If your gonna whine and jump off a cliff
SoxFan562004 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Help is not on the way. KW is going to sit on his hands this year. The last few years, he trades everything for Everett and Alomar. This year when we actually have a chance at doing something, we dont trade because god forbid we trade a good prospect. He might be good like Borchard one day. Now our pitchers got a great message, pitch the game of your life and we will whimper out like a fart trying to swing for the fences. They dont need bats, with their swings they need Tigers driver. FORE!!!!!!!!!!! Timo Perez is our answer because he f***ing brought in some nasty panties. well, funny you mention Timo and Borchard in this post. Because it's time to give Borchard a shot at the ML level this year. He absolutely can not do anyworse than this team. What's he going to do? Strike out? who f***ing cares. -

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Part of me (the sick part) wants this team to blow the lead and not make the playoffs. Anyone else have this? no, because if (when?) the Sox collapse this year it's over. Sox don't have the fan base for a "curse" type of marketing, and KW and Ozzie are going to go nowhere for a few years, and their faces will remind all Sox fans of this pathetic showing. -
Sox @ Minneapolis--Game 1--8/23/05

There is zero positive that can be taken away from this game. This is a game that costs the team probably about the 3 of the next 4 games. With MB's last 2 or 3 outings I have zero confidence in him tomorrow, it can be really ugly early... -

QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Fathom, I don't get it? Why KW should be fired? Who is he going to trade for now? The players only have themselves to blame if this team actually collapse. You whine too much man. Calm down man. Think of it this way. Tomorrow is the brand new 40-game season, and the Sox have 7 games up on the Indians. I take our chances, wouldn't you? Ask all of the Indians fans to see which they would choose. 7 games looks a lot better than it is. Sox have dropped 8 in a short time, and 6 head to head left with Indians surging and Sox slumping. -

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Is this the beginning of the end or will they turn it around? unfortunately I'm going with the beginning of the end. Contending teams can't lose these games. 7 games ahead with 6 left against the Indians. Indians have a come from behind win today, they have all the momentum. That's it, I called the season last year after the Torii Hunter colision with the catcher game, and I get that same feeling tonight, this team is TOAST! -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) I have a few things running through my head regarding Timo possesing panties... like possibly.... did Ozzie buy them for him or at least have a hand in picking them out?

QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) just said the indians would win the al central this year.... he got reamed he got the reaction he wanted, people are talking about him

would be interesting. I love it though, ESPN has really taken a downturn in quality lately, way too much NY coverage and letting idiots like Mariotti and Stephen A. just blabber on and on... need to focus more

Sure am, I don't believe in any of those urban legends about people letting you die to get your organs. I am very proud to be an organ donor.

Fantasy Football Team Names
SoxFan562004 replied to Middle Buffalo's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Just saw 40 Year Old Virgin, and I think I'm going to adopt "Boner Jamz '03" as my name. -
whew, needed that win today, 8.5 games look SO much better than 7.5. God bless Widger, the catching position for the Sox has been so solid both on defense and offense this year. So has Iguchi, I don't even look at his numbers, he has been so unbelievable this year.
-
I would imagine Borchard is going to get called up. With his arm in the outfield he's an OK late inning replacement. I wouldn't mind seeing him getting a shot before 9/1 in case he gets hot and needed in the playoffs. And to answer Hawk's "where would he play?" question, anywhere Timo does right now.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) I know we had about a 5% chance of getting him and it wouldn't help our hitting but damn AJ Burnett is on fire! 7 straight wins. Another shutout tonight against the Dodgers with 9Ks and 1 BB. Would have been much higher than 5% if willing to eat some of that Lowell contract, but the team is only going to smash the record for sellouts in a season, so you know that whole JR thing about increased attendance equals increased payroll is so right on. Has Hawk started "this losing streak and letting Cleveland and the Minnesota closer into the race is exactly what this team needs, now they won't be stagnant going into the playoffs." That has to be coming soon. -

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) We need a lot of players to pick it up right now, it makes me even more mad when you think all those runs we scored on Boston and our pitching was bad but now our pitching has been doing ok and now we can't f***ing hit. The Sox have played 4 games against NY this year and I think they have given up 8 runs... that is extremely good, and only a 2-2 record to show for it... -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Great sig btw. Thanks, big props to Steve for that... I just posted a request and he came through with that awesome piece of work!!! I don't know about anyone else, but I've had to mute the Hawk the last few games. This offense needs to be "ridden hard and put away wet" and he's slobing the knobs of average pitchers instead. This lineup is pathetic now, I want to see Borchard or Gload called up ASAP, they cannot do any worse and might add a spark. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I think Twins and Indians only play 3 more times this season. The Indians schedule is ridiculously easy. damn, well the D-Rays have been playing well since the break, so hopefully they can continue.... looks like those 6 games against the Tribe the Sox have left may be big (although I think, as an earlier poster pointed out in a different thread, the Indians do play a version of Corpse ball as well and can go in funks against bad teams....I hope) -

How many games do the Twins and Tribe have against each other left? Anyone know? If they have like 6-10 and they .500 or so against each other that would help the Sox (sad that I have to think about crunching numbers like this!) The thing that is driving me crazy now is how KW and Ozzie stressed that Frank was going to be the midseason addition the sox needed, and they were right, he did help the offense, but now he's f***ing gone!! Damnit, I have a lot of faith in El Duque in big games, but what does that mean with this offense? Garland pitched a good game tonight and had zero chance of winning it, so Duque gives up 2 runs tomorrrow, odds are won't be enough to get the team a W -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) in an overall related topic, there is a report out that transcripts involving Raffy's testimony during the appeals process gave little explanation as to why he tested positive yeah, because I don't think he has much of an explanation other than he did it and didn't think he would get caught

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I'm liking that grinder rule! Just found out I'll be going to Sunday's game. Which hopefully, won't be Jaret Wright Owns The Sox Again Day. ah, I bet right now Hawk is planning what he's going to say when Crede pops up his 3rd hanging breaking ball.... "Well, he was injured, but it looks like Wright is coming back into form, that happens sometimes, not much you can do." -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) there you go. im rather fond of the jurassic carl logo i made. i hope you like it. Thanks a lot man! It is AWESOME!! I'm going to add it in a second here!

QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) this just seems out of character for pro athletes. in this week's Sports Illustrated, it says when Colorado couldn't resign Forsberg because of cap issues, Forsberg signed with Philadelphia, reportedly for less money than a Western Conference team offered him, out of respect to Colorado, that way he likely won't have to play against them. then Jeremy Roenick waived his no-trade clause when Philly dealed him to LA, saying he wouldn't want to stand in the way of the best player in the world coming to Philly, thus helping out his old team. I was just surprised by this is all, athletes being selfless in their actions. No doubt that any move like this by a pro athlete is suprising, but I guess hockey is the logical place for it. Even though the players got trashed for the lockout negotiations hockey players usually have a strong bond and are generally good guys

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) If anyone should resign it should be Fehr. Selig will manage his way through this...he can always just keep saying he wanted to do more but the Union wouldn't let him. He has a stronger proposal on the table right now. If it is two big names I think Congress will really push to take control of the testing, which I believe will mirror the IOC.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) i actually prefer to sit back, relax and strap it down, but if you want to cinch it up and hunker down, you go on with your bad self. OK mister, just heed DJ's advice and "don't strap it on"
