  1. Good job Javy, a huge key to facing the O's is facing Markakis with no one on base
  2. it's approaching 3:10, any new updates? Does TV look like they are getting ready to start?
  3. I was listening when Steve Langford broke the news on the show. Mixed reaction since he had some serious charges pending against him, attempted kidnapping I believe, and the crew didn't exactly know how to react. He hasn't really been part of the show lately, was a big part in the early 90's, especially on the old Channel 9 show (where I first found Stern, it was on a New York station that use to be syndicated on cable). Howard said that he has called Gary a lot asking to get on the show, but Howard felt he was more visual and turned him down.
  4. QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Wow, I'm not liking how horrible that bottom 3 is going to look tonight. I hope they do something like 7-9 and make me look dumb. But I'm assuming it will be more like Popup/K 1-2-3 over and over. Swish will have lots of RBI opportunities tonight. Prove me wrong!! I LOVE Quentin moved up in the order. It's too bad an injury had to be the reason he moved up. Does anyone else really dislike Hall? Yes, I always thought he hogged the spotlight from Oates
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Player one: .309 BA 1314 R 2155 H 393 HR 1319 RBI .954 F% Player two: .277 BA 1138 R 2254 H 342 HR 1331 RBI .948 F% Who is whom? Larry Jones and Ron Santo Santo's OPS+ is 125, but in his defense he has his last few lackluster years in that. Also, Chippers career RC/G is 8.3, Santo had one season above that. But if Santo is borderline HOF then the argument above that Chipper needs this season and another solid season or two is supported by this. (edit was with RC/G numbers, I messed them up orig.)
  6. Coming to America is one of my favorites, the whole movie cracks me up. Funniest scene is probably when they go to the St. John's Basketball game If anyone is a Norm MacDonald fan rent Dirty Work. It's one of my guilty pleasure movies
  7. Thanks for your help guys, I used all the hints and seems that problem is solved!!!
  8. QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Yeah, I meant all-around. His mic work is good, he's funny and can still get serious in a heel role, and his matches are interesting. The outfit is still goofy, though. I know Vince stuck him with the outfit because he doesn't like his tattoos, and I realize it's supposed to be "flashy", but it's too Flash Funk or Jushin Liger for my taste. what are his tattoos? There are some goofy ass ones going around, I would love to know what Vince doesn't like
  9. QUOTE (Soxy @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) Two pop to mind: Forces of Nature and Georgia Rule. Awful. Really awful. good call, that movie is awful, although I have an unexplainable crush on Maura Tierney, so that lifts it up a half point in my book!!
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Chipper's problems are 2-fold. First, his numbers aren't the greatest when you compare them to the other people of his era...many of whom juiced, yes, but still. Second, he's been hurt too often to really pile up the numbers the last few years. A couple full, healthy seasons would really finish off the case. http://www.baseball-reference.com/j/jonesch06.shtml His career OPS+ is 144 (granted that's slightly thrown off by his insane start to this year) which is very solid. He did have 8 straight years of 150+ games played, but you are right the last few years have been slowed by injuries. He does have an MVP in '99 and a WS title in his plus column as well. Also, I've never heard his name connected to steroids, could be out there and I just missed it though. I think you might see some people from this era without eye popping numbers slide in if they were considered "clean". Also, "only" 1 world series or not, that Braves run was awesome. Maddux and Glavine are no doubters, IMO Smoltz is too, but I can't think of another position player from the Braves that will go in. So Chipper might get a boost as the position player rep from all those Division Champs. You are right though, he likely needs a few more solid years to solidify it, but I think he is HOFer right now
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:50 AM) For local offices, that can sometimes work quite well - especially since there is far less party involvement at those levels. Once you start getting to county, and then state level offices, you pretty much have to align with a party. Yeah, local wouldn't be 100% out of the question. One thing I might "political up" for would be to be a Judge at some point, either elected or appointed.
  12. Great job Knight, real intersting idea and awesome execution. Since there's a lull in the list here and we were discussing bad movies a few pages back, let me throw a question at you guys. What do you think is the worst "legitimate" movie you have seen? What I mean is this, OK, it's easy to rip apart Manos and Orgy of the Dead, God knows I have spent countless 'bad movie nights' with my friends doing the same, but Hollywood has made some legitimate busts too. This is a no brainer for me, it is "Fallen" with Denzel and Goodman. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119099/ My God did I think this was horrible. Only reason I didn't walk out was when I worked at a movie theater we would run everything that came in as a midnight show for the staff. My friend and I just busted on it and were in slap happy moods. God did this movie suck. It is just horrible. It smacked of someone having an "awesome" idea, that being the devil transfers from body to body through touch and you can tell it is him by the person singing a specific song, and deciding to write a movie around it. any of you have a film that falls in this category?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) Chipper Jones, you are ridiculous! Yeah, he's been hitting out of his mind. I have him on my fantasy team and every night when I check the stats I can't believe the numbers he's been putting up. I was suprised to hear that some don't think he's a slam dunk HOFer. I think with the other 3bers in HOF he is definitely in.
  14. I'm always unsure on this one. I think it is a realistic possability for me at some point in the future considering I'm an attorney and all. Right now I would lean towards no. I think I'm far too moderate in my stances and really split between Dem and Rep depending on the issues.
  15. OK, I'll just admit it off the top. I was stupid and bored at work last week and downloaded "gamevance" to get some silly duckhunting game. Wellity wellity, it has put a program that gives occasional pop-ups and search links on text on sites. Luckily it didn't spread and it's not overly annoying or porno or anything. However, when I found it in my programs and tried to move it into the recycle it says access is denied, check if its running or read only or something. Bottom line, anyone have any suggestions on how to get it off my computer. Thanks in advance
  16. http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/mlb/...?eventid=242181 nasty weather is likely rolling into the area around mid-afternoon, it will be interesting to see if they get this one in
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/24/snipes...cing/index.html It's amazing, you have to pay your taxes!!! If I ever generate significant income I will make a number one priority that my taxes are in order. The U.S. government will nail anyone, big or small, for not paying their taxes. there's no tricks to get around it
  18. Exactly, and it drives me crazy when Hawk points out lucky hits or "duck snorts" for the oppo team when many of them are a hitter taking what is given and pushing pulls to the opposite field
  19. the one thing I can think of that the Sox would have working for them is that the Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, and Mets, many of the traditional big money teams, are secure at 3b. Since much of Crede's value is in his glove, likely a team wouldn't give him a huge contract to move him to the OF for his bat. There's still teams like the Dodgers who have a high payroll out there, but 3b is a secure position for many of the other high payroll teams. on another note, what realistically, could the Sox expect for Fields in a trade if they sign Crede today?
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) Actually Crede was chugging a Red Bull after his homer last night. After they added amphetamines (sp?) to the testing list, I bet clubhouse attendants stock up on Red Bull. (Note: I AM NOT saying Crede uses, used, knows what, or have ever heard of speed. Just that from what Gammons said it was pretty prevelant still when they started testing for it, so I imagine some users switched to other things)
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Here's the video of the return of the Ultimate Warrior. It's pretty sad. Look how loose the NWE ring ropes are. They need better wrenches, or a stronger ring crew. I don't know why, but I enjoyed watching that
  22. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) You know that won't happen. I'm sure they have some s*** pitcher who can float a curve and spot a change down & away who will shut us down. I can't for the life of me understand how Greg Walker has a job year after year where we have different players yet are subject to same pathetic-ass hitting approach. scariest thing is Hawk was saying he was talking with Walker and Walker said he sees the walks going down for the team as the season goes on.... as if that's a good thing
