  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) I think it's pretty universally known that Buehrle has a sick pick-off move. The point I am trying to make is that a lot of players on the sox have their own great talents that stand out but it isn't always seen on magazines like it would be for any other popular organization.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) i said grilli had a higher upside but maybe after that surgery he just doesnt have it who knows. All i know is i didnt enjoy watching him so now only got to get rid of Borchard Yeah I agree, It just appeared to me like you said that both Grilli and Diaz performed evenly.
  3. I was reading an article from espn.com about how Brian Anderson from KC has probably the best pick off move and on there the Padres coach Rob Picciolo mentions how Anderson and a few others like Buehrle have such good pitch outs you don't notice them trying to pick u off. It isn't a big deal but its good to see some players on the sox getting some positive recognition. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1977698
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) grilli was a good prospect once but had surgery, maybe after another year his arm will get better. Although it didnt look like it Grilli had probably a bigger upside than diaz although what we saw certaintly wasnt better than diaz. I think Diaz was better than Grilli. Just because Grilli probably had more wins doesnt mean anything. Atleast Diaz got us a win when we needed it in the scrub series and some solid relief, but the only reason Grilli won was because of the offensive outbursts we had when he was on the mound.
  5. QUOTE(silver and black @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) I don't care... As a die hard Sox fan, it just pisses me off to see people rout for both teams. In the crosstown series, you must pick one... Most who rout for both teams usually go scrubbies... and of course once the sox go good, here comes the bandwagoners!!! Gotta agree with him on that one. Even though theres some people who just want to see Chicago on the board u still have to pick one or the other when the time comes. It pissed me off to see people root for the scrubs during their postseason run when they were going to sox games with me during the reg. season... Here its all :fthecubs
  6. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Maybe it is just me, but I would like more than 6 people on the team who can speak fluent english. Thats kind of an asshole thing to say, I think most of us care about winning more.
  7. You never hear Marte's name on the list of best relief pitchers.
  8. I have a video of espn's top 9 fights it includes the fights of George Bell and Sele at 8 and Ventura and Ryan at 1. Theres also some other cool ones with Sweeney breaking Weaver like a twig.
  9. Can someone explain the whole thing with teams releasing players?? Does the team pay the player the rest of the contract, the rest of the year or what?? Need someone to explain the details.
  10. I would think that the MLB makes all of its club sites dont you think? So in a way, the Twins didnt steal our font, the designers for MLB just used similar font for Twins.
  11. My question is so what if hes not gonna get any better. Right now hes a decent pitcher in general and a good 5th starter. For the past couple seasons everyones been b****ing about our fifth starter problems well now he is our fifth. Would you rather let him walk and have our pitching prospects get rocked than having him 5th if hes our only option? No your gonna keep him here. If you have someone else better to replace him then go ahead. Whats everyones beef with Jon?
  12. Say Crede does solve the problem in the box, with his pretty good defense, do you think the sox will just use him as trade bait when Fields comes up or do you think they will make Fields learn a new position? If it does work out that way what would happen? I mean theres lots of possibilities that could happen, either one of them could be traded for an impact player but say the above scenario does happen what will the club do?
  13. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) I have sigs turned OFF because, while they may be signs of individuality, from your sigs, I'd rather not know quite a few of you as individuals Actually, two of the reasons I turned off sigs and avatars is that (1) a couple of people had politically-charged avatars or sigs that I didn't like (this is a SOX board), and I didn't want their political beliefs getting in the way of how I responded to posts (and to tell you the truth, I can't even remember who was what now, which was the point); and (2) DonkeyKongerko's sig mesmerized me a little too much. For some reason I just watch that chick doing her dance over and over...it's a little weird. lol...man, I do the same thing sometimes.
  14. This guys pretty old but they need some major help since they will have like 3 rookies in their rotation. I will be pissed if all of them pitch decently because we can't even have one of our minor leauge pitchers take the 5th spot and doing a decent job but they can have 2 or 3. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp whoops misspelled the title...
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) what ever happened to sean lowe? The last time I saw him he was with KC. He pitched against us and got rocked, remember PK hit a granny which everyone thought Beltran caught including Lowe himself and he missed it? I think this was....02?
  16. I wouldn't doubt it, KW was after him I think last year there were talk about swapping him for Valentin (or was that supposedly the trade for Itzuris from LA?). I am sure KW has had talks with the Phillies about him, he has speed, decent avg exactly what KW is looking for. If it could be done KW will do it but he also has to agree with the players he's giving away. This gives the sox more options, Uribe at 2nd with Harris as his backup not a bad idea. I am not too familiar with Rollins just that he has speed and is decent defensively a lot of people here wouldn't mind acquiring him but theres a handfull that won't. How much is he making?
  17. Beltran to Mets for 119 million, heard it on the radio on the way home from work on espn radio 1000 just now.
  18. I am very very excited that we signed AJ, before it was official I thought it would be great but now I am just very happy, I seriously can't wait to see him play on the South Side.
  19. I would like to hear some of the sox players expound their feelings on the sox signing AJ. I think Buehrle said that whatever makes the team better he is up for and I hope the rest are thinking like that. It's a way different team now than what is was when AJ last played against us so I don't think he'll have a prob fitting in. I can't wait for the season to start, I am really eager to see how AJ plays against his former team. I read on the Twinkie board that the coaching staff would constantly remind him of Mauer and go as far as putting notes in his locker, so I am pretty sure he is going to give it his all against them. They also said that like us, they have trouble against their former players. Remember Mike Cameron against us? I also would like to hear Oz and KW on the signing.
  20. Forget Coop, bring back Nardi, he'll instantly fix our rotation.
  21. Are you being sarcastic? You can like who ever you want, s*** you can have Harris as your favorite player of all time but to try and trade Rowand would be dumb. Theres no other team that values him like we do, so even if you would trade him we wouldn't be getting what we think he is worth.
  22. Rowand is the closest thing we have to a .300 hitter, how can you say trade him. Also to say he is not above avg in defense is crazy. He plays hard, he has heart, why in the world would you want to trade him?
  23. I never go to other teams message boards but I was curious what the twins fans are thinkin right now about the sox. Some think twins are in trouble some don't. They seem to hate that Spod is with the sox because he was "a thorn on their behind" as they said it in interleague play. They also think that Santana, Radke, Silva, Lohse, Mays is way better than our current rotation. Wether they have a great team or not the sox need to bust ass because they are the defending division champions. I totally forgot about Mays who can dominate us when he's on point. I am anxious to see how the two teams fair against each other because both have some changes in 05.
  24. Flip Contreras and Hernandez in the rotation.
