QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 07:04 AM) Did you hear what Boers and Bernstein kept replaying? The TV call with Brenly and Kasper, the ball is hit and the whole crowd gasps and Kasper says "And it is now 10-5" and Brenly is in the background saying "It was windblown" I hope he was just kidding, but he sounded serious If sound had color it would have been in green. Brenly has a dry sense of humor, and he will actually give an honest opinion on the Cubs if they're doing something wrong. I believe it is his last year of his contract and I wouldn't be shocked if he manages somewhere next year.

FWIW throughout the year there have been columns with "scout's takes" basically saying if Beane wanted a haul for Harden he would of had to wait until he pitched a full year healthy and teams weren't going to give him uber prospects for him. So this kind of follows that trend. Also, I believe he's never made more than 10 starts in a row and he's either on his 9th or 10th coming up. It was a good move by the Cubs, I don't think any of those players are going to be awesome, but there is a SERIOUS injury risk with him and he can run his pitch count up. If everyone stays healthy the Milwaukee series the Cubs have left could be fun

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 09:07 AM) Nice to see all the "geniuses" who picked the Tribe to win the division... and the Sox to have 70-something wins... doing an about face. I am absolutely kicking myself about the win projection. I was in Vegas for the tourny in March and Ceasar's had the White Sox over under at around 77 games. I had won money on NCAA and should have bet $200 on the over. I'm not going to lie and say I though they would be this good, but I thought an improved pen alone was worth 6-8 wins. Damn it.

nothing against Pablo, but as the roster stands, this is the best move IMO

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Well, he's supposed to go tomorrow and I went from there. I wouldn't be suprised if they use the all-star break to reset the rotation a little

Awesome win, sweeping that series with Lee and CC pitching was tremendous
-
I didn't enjoy that game because the Sox used the homerun to score some of their runs
-
nah, I hope they play it. It's been a successfull series so far. If the Twins score holds and the Sox lose, they won't gain any ground from the beginning of the series and the Tigers will have lost ground. Cle is a struggling team, but a minimum of 2 out of 3 when facing Lee and Sabathia in a series is good. I would rather them play this game then have some goofy make-up doubleheader or the like later in the year

This is something MLB should almost step in on and attempt to discipline him if an investigation shows this happened(I say attempt because I'm sure if they did the Union would file a grievance). I enjoy Manny's silly antics on the field, but attacking someone in this manner should be handled by MLB if the club is not going to do anything

Anyone remember what Howard Stern's deal involved when he went to Sirius? I know $500,000,000 was thrown around, but if I remember correctly, I think a lot of that was tied into stock options so I wonder how they compare.

Gammons saying Cubs may not have enough to get Sabathia. He said the Brewers AA team is stacked with prospects, some scouts were telling him it might have the best prospects on one team they've ever seen. Flipped on the Cubs game and Len and Bob said the Cards might be interested in Holiday. If the Brewers get Sabathia and the Cardinals get Holiday, that will be one hell of a race between those three teams

Like to see that the bullpen hasn't had innings dumped on them in the 1st half. -
http://www.firejoemorgan.com/ I think he, as he often does, stumbled over his own words and probably was meaning to say something along the lines that the Sox have one of the better bullpens this year.

what were the numbers like in 05'? I know they're probably not as high as this year, but if I remember correctly, they were kind of high

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:20 PM) Yeah, the NL is just awful. Even the team with the best record in the NL (the Cubs), who avoided the Yankees and Red Sox, were mediocre in interleague. Might be an AL sweep in the World Series for the 4th time in 5 years come October, with the only exception being the most bizarre team I've ever seen, the 2006 Cardinals. And that's not even getting into the All Star game domination by the AL. I think, even though they're an up and down team, the Diamondbacks can give anyone fits in a 7 game series because of their pitching. Not counting on it, but they are one team that I think can give an AL team a hell of a fight if it comes down to it. Also, Sabathia can give an NL team a legit shot, I would still favor an AL team, but Sabathia on the Cards, Brewers, Cubs, Phils, etc. could make it more interesting.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) who's the green jacket guy theyre referencing I would guess it is the guy who was sitting in the Jim Beam seats around where the M&M jacket guy usually sits. He was on screen the whole game reacting to everything -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) The Cubs have now lost 5 of 6. I'm pretty sure the Cubs last 12 games were against AL teams over .500, 6 at home 6 on the road and they went 4-8 (Swept by the Rays, Swept the Sox, lost 2 out of 3 to the O's and swept by the Sox)
-
Great sweep this weekend. I loved they if A-Ram was going to beat the Sox he was going to do it on inside pitches, and fortunately, he couldn't do anything this series!

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) I don't know exactly how they did it in the old days but I don't think all-star appearences should not count towards Hall of Fame voting....the all-star fan vote is a bunch of bulls*** neither should gold gloves
-
I'm not overly concerned with the two homeruns, the Cubs are an excellent offensive team and the Sox had a 8-0 lead. He unfortunately fell behind in the counts and instead of walking them he made them get hits and they did. Hopefully he's on a short leash in the 6th

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) alexi raimerez might miss game due to birth. Juan uribe will be placed in if so. Will his newborn child weigh more than him?
-
i may lose my mind if A-Ram beats the Sox with outside pitches, after last series, he has to beat you on pitches inside

doesn't sound like MB at all, a friend of a friend thing, but MB paid for his wife's personal trainer and her husband to go to Hawaii with them

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) You're a jackalope. no, just a huge fan of Dave Coulier's character

Probably a snipe or a jackalope
