QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Someone has mentioned this every start of Buehlre's the last two weeks. How did he manage against playoff contender Anaheim Angels? Or the worst team in baseball Kansas City Royals one game after a devastating loss? I believe Buehlre is the "ace" of this club. That's about it. Right now he has to pick this team up. Bring this team a victory and prime them to win the final game of the series. I agree. MB has had plenty of times to step up, and thus far he's pitched pretty poorly in those starts. I expect him to pitch poorly again tomorrow... This was a huge momentum game, not only coming in, but the way it played out,
-
it seems all the "experts" are basically saying the Sox will still win the division. I heard Gammons, Olney and various others say it, not that it's worth anything, but it's being reported so thought I would post it
-
FWIW as well Gammons was on Dan Patrick radio show today and mentioned the Sox/Indians situation quickly and basically said he thinks the Sox will take 2 or 3 from the Tribe over the 6 games, and that will be enough, he still thinks Sox will win the division

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) Mark Buerhle said after that game that he doesnt care what anyone says, the count should start game one in the playoffs. if he keeps pitching the way he is it would be a crime if he doesn't pitch the first game of the playoffs

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) "There isn't a fan on this board that wouldn't have gladly taken this position leaving Spring Training." Again, not the whole story. At face value, YES, anyone would accept that. However, without adding the part about the 15 game lead in August, the s***ty August BA and W-L, the mediocre second half by almost all the starters, the 5-game drop in the lead over the Indians in just over one week, etc etc, you're not telling the whole story. Am I glad the Sox are still up 4 and 1/2 games? Yup. Is 4 and 1/2 ahead better than 4 and 1/2 behind? Of course. Does that 4 and 1/2 game lead feel insurmountable AT ALL? no. Let me state once again for the record that I DO NOT want the Sox to fail, I am pulling for them 100% ( because it's impossible for me to pull for them MORE than 100% ), and I would LOVE to see them get rid of the f***ing Injuns. But to say that I'm nervous about the lead right now is an understatement. I agree man... I am pulling for the Sox like I have bee all season, but they have been playing like garbage lately, I can't ignore that. I keep thinking the Indians are only going to lose 4 more games this season, 2 to the Sox and 1 each to Royals and TB. That means Sox have 7 wins to get against Twins and Tigers... possible, but they have to snap out of it ASAP

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) We only play them 3 times next week. I think we miss Sabathia and Lee...

Anyone have Baker's numbers close at hand? -
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) IF Sox miss postseason KW or OG will have to go and my vote would be KW someone has to pay for utter complete failure of 2005. I agree 100%. Someone has to go. There's not even a BS injury excuse. I know Frank was injured, but plenty of time to get an average bat to help. I think Ozzie needs to give Borchard a shot somewhere, he had a good power year in AAA and he's looked a lot more under control in his 2 or 3 ABs this year. Listen, he won't lose them anymore games, might be a spark they need
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) So then why in the hell did Ozzie put Garcia out for the 6th inning last night? Great question. It was obvious he was struggling either physically or mentally last night. The team got a good offensive output and a lead, he struggled through 5 and put them in a good position. This is the time to use the bullpen...

s***, I get to ride the fence for this weekend, thank God I'm going to WI for a bachelor party so I'll be out of it until Monday...

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws He's slated to go Monday against Cleveland. The last thing we need is another lackadaisacal Garcia getting shelled by the Tribe. But if he's tired, it's best he get's rest. OMG this keeps getting worse and worse... these stories are usually the precursors to season ending surgery... f***, Duque is going to get shelled on Saturday, well, I have as much confidence in B-Mac and Contreras as any other of the 4

How long until Hawk starts saying "Well the Sox want to grab the wild card instead, the last 3 world series winners have been wild card winners, not division winners, yeah, I like how that sets up for us"
-
Yeah, this year the Twins have 6 playoff games, and they are the 6 games remaining against the Sox, I'm sure they will play and handle them like playoff games...
-
QUOTE(alexgtp @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) It is all up to the SOX. They have to sweep the Indians!! no, the sad thing is they have to split, and even 2-4 against them wouldn't be disaster, but I only see 1-5, not to mention the Twins who kill the Sox in the second half
-
ok, i'm being serious here... The Sox are what 5.5 up in the Wild Card? How often do Red Sox/Yankees play? Please, I'm not trying to be an asshole, it's just that the Sox might have to start concerning themselves with this math

wow, these last two games have been surreal. The team was gutless, MB pitched OK, but not the dominant performance this team needed. Likely they scratch a win out in Minnesota and Cleveland sweeps KC... so 2.5 game lead going into the series against Cleveland with Cleveland hot as hell and Sox stumbling over themselves.... lead may be gone by Wed. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Yes he was...said that they were swinging at the first pitch too often, and that most of the changeups they were swinging at were outside the strike zone. wow, I am really going to start listening to a radio when watching the games... that's so refreshing to hear -
