  1. I don't blame Owens or Haeger. here they go through a full minor league season--Owens basically his first full one--and are tired. For them to be at full strength next year, they need a break. Look at Arnie Munoz a couple years ago: had a great minor league season and winter league and then the next season, he did poorly.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) yeah, I have checked both Philly boards I know and the Cubs boards. No one says anything, I don't believe it.
  3. Matt Murton & Mark Prior >>>> Bobby Abreu and Jerome Williams
  4. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) I'm hoping for Brown to melt down, quit after this season, and we swap picks with the Knicks in '07 and draft OJ Mayo #1...I can dream if I want to. Greg Oden?
  5. Dee just doesn't know how to lose. He is the face of Illini Sports and I am not sure anybody can take that away from him for the next 10 years.
  6. thanks for the site. Nearly $400 for a friend and nearly $100 for my family.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Thats correct. There are a few others that are registered here and a couple that have made a couple posts, but those are the two well known ones. Cotts, Haig, Heath, Bmac and some others are other registered members on this site (although neither of them post much). what is B-mac username?
  8. I think we get 102, but an significant injury could bring us back to the low-to-mid 90's.
  9. I think Vince may have moved to the top of many draft borads yesterdau ahead of Bush and Leinart. Bush still looked great against a great team, but not amazing. While, Young seemed on another level than anyone against a great team.
  10. damn, they are all gone it appears.
  11. USC is so damn good. But their D will be suspect with how well Texas spreads their receivers.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) good signing, I'm a firm believer teams should be built from the lines on both sides of the ball. The no ACL thing really isn't a huge deal with O-Linemen, many damage them, but it's not needed for their jobs. I really like Angelo's cap management, they honestly don't expect Garza to be here 6 years, but it helps spread the cap hit. Bears have added some good players without killing their cap with huge bonuses. Like with Tait, instead of a ridiculous bonus, I'm pretty sure they gave him a huge first year salary, that way he was basically a normal cap player after year 1. They massively front loaded the contract to keep KC from matching the offer.
  13. Colts, even with Urlacher, we can't keep Indy to less than 20. And we can't score more than 20 versus Indy's D. Thus, Indy beats us.
  14. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) FA Albeit, s***ty minor league free agents.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) The only way you send a pitching prospect AND Sweeney with Contreras and Uribe is that we either get 1/2 of Tejada's contract paid for or a reliever and a lower spect back. Per reliever, I like this guy: John Parrish. The guy just looks like a bulldog pitcher. He had a good ERA last year but needs to work on cutting down on the walks. Maybe a young guy like Brandon Erbe as a low spect. He was a 3rd round pick last yr by Bal and is as inexperienced as Lumdsen. But, he is in Baseball America's top 10 Orioles prospects. 48Ks in 23.1 IP in rookie ball this year. Not bad. Just say no to Parrish. He had an over 2.00 whip last year and has not shown good command ever in his career. This guy has bust written all over him. He has had a decent ERA the last two year, albeit in limited innings. But, he lets too many base runners on base. Baj and Munoz are better options.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) If were throwing in a top pitching prospect, I want Berdard. Count Uribe and Sweeney are enough in my eyes, but if we are throwing in a top prospect(I guess Tracey or Broadway???) then I want another starter back. I would throw Tracey in this deal without thinking about it. He, IMO, doesn't have more than a role relief pitcher career in his future.
  17. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Sounds similar to the Cubs type deal that was being offered so I would think for the package the Sox are giving up, Bedard would be included as well. Cubs offer was like Prior, Neifi, Patterson and Rich Hill. We would give up arguably the better "ace" in Contreras, a better younger SS in Uribe over Neifi, a better OF prospect in Sweeney over Patterson and maybe a solid lefty like Lumsden or Liotta for Tejada and Bedard. The Cubs deal went nowhere but it was a start, now that its been upgraded with Sox players it might happen. I would give up Count, Uribe, Sweeney and either Liotta or Lumsden as long as we got both Tejada and Bedard. No BMac in the deal!!!!! Lumsden has barely pitched in the minors, they would not want him.
  18. Tejada has a not played well in US Cellular Field in his career. 50 at bats, 1 homer, .220 average and a .555 OPS.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Again that site is bulls***. I liike sweeney. He is my favorite prospect, however I couldnt care less if we gave that up for tejada. It would make our offense pretty stacked for the next few years. That plus our exsiting pitching staff would give us the ability to make a run for a few years. Now the fact that this site mentioned it. I doubt it would happen. Hopefully his "source" is not the mlb.com forums. mlbtraderumors.com is not a bulls*** site. He does in fact have legitimate sources. And all baseball teams go through tons of proposals and interest in players.
  20. Good job by the Sox locking up a great utility player and not to mention a Sox fan.
  21. Again, this is off of MLB Trade Rumors. But, the O's propsed Count, Uribe, Sweeney and a top pitching prospect for Tejada.
  22. Sanchez has a electric fastball with his velocity near 100 MPH.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) And this year, he's going to be pitching as a great hitters park. After a while, you just want to see the guy live up to his expectations, and stop having excuses. Trust me, I'm not saying I don't like Vazquez. I'm just saying that it's still a question mark about whether or not he'll be anywhere close to a very high-priced pitcher. Garland, Buerhle and Count all had career ERA's last year at a tremendous hitters park. And Vaz might have better stuff than all three of them.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) If Vazquez is all those attributes, why has he been disappointing the last two seasons? In all honesty, I'm not worried about him though. I'm still just thrilled that we got rid of Duque and his contract. I couldn't be happier about this offseason. However, if we do trade Contreras, my only argument is that I hope we get equal value to what we gave up in our two previous trades. In the year 2004, he was in New York and plenty good pitcher have done poorly there because of the New York factor. In 2005, he was with Arizona and the thin air there causes the curve to lose its bite, look at how poorly pitchers do in spring training. Looking at his scouting report, he holds runners on and plays defense. He has dynamic stuff, is as durable as it comes, has a high strike out to walk ratio. This guy has it all and Coop has been known to maximize potential in pitchers (Gar, Loiaza, Count, even Burls to an extent.) What's not to like about Vazquez?
