ah crap, a 0-2 HBP
-
he got a HUGE assist when the Rangers, for some reason only known to Ron Washington and God, attempted a steal, but hey, DJ did OK
-
well that was a craptastic inning, come on pen, hold them, 2 runs with 9 outs against the Rangers is attainable
-
Cool to see.
-
Wow, thanks Rangers for trying to steal a base for no reason. Come on pen, keep the Rangers to about 8 runs and the Sox have a good chance

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) Cubs choking and the media will still have sunshine in their asses. Yeah, I've noticed that. 2 big areas have been completely ignoring Fukudome's tanking and Marmol struggling, the media will still talk about Marmol like it's his first month. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=fukudko01 Fukudome was a good player in April, about an average player in May and June and horrible in July (replace "player" with "hitter" in the statement above, I haven't seen enough of his fielding to judge, but I believe he always plays a solid OF)

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 07:48 AM) 56-43 +1.5 games over MIN (thank you, NYY) +5.5 over surging DET +12 over CLE, KC Last 10 games the Twins and Tigers are 5-5 and the Sox are 4-6

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) DREAM puts on a fun show to watch. I have always loved watching Japanese MMA events b/c of the production. Nice tourney but none of those guys are ready to face someone of Penn's caliber. A lot of them are, even though he lost the final, Aoki is a top LW and so is JZ Calvancante

HUGE win tonight. Great job by MB. Timely HR by Swish and great job by Alexei to blow that game wide open.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Wolf actually could have been a solid pick-up as a 5th starter to replace Contreras. He has some solid looking periph's. The risk is that his actual ERA isn't that good, especially when you factor that he'd be going from PETCO to the CELL and the NL to the AL. This would have been a solid pick-up for any team actually in contention (ie, not Houston). http://www.baseball-reference.com/w/wolfra02.shtml ERA+ is used to help offset some of the league/ballpark differences. His is 82 this year and 100 is an average pitcher, so according to that stat he has been below average. It's a quick stat and a decent guide, his WHIP is also 1.4, so that's not great
-
OK, this is a head scratcher, what's Wolf's contract status?

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Which amazes me cuz players come and go from the Cubs. You would think they would beat him 2-1 or something sometime. Yeah, it's one of those odd things in baseball. He's had 14 starts and something like a 1.84 ERA against them, WHIP under 1.00, 142 Ks in 102 innings http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/psplit.cgi?n1=johnsra05

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) Whats up with Christian Bale? http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/07/...d.ap/index.html Batman goes bats**t

Randy Johnson flat out owns the Cubs, I think last night put him at 13-0 against them over his career
-
Solid trade by the Brewers

OK everyone, sit down, this may come as a shock. There is no possible way anyone thought something like this was a remote possability http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3498058

Fedor should fight AA or Josh next, but his managers can be a pain, so we'll see when and if that happens. He usually fights on NYE in Japan, so he'll probably fight for DREAM, or maybe WVR that night. They're also doing a reality show called "Fighting Fedor" with some Russian HWs training and competing to fight him. (I am absolutely 100% not kidding about that). http://mmamania.com/2008/02/12/fighting-fe...reality-series/ Affliction was a good show, but they really need to have better match ups, I mean a few of the fights were a joke, even Trigg and Glazer who announced it were saying Deweeze (sp?) and the guy from Brazil that Lindland fouoght weren't on the same level as their opponents. They also have to address the production aspect, it SUCKED! It was dark, the camera work was bad and the announcing didn't click, and they had Megadeath playing during the PPV (although it was 4 hours, so it didn't take away any fights). Overall the the production was C level at best, I know it was their first time, but they really need to address that ASAP. UFN was good too, heck it was free and seeing Silva for free and the ridiculous KO was well worth the time of watching it. Vera didn't impress much in his reintroduction at 205, and in the UFC there is no messing around at 205, that is one tough division. Dream 5 on HDnet early morning monday and replay Monday night. LW finals I believe. Hopefully at somepoint JZ or Aoki will fight BJ in a cross promotion or the UFC signing one of them.

I've had awesome luck with Hotels.com a few times. I stayed at real nice hotels for like $100 a night because it was last minute.
-
huge MMA weekend coming up. Affliction's PPV should be quality with the Fedor v. Sylvia main event and Arlovski v. Rothwell, Barnett v. Rizzo and Lindland fighting on it. UFN the same night with Anderson Silva fighting at 205, then DREAM 5 on HDnet.

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6038/105/ Looks like Rampage was acting so odd that the police picked him up again and took him for some mental observation

QUOTE (Phil McKrevice @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) That's what I thought, but I was hoping to be wrong. Somewhat related question: does anyone have an idea how long before gametime the unused players' tickets are released for sale? I'm essentially just looking for a way to buy those on occasion, so if I can narrow it down I can just call the box office at the Cell. If it works anything like other events you can probably check on-line during the day before the game. I know even for concerts that are crazy popular and sell-out in minutes, they release tickets after promo tickets aren't given away or other reasons. I have scored these on-line before and they're usually good seats.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/mma/...sted/index.html Looks like Rampage's future will be on hold for awhile

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) It's also depending if Spike picks up the card on the 18th, if they don't then they won't be running another card in October. yeah, that's still listed as "international event" on ufc.com, so it seems up in the air. Sounds like Chicago will be getting a show announced.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/316...seballtv18.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLB_Network I'm stoked! Hopefully it's not Yankees/Red Sox 24/7. Throw the Cubs in there and that is exactly what I am expecting it to be

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) Ok I'll try my best here; 1 - Looking to gamble mostly, and then get drunk at bars. Both are the highest priority. Don't think we want to do much sightseeing (e.g Hoover Dam, too far away). Getting drunk cheaply is probably more ideal though, I don't want to be paying $8-10 a beer now. I'm into poker, but some of the other guys are more in to blackjack and roulette. 2 - Hotels we're looking at $50 a night for the most. There's probably 4-5 people going, maybe more, so if you know any really good hotel deals (otherwise we're probably staying in a hostel, and I'll be doing enough of that over the next year). 3 - No car. Will be walking, and maybe getting taxi's if we have to. I like the MGM Grand, the casino is huge. Will probably be staying there in October. They are offering a ton of deals right now, so you should be able to stay somewhere decent for a good price
