  1. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) Thanks for the huge discount for 1/2 the season Comcast/MLB. exactly what I was thinking. If it was around $100 I would probably get it to monitor the Twins
  2. awesome, I love it. I'm always right at the edge of ordering it, but never do... one of these seasons I will
  3. As others stated he would have to pitch a long time and get in on a win total.
  4. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) i think i am the only person who hasnt had problems with Comcast I haven't had any problems with it either
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Anybody know who ESPN has set up as commentators? I assume its Chris Berman, but I hope its not so I can actually watch with the sound on. Him just screaming "back, back, back" and naming nearby towns and neighborhoods that the ball got hit too is so damn annoying. When the game was at Comiskey, just kept yelling, and that ball is hit to Joliet, to Aurora, to Wrigley, to the United Center. No, dumb ass, home plate faces east, so the ball couldnt go to any of the places, you idiot. I haven't seen the roster, but I'm sure it's Berman. It was classic that he didn't do the Masters on ESPN and then wore a green jacket on BBTN that Sunday night. The Masters has a history of dictating the announcers (i.e. McCord can't do the CBS broadcast and Fehrety is toned down). I hope the Masters told Berman to stick it and didn't want to be associated with him.
  6. A house on an island somewhere
  7. The Sox are 3rd in the majors in run differential and since May 15 have had the best record in baseball, better than the darling Twins, Red Sox, Devil Rays or Cubs. (Yes, picking a day and going forward can be considered cherry picking, but it's 2 months and the hellacious June schedule was in there so I think it's an OK gauge to use). Do they look awesome all the time? No. Are there areas they can improve in? Yes. However this team had a very good first half + of the year. All of the "elite" teams in both leagues have flaws, the Sox are no different in that area. Danks and Floyd and MBs turn around have been great. Hopefully Javy will get his head out of his ass and Jose can settle down to become a serviciable number 5 starter. Thome is hitting better, Swisher had one hell of a June and Ramirez is suprising people every day. There are a ton of positives for this team and certainly some negatives. It seems there will be meaningful games played all year for the Sox, and I like their chances in the division.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) If you like museums we got some cool ones. Lots of cool places to eat. Chicago had cool fests and stuff going on all summer. metromix.com has a run down on whats going on. +1 on the museums. Those are fun to go to. You would have to take some sort of train if you don't have a car, but Brookfield Zoo is solid
  9. 7 1/2, and now I don't feel like a freak, thanks Knight!
  10. If you take a boat tour take the architectural one
  11. If I was a Cubs fan I would be very worried about Marmol, you need a solid BP in the playoffs (unless you're the Sox in the '05 ALCS) and Marmol was a major part of their very early success. Harden is a good pitcher, but I don't believe he is known for going deep into games
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Konerko will be fine, just like Thome has become fine. Its hysterical how this board wants to run these 2 out of town but is in love with the offense that is Nick Swisher. Except for June, his main offensive contribution is the walk. He also hits into DPs just as often and strikes out just as often. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bspli...1&year=2008 Dudes team split OPS+ was 170 in June, that was HUGE considering the tough schedule the team had
  13. Saw a stat yesterday (I think it was on the Sox game) that since May 15 Sox have had the best record in baseball. Obviously an arbitrary date, but it is basically 2 months that the Sox have the best record, good stretch, especially considering the June schedule.
  14. Thome wasn't as bad as a lot of people thought when he wasn't going well, now that he seems to be hitting the ball a lot better you want to give him less at bats?
  15. Darnit, Giants couldn't come through. Well, hopefully the Reds got all their homers out of them yesterday and the Crew rolls them tonight
  16. Are Wood and Marmol still making a ton of appearances or has Lou rested them a little?
  17. Burris got into second looks like (watching on computer) so even a duck snort does the job now
  18. A-Row not interested in swinging at anything in the AB?
  19. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Is it true that Budweiser outsells Guinness there.....especially among younger people? I've heard the same. A few friends went over their about 3 years ago and they said all the locals drink U.S. beer
  20. OK, going to Ireland for a 10 day trip on July 24. I have never traveled to Europe so I have 2 main questions: 1. Any advice on things to do in Ireland? We will hit up the touristy things and I'm going with a group that will have fun, but I want to know if anyone has any unique advice on things to do there. 2. Money conversion. Yes, I know the exchange rate is going to kill me, but it is what it is. Should I get traveler's checks? Should I convert to Euro's here? Should I use my ATM there? Thanks in advance for the help.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 07:43 AM) false http://www.baseball-reference.com/v/venturo01.shtml Agreed (unless he commuted from NY to Chicago in 1991)
  22. Dana White said that they've been talking to the United Center and the Allstate Arena about a late October date. Will probably be October 25 since the UFC is running a UK card on the 18th.
  23. These games have a chance to look like pinball scores. I love what Floyd has done this year, but I believe he is a fly ball pitcher, in Arlington, in the summer.... this could be a 11-10 game
