I'm going to a costume wedding on the 28th, and I'm standing up in it. The groom is going to be James Bond, and I'm Emile Largo... all the groomsmen are villans

sorry if this has been posted on here already, but as far as the rotation, I'm fine with it. Contreras is one of the best pitchers still playing, and he is going to be facing a tired team, no matter if it's the Angels or NY. I believe MB is a lot better at home than he is on the road and Garcia is better on the road than at home, so those two starts make sense. As far as Garland, I think he will be good either home or road and a simulated game should keep him sharp enough....

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Nope.. probably since I went to Richards in Oak Lawn.. LOL. A ton of my HS friends work in Oakbrook and I always see them at Anyways or at Palmers in LaGrange. lol sorry misscommunication it's been a long day

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) 91. I'm an old hag... haha, i'm hesitant to name any names, but a Joe Bleers, Steve Harper, Paul Faulkenberg? they may be 92 or 91, they're my "old" friends

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I always see people I went to HS there also. I'm going to "dirty Champs" Leaving here just before 3. ah, a fellow Warrior, Proud class of '97, most of my friends graduated in 95... Steph, I know it's rude to ask a lady her age, but what year did you graduate? if I can make white trash champs I'll wear my Kelly Wunsch jersey, hence I'll be easy to identify

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) What about dirty Champ's on Roosevelt? Champps with two Ps is too classy for me. We also call it "White Trash Champs" but go there often. I'm in Villa Park, so if you guys go there I might go, Anyways is a no go for me because I went to Willowbrook High School 8 years ago and Anyways is always like an unwanted HS reunion

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Bernie Mac is a big sox fan... ... Fox (the network for whom he works) made him sing the 7th inning stretch on a Fox broadcast at Wrigley one day. He refused to sing "root root root for the cubbies" if memory serves me right this wasn't just any game, I believe it was the Bartman game, and he's now part of the curse because Cubs fans think he's part of it since it was a Sox fan singing the 7th inning stretch. You could tell Mac wasn't thrilled to be doing it and I think he might have said something weird during it. If the Sox go deeper you will see a lot of mugging for the camera.

There was another bizzare ESPN announcing moment regarding this game. On Sportscenter they spent a good 5 minutes breaking it down with the main BBTN crew of Ravich, Kruk, Gammons, and Reynolds. Gammons it saying how well Jenks pitched and then Ravich asked him about the Red Sox and their backs against the wall. Gammons goes on to say you can obviously never count the Red Sox out, but he thinks it will just be too tough to sweep Garcia, Garland and Contreras. Then Ravich like snaps on Gammons and said, in a real snotty tone, "So now that the White Sox are up 2-0 you're with them." Gammons has this completely puzzled look on his face and was trying to say something but Ravich cut him off and let Kruk talk. Now I've been hard on Gammons over the years for being a homer for Boston, but it's on the website that he picked the White Sox to win this series and has been consistent with his reasoning, being that the pitching for the White Sox is too strong and Red Sox pitching is too weak with the loss of Lowe and Pedro. It's worth catching on one of the Sportscenter replays if they use it.

Also when the Red Sox young reliever came in and hit 94 on the gun I thought Berman was going to s*** himself, then Bobby comes in smokes 98 with his first pitch and Berman says jack s***. It took Piazza or Sutcliffe, then Gammons on ESPN after the game, to say how wicked those fastballs were to Damon

i was calling MB every swear in the book during the 3rd, but I have to tip my hat to him, he stopped the bleeding and gave his team a chance to get back in it.
-
That's why this game was crucial. Red Sox have an AWESOME offense, no doubt about it, but they have to sweep MB, Garland, and Garcia just to avoid a game 5 against a fully rested Count. Simmons will either say how great the Red Sox are if they win this series or how hurt and flawed they were. He will not give the White Sox any credit win or lose. I use to like him, but his columns have been retreads the last year or so.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Is it me or did the Anaheim crowd not seem very into the game? Yeah, i noticed that too, but it was an odd starting time, 5:30 in CA, you know because NY is all that matters, and f*** everyone else. I've spent some time in the LA area and traffic is always bad, but at that time it's impossible to get anywhere in a reasonable time, it had to be a complete nightmare. Also, I think Colon's health has been shaky, his back?, so they might have been holding their breaths to see how he was, and 4 straight hits with 2 outs leading to 3 runs can take a crowd out quickly, that's why it was key the Count shut down the Red Sox after Edgar's double...

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) This is the one game that scares me...a lot. I am afraid Wells might just completely shut us down and Buehrle does what he usually does vs. Boston. PROVE ME WRONG SOX yeah, i'm scared s***less of Wells. This guy is a big game pitcher, and he is going to be ready for tomorrow, Mark will have to pitch his ass off.

QUOTE(bkmoney @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) i swear i heard AJP talking about david wells "sticking it in our butts" or something along that lines anyone else hear that. i want video What he basically said was today is over, and if they think the Red Sox are going to roll over they're wrong. Then he basically said Wells is going to try and "stick it up our butt"

AND THATS A WHITE SOX PLAYOFF WINNER
SoxFan562004 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was there too, simply awesome. When Clement got pulled and they played "Goodbye" I thought the roof was going to blow off, it was a ton of fun. I liked the postgame comments by the White Sox where they seemed mellow and realize the score for tomorrow is 0-0.... lets go MB! -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) It will hit me sometime tomorrow afternoon. Especialy when looking at the scoreboards and seeing only a couple games. it will hit me when i'm trying to park

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Steve Phillips picked our White Sox over the Red Sox on BBTN last night. I nearly fainted. Wow, that is the insane. Phillips was all over the White Sox all year, I can't believe that. Now I am getting nervous

ESPN 1000 just reported the 25 man roster for the Boston series... all the usual suspects are there, however El Duque got the nod over B-mac. They will carry 11 pitchers. Also, Willie Harris is on, as well as Blum.

i'm actually suprised how split the opinions are on this series. Listening to the radio, watching TV and doing some reading, it seems "experts" are actually giving the White Sox a shot. I think some people just can't overlook that Red Sox pitching staff and bullpen...

Thanks to everyone who sent congrats, I truly appreciate it! I went to DePaul law...

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) are you gonna join a firm or will you be independent. I would like to join a firm at first to get my feet wet, but at some point I would like to branch out on my own

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) CONGRATS!!! That is a huge accomplishment. What kind of law are you planning on practicing? Thank you very much. I'm not 100% sure, I did family law in school, but wasn't thrilled with that, so the world is my oyster!!

Sorry mods, I know there's a thread for updates like this, so please feel free to merge, but I passed the IL Bar Exam!!!!! Just wanted to post here because the whole process sucks, and Soxtalk was a great oasis many times I was stressing heavily...

WTF? I was in Madison yesterday so I missed that the Sox lineup was actually an issue. Articles on ESPN.com, Levine making a complete jackass of himself. I think every team has done this sort of lineup thing after the division. My main problem with it is when would enough be enough? So Ozzie starts his normal lineup, does he have to play them all game? Did MB have to throw 120 pitches? Did he have to handle the bullpen like a playoff game? The second guessing would never end, so why even start it? If Boston or NY fans have a problem with it, be mad at your own ball clubs for not sewing up a spot earlier, don't rely on the White Sox to do your dirty work. The east coast biased media put all the blame on the Sox during their "collapse" Finally, Levine should be pulled off the Sox beat for the playoffs, what a smug asshole to call MLBers "scrubs." If it was the Cubs he would call them "prospects" This isn't the first time Levine has made himself a story, there's a tape Steve Dahl plays every now and then of Levine telling a Cubs GM, I think it was Ed Lynch, that he wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for him, and then Lynch goes crazy and starts yelling at him as well as some players, it's pretty funny... I'm going to write a letter to ESPN 1000 program director to see if there was an apology or anything
