http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=11489 Liddell out of the June UFC. Link above has a pic of his torn hamstring, it is NASTY. Looking for replacement to fight Evans and Meltzer mentioned they are going to add two more fights to the card. Not much the UFC could do if this card ends up being lame, they initially had Shogun vs. Liddell, then Shogun had knee surgery. Likely they'll put on a solid card, but lack a major name in the main event.

What have you guys heard about the margin Clinton needs to realistically have any hypothetical chance? I've heard at least double digit, but I've heard as high as 20%. Drudge had an article saying internal Clinton docs show their projections at 11, which seems like a number that would just keep her lingering around. If the projections you guys are citing are accurate than, from what I understand it's more over than it is now. How will the party handle it if she wins, but only by 5-9%? Will Dean or someone have a "come to jesus" talk with her or put pressure through the public? My personal opinion is she wins by enough to hang around and drag it out, so I'll go with 12%

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) On Penn/Sherk, i'd agree with you but it seems that Sherk's only offense is to wear on you for 5 rounds because his cardio/strength is damn good. Now if it were to wear on you for 2 rounds, and then go for the kill i'd say BJ is in trouble. I'm glad to see Fedor actually fighting someone of importance, will Sylvia be able to hang with Fedor? I won't stand for any Hong Man Choi bashing mister!!! um... initial reaction is Fedor will roll through him, especially considering how horrible Sylvia looked on the ground against Nog. But Tim is big and skilled so he may give him some problems, but Fedor by vicious ground and pound late in the 1st round.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) Bisping looked really good at 185, I would definitely set up his next fight to be against Rich Franklin. UFC 84, does look good. If Jardine pulls out the victory he'd undoubtedly be the #1 contender at 205. I see Penn giving Sherk a nice beatdown, Sherk's game is to try and out grapple the man from whenever i've seen him. So hopefully BJ can make quick work of him. I think that too. However, Sherk is uniquely strong for 155 (even with the positive steroid test last fight, he still will be hella strong for 155) and I see that as the one thing that could throw a serious monkey wrench in the plans. Penn has fought, and been successful at 170, so I am leaning heavily towards Penn in this fight. FWIW Tim Sylvia was released by the UFC with one fight left on his contract and he will be fighting Fedor on a card in Texas (I belive under the Affliction promotion) in July.

anyone go to the ROH show this weekend? I haven't been to one in awhile. They're always solid shows and worth the money, but they have fallen on the worst weekends for me. -
First UFC I've missed in awhile. Good to hear that St. Pierre avenge the loss. I read Bisping looked good at 185. He was at a disadvantage at 205, he wasn't cutting any weight so he was fighting bigger guys everytime out. UFC 84 is good on paper. Machida/Ortiz should be a good fight. Machida has a good resume and barring a miracle it will be Tito's last UFC fight (for awhile anyway). It's his last fight on the contract and he's already saying he's out the door. He still is a major draw and will be a great headliner for one of the smaller groups trying to build (Affliction, Elite XC, IFL, etc...). Wanderli Silva/Jardine (Sp?)- Huge match for 205. Silva really needs to win this. Jardine has beatin Griffin, who's fighting for the belt after upsetting Shogun, and Liddell. I would imagine he would get the next title shot if he wins this. Sherk/Penn- This is to unify the LW belt. Sherk is coming off his CA suspension because he pissed hot in his last match. Penn is often mentioned as one of the best P4P fighters in the world. Sherk loves to take down opponents, with BJ's jiu jitsu skills, that might be a bad gameplan. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...9&zoneid=14 I think June 1st is when the Illinois State Athletic Commission can officially sanction MMA events, so i would imagine the October or Nov UFC will be somewhere in Chicago. If they can resign Andre Arlovski, a natural main event would be AA vs. Big Nog for the belt

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) Another reason why I block social networking sites at work. We blocked it when our marketing team decided to have myspace sites, of them getting drunk at the bars with coworkers. Nothing like telling everyone you work for a company, and showing the director of marketing doing body shots off his secretary. a lot of people will look on myspace for the person they just interviewed. At my old job my boss, who is simply the greatest boss one could ever dream of working for, liked a guy, looked him up and saw pictures of him out drinking and weird statements and didn't offer him the job.

go to see a broadway show. Even if you're not a fan of live theater or musicals, over the year you're there there should be something that interests you. These are the top people at work, from the directing, produciton and acting it's really something to see

I did yell at my dog when I woke up. I thought they were supposed to have a 6th sense about earthquakes, and he slept right through it!!

I felt it, I live about 1 block from some train tracks so that's what I thought it was, then the news this morning explained it all!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:16 AM) Thom... And yeah, this is a freaking joke. Cubs fans have become ridiculous. Your team is playing well and lose one game and you endanger your outfielders by throwing tons of baseballs back? I may be mistaken, but I think that is one of the 2 games they won against the Reds. I think it was on Dunn's HR when Cubs were up 10-1 or something like that

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) I guess we will see how this holds up the rest of the season when people aren't looking at scouting reports from last year. You may be right, but as a general rule, I never like hearing a guy's velocity is going down. And then it's said the guy is just becoming more of a pitcher or something to that effect (which to me is usually a euphemism for "he's losing his stuff"). This approach is not working out very well for Justin Verlander. he did set a record for perfect innings last year, I'm pretty sure over the 40+ innings teams had an idea what his approach was.

losses like this happen. A couple of errors, the infield hit in the 9th against bobby. The key is to not let it snowball. Floyd looked good and bobby looked OK, it just didn't go his way tonight, it will take a few more of those before I worry about Bobby

Essay Help on a sports topic

if you're into combat sports you can look at the boxing model (alphabet orgs, no exclusive contracts) vs. the MMA model (more organization based, exclusive contracts). you can take it from the perspective of the fighters, owners, or fans -
Possible explination for the $30m income. Doesn't JR always say the Sox put profits back into the team? What would have Hunter and Cabrera cost the Sox this year? That might be the reason for the 30m, instead of a panic trade/signing of an overpriced vet, they banked it. Could come in handy at the trade deadline

QUOTE (Soxy @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Depends on how good their lawyers were. also depends on their records. If 2 are on probation then they likely will/did have a rough time. However, if this was a first offense and they have any kind of roots to the area I imagine a reasonable bail/bond, possibly with an explicitly written keep away, would be expected.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) ROH will have a "huge announcement" on their website this Sunday. I hope it is a TV deal. I'd really like to watch it but am not going to spend money on a DVD of a company I haven't seen. TV would be cool for them. I also saw on another board (Can't remember which one, I don't think it was Meltzer's) that they want to bring some of their past stars back to the show. It could be an agreement with TNA to bring some guys in for some shows -
Boers and Bernstein played a clip from the Reds announcers, i believe Marty Brennamen and Jeff Brantley, who absolutely laid into the Cubs fans, calling them something like the most obnoxious fans in baseball, etc... it's pretty funny

What teams do you pledge allegiance to?
SoxFan562004 replied to shipps's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Sox are number 1, Blackhawks are a very close 2nd and then Bears and Bulls -
i watched like 95% of BBTN and didn't see the Sox highlights, did I miss them or did they get jobbed?
