan in the snap of my fingers... I'm just so damn disappointed right now.

Can everyone just stop whinning and get back to the point of the thread? These threads get bigger and bigger just because of stupid crap, none of it has to do with the actual topic.
-
Usually everyone gets a little worse than they are away from home but I would be interesed in seeing opposing pitchers ERA at the cell. You also have to consider the fact that we are a lot better at home which will affect their ERA's also. Where can you find those types of stats? Back to the main topic I would rather take a look at Odalis since I think he is a lefty. I believe he will be better in the long run than Wright. Wright is just an incident waiting to happen.
-
I know the cell has become more of a launching pad every year so is there anyway that they can tweak that? I mean it would be easier on our pitchers and we all know pitching wins games so have they ever considered making more foul ground space and/or moving the fences a little bit more back. I think it could help our pitchers a lot but would it be a great idea? I haven't heard anything like this before so that's why I am wondering could this benefit us?

A Todd Ritchie one would be the best
-
I am sorry but having Harris in center scares the heck out of me and I am not the only one. It seemed like whenever he was out there he would always take the wrong route to the ball. Not only that but it also seemed like the opposing team would always take an the extra bag with him out there. I don't think his arm is strong enough and he just isn't made for the OF. Keep him on the bench or trade him. He did a decent job when starting 2nd at the start of the season but once Ozzie took him off in favor of Uribe and then stuck him back on there he tailed off.
-
Who are these 1-4 you speak of? What year are we in? If in 04 looking towards the 05 season you are wrong. Buehrle and Garcia are solid pitchers but neither is a #1. Contreras is a good #5 a crappy 4 and a s***ty 3. Then you got Garland who like Contreras can be lights out but can also be throwing BP. I am sorry but we do not have a solid 1-4. If we add a real ace and push everyone up then it makes the team a lot better since we have 3 solid pitchers which makes the last two argueably good.
-
I have no condifence in Contreras at all. Everyone keeps saying "all he has to do is throw his fastball more" well haven't they been telling him that since he got to the MLB? What makes you think he is going to listen? If we could package Contreras and Lee or Konerko to someone for an ace and some high prospects it would be great. We get an ace through a trade and we sign someone like Odalis Perez and be set but we all know that won't happen.
-
Yeah... What he said.
-
I think everyone is forgetting something more important than Crede that happened tonight. WE CAME BACK!!! How long has it been since the sox have come back like that? Sure its against a bad team but s*** they did it. The reason I believed so much that the sox were making the playoffs this season is because of their comebacks. Comebacks show that the team doesn't give up and play with heart and thats what lead me to believe we were going to make it. Then... everyone started getting into slumps and injuries and it all went down south. Next season I really hope they can play like this EVERYGAME!
-
That sounds like their playing terrible...
-
I am sorry but you can have the best starting pitchers on the market but without a good bullpen and a decent consistent offense, you won't win.
