QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Hawk and DJ were talking about Brandon in the 8th after he was done, and the camera was on him. He pulled out a tin from his pocket, and the camera shot off him so quick. My favorite is in golf when they accidently cut to a golfer smoking and they break away to ANY shot...

I wouldn't mind seeing a call up such as anderson or borchard mixed in every now and then, but not a whole lineup of like Timo, Anderson, Borchard, Gload, etc... until after they clinch

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) So when this team wins 7 in a row, what is this place going to look like? Everyone back on the bangwagon? Or will everyone still be hoping the Sox choke so they wont look like idiots?? I guess I'm one of the people who have been panicing lately, and if the Sox win 7 in a row obviously I would be happy, I'm a fan. However, I still will be concerned about the playoffs with the current offense... -

QUOTE(Chifananthony @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) Bad chemistry is just a bull s*** excuse for losing. i agree, it's also bs excuse for winning... didn't the Oakland A's in the 1970's get into physical fights often? -

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) chemistry this and "where would he play" has replaced Robbie Alomar jokes for things on this board that make me snicker every time i see them!! By the way, I'm dissapointed in the lack of Robbie Alomar jokes during both trade deadlines.... -
Hey, I'm going to go deep conspiracy theory on this... JR doesn't mind what's going on... in many corners he's not being blamed for the KGJ situation, in fact he's coming out in a positive light on that and he doesn't have to add money also, after tonight Clev. will be 6 or 7 games behind, meaning home games in September will mean something, thus bigger crowds... not that I really believe this, but I have a lot of free time on my hands to think of this crap!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Nobody knows what teams are good enough to win it all right now. I'll tell you one thing though, if there is a team out of the A.L. who could beat the Cardinals it is us because of our pitching. While Boston and the yanks can absolutely mash they just don't have enough pitching to win it all this year. I personally don't like the Angels staff after Bartolo and everyone knows how I feel about the A's. I think Tony put it perfectly with this team, we could get eliminated real early or we could win it all. The thing is as long as we hang on nobody is going to want to face Buehrle-Garland-Garcia in a short series. man, I use to think that until about the last month or so... the offense the Sox have is absolutely terrible. What they did against the 0-6 pitcher in relief in the first game yesterday was embarassing. after seeing the numbers crunched in the other post, I feel Sox will make the playoffs, and will likely have great pitching performances, but lose in 4 games with like 3-2, 2-1 scores... -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) The Yankees got Chacon, and considering how the Sox hit him, he's destined for Cooperstown. Boston got Graffinino, KW came in second. Oakland got Jay Payton, and Joe Kennedy. The Angels didn't do much, but if money wasn't an issue would you trade their roster for the White Sox? Minnesota is out of it, they tried with Boone. Cleveland didn't do much because they were about 15 out at the non-waiver deadline, although if KW doesn't get Walker, they are rumored to be favorites to get him if he is moved. I said good day!!! -
Since this is being posted on Soxtalk.com I am going to blame Timo...

OK, i'm going to be "that guy" and really ride the fence on this one. If nobody is moved I'll lay off KW since that will bear out that there really was no market, but if a couple quality bats move, ie Walker or of that ilk, I will be dissapointed with KW. This team needs a spark, it took two rookie pitchers to salvage one game against a team under .500. That's not good. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) 12 hours from now is 11 o'clock at night thanks, wasn't sure if you were talking about final rosters for playoffs or deadline. I wouldn't be shocked if Walker goes to the Sox, at this point there's zero reason for him to be on the Cubs, and Sox need to add some sort of bat to see if it can spark this offense for a little.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Well, if there's anything to this rumor, there's only 12 hours to get something worked out. is it midnight tonight for the trade deadline or is it sometime in the afternoon like the 7/31 deadline?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) This is pretty much Bruce's last day in the spotlight, i wonder if he will bring us any reputation-staking claims of trades before the day is over. I'm sure you've already seen in, but the Todd Walker thread shows Bruce may be going down in a blaze of glory!! Yeah, but the day after the World Series he'll be back with how Manny Ramirez, Raphael Furcal and the ressurrected body of Babe Ruth circa 1927 wants to play for the Cubs because they "Love Wrigley Field"

Levine may be doing what a lot of reporters, and Levine does it too, which is just throw s*** against the wall and see what sticks. Most people don't remember the BS that people report that never happens, but they do remember when a reporter somewhat mentioned something that partially came true. IMO a lot of these guys are like "psychics" who do cold reading, just keep saying s*** and eventually someone has a relative named Joe, but they forget you mentioned 10 other names just to get to that point. with that said, at this point I wouldn't mind seeing Walker added to the club, Willie Harris or Todd Walker? I go with Walker at this point. He can back up 2b and DH better than what we have now.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) CJ Wilson goes 5 and gives up 1? What a sad sad offense. WHAT WOULD HAWK SAY!! Well, I'll tell ya, sometimes those numbers lie, you get a guy out there making his pitches, gettin' into a grove and you just have to tip your hat
-
wow, just wow, what a horrible embarassing game. most likely 6 games ahead with about a month left... sad. Interesting to see Oz's comments tonight

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Is that pitcher in the night cap making is MLB debut? If so we are f***ed. we will lose a full game to the Indians today without them playing. he is, and I feel the same

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) I don't know how, but I have as much confidence in Timo now as I do anyone else on the team to get a hit. I guess I agree, but that's like being the tallest midget at this point
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Good at bat by Timo, and Hawk, Jon had just as much to do with this deficit as the defense did if not more. 100% agree, Garland should have been able to make a pitch or two to slow the bleeding. I think Tex's 2nd HR was on a 1-2 count...
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Clutch-Timo with a base hit! The scrub pitcher of the rangers with the 8.00 ERA and the 0-6 record giving one goddamn ER up is a sign Walker should be canned between games. The approach was horrible by the batters. More of the same with a rookie pitcher in the nightcap!!
-
IMO, if KW doesn't upgrade the offense by 9/1 he has failed this season. He counted on Frank being a midseason type move, when he went down that went away and he did nothing...
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) A.) To the idiots in the Ranger's organization who think McAllen, 750 miles away is part of their "local market" f*** You! B.) To the idiots at Time Warner who do not offer Ranger games here in the Rio Grande Valley, 750 miles south of Dallas, f*** You! C.) To the idiots at mlb.tv who have blocked me from today's games because of A and who don't care about B, f*** You! I cleared my schedule, stocked up on snacks and beverages, and patiently awaited BMac taking the mound with Garland as the opening act, and wham! I'm screwed. boy, after the efforts through the first 8, I wish game was blacked out in Chicago
-
Wow, this will be the most embarassing Sox lost I can remember in a long time. I think the pitcher who gave up one earned run for 4-5 innings had an 8.50 era coming in played defense like garbage and Garland couldn't make one pitch to help his team out of it. The last few innings of offense have been an absolute joke. If I'm the pitcher making my debut for the Rangers tonight I can not wait. This team is going to basically lay down.
