Cleveland vs. Chicago 09/21/05 7:05PM CT

what's the White Sox record since Aug. 1? That's when they had the 15 game lead, and now I've been hearing how it's all the Indians playing hot, but if Sox are playing around .500 all they would of had to do is play like 4 games over .500 and this would be over... sigh, unreal, this was a kick in the gut. It wouldn't suck so much if Santana wasn't going tomorrow, Sox have zero chance against him, espicially with those swings tonight, Post game comments will be more of the same BS, about how they're still in a good position, we're leading, blah blah blah... -

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) Let me qualify my statement: pitched very well until Ozzie left him in for one too many batter, yet again. i agree 100% he pitched out of some big jams and got left out to dry by Ozzie, it was a shame -

what's the wild card situation now? I think Yankees won and Red Sox lost, so that means Red Sox are a half game behind the tribe? Sox are 3 up in wild card? -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) what gets me is how simple this is. if Jon shuts them out tonight, we're not only fine, we're actually safe to win this damn division. Doesn't happen in our home part and suddenly the outlook is as bleak as ever with tomorrow's automatic loss to go with the 3 games we will lose in cleveland to close the season. totally, HUGE game to win tonight and they lay an absolute egg offensively with a horrible approach. If B-Mac can get a win tomorrow he should be starting in the playoffs, there's no doubt in my mind -

I've been saying this the whole second half during the offensive swoon, Borchard should have gotten a shot to play. There's no way he could have been anyworse than what they were rolling out there... -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) This is now a statement game for Cleveland. They kicked our ass in game three just like they salted away KC, 11-0. Good luck trying to hang on, you anemic White Sox. This game is in Chicago for godsakes and we get our asses kicked in the rubber game. Can anybody not blast the team after this one???? There's no way to defend this team, JG pitched well IMO, but should have never been pitching to Travis in the 8th. The offense was a complete joke, it was so obvious they were all swinging for the fences, you can't pop out that much without taking massive swings... -

tonight's game was really a dissapointment. After the thrilling win yesterday I thought the Sox would jump on the momentum and get on Elarton and his +4.50 ERA, but instead they all tried to hit HRs and hit the most popups I can remember seeing. This was a big game, Santana is 6-0 with something like an .80 ERA against the Sox in his last 6 starts against them, so it will be a 2 game lead in the loss column. If Sox split with the Twins, odds are Cleveland will keep rolling and sweep KC, so it will be a 1 game lead going into Monday... IMO Sox will be tied for 1st in Central or a game up on the wild card going into Cleveland It's a disservice what Ozzie did to JG tonight, he pitched his ass off and got out of a few jams, but he kept him out there, What the f*** does Cotts have to do to get respect? He should have been pitching to Hafner -

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Lets call them and tell them to get the Cleveland Feed!!! Farmer said hopefully 5-10 minutes I think Cleveland is still FSN, so that won't be happening -
Is Comcast SN acting funny for anyone else?

To me the Twins didn't think it was intentional, or atleast Boone didn't because I'm sure he would have freaked out if he thought it was. -
QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) NOoo, 2 is not enough, remember we still have 4 with Minn who will throw out Santana which means at least 1 loss that series. The goal should be 4 and 3 is pushing it. hey, 3 or 4 would be awesome, but i'm just being realistic, I think 2 would be OK
-
QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Not yet, we still have 5 games left with the Tribe, taking at least 3 or 4 would be good enough if we play good ball the rest of the way. Ofcourse it would be nice to just sweep them here and go on a winning streak but thats doubtful. The playoff spot will come down to the sox and tribe the last 3 games of the season with one taking the WC and the other the division. The Sox don't even have to take that many, I think taking 2 would still be OK, it would be a 3 game lead in the loss column

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) A great point was made about Dye attempting a bunt when he really has no chance to get a bunt down. How many times have we seen White Sox players attempt bunts who have absolutely no chance of ever succeeding since Ozzie took over. And his biggest apologist, the guy who can't stop taking swipes at a class act in Jerry Manuel, always spouts off a good manager doesn't ask a player to do something he isn't capable of doing. Hey Hawk, are you watching the same games as us? yeah, I agree. Dye should have been pinch hit for if Ozzie wanted a bunt or told to go up there with a normal approach, none of this in between BS...

QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) I always read "meltdown" threads on this board and I try to tell myself that I'll never let it get to that point. Well I want to make it clear that I'm not melting down, jumping off the wagon, bailing out, jumping s***, etc. I'm 24 years old, this has been the best season of White Sox baseball in my young life. I have been to 24 games this year, living and dying with the 9 Pale Hose on the field on each and every given night. This being said, right now I am having such a hard time just being a fan. It isn't because I'm pissed at Ozzie or the offense or the pitching, it's because when I watch this team I don't feel any energy, I don't feel like they have any heart. Tonight I saw glimpses of what was a great team but in the end they couldn't hold on like they were at the beginning of the year. All I want is to be in the playoffs, no matter if it is by winning the division or via the wild card. This isn't meant to be a post to stir anything up, or to say how bad the sox are playing right now, I'm just frustrated right now, just trying to hold on to the hope that this team can find whatever it is they lost and pull it together for the last 13 games. like I said, all the Sox really need to do is win one game this series, that's a 3 game lead in the loss column after the series and a real good position, but Indians have a ton of momentum now and I can see them sweeping the series with 2 blowouts, JG's start on Fri. gave me hope

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) I really can say I have confidence in our players. Our manager will be the death of us.... not after the Pablo leadoff double fiasco

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) I'd prefer not to have a dips*** for a manager who puts in a reliever who essentially quit on the team into the game with the season on the line.... There is no way to explain why Jizz or Marte were ever used. Hell I would have left in Cotts. The guy has a .43 era since the all-star break. He's given up one run in that span. He can get out righties and lefties. He used to be a starter. Is is a sin to let him pitch to more than a batter or two? man Aboz, I can not agree with you more about Cotts starting that inning and then having Cliff ready to back him up, they have been the most solid out of the bullpen and Oz just ignored one and limited the other, it was truly sad

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) We lost, tomorrow is another day, we will get em!!! I wish I could be as optomistic as you man, but they have done nothing in the last month to give me that mental state. It's f***ing crazy, this team really only needs to win one game in each of these Cleveland series and they should be OK, if they somehow pull of 3 they're good as gold, but after tonight they may lose all 6 against the Indians. Mark has been so dissapointing lately and I keep thinking that his next start will be the one to snap him out of it, but the starts keep getting worse, I don't see how he will snap out of it. Haffner is not the type of player who will be scared by MB for hitting him in his head, he will be pissed and want to tear MB up, and I think he will...

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Maybe this collapse is some sort of master plan to get in as the Wild Card seeing how the last three champs were the Wildcard winners or maybe this team really does suck. The other day I posted that this will be The Hawks stance soon, maybe after the 3rd inning tomorrow win the tribe is up by 5 runs
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) I'm not all that confident when any of our late inning guys come in nowadays. Bobby can be great and also bad. I feel about Viz the way some of you do marte. Viz really sucks. Right now I have a ton of confidence in Cotts and confidence in Pollite, so of course Ozzie limits Cotts tonight and doesn't pitch Cliff at all... unreal
-
this is typicall White Sox baseball late in the season. Realistically all this team has to do is win 2 of the 6 against the Indians and it would only be a 2 game swing in the division, but after tonight I predict 1 out of 6. Between Ozzie handling the bullpen and not scoring Pablo after the leadoff double it's deja vu all over again. Is Ozzie and MB going to complain that it wasn't SRO? I have zero faith in MB tomorrow. I use to have a ton of respect for Mark, but this 2nd half has really changed that. b****ing about the mysterious Cubs player who doctors the ball, complaining people are stealing his pitches, and the unecessary attacks on the Sox fans about attendance after this is going one of the best attended years in the new park. The topper is his pitching as of late... ah, I feel much better... I'm going to the Brewers game tomorrow, so I'll watch the debacle on the stadium scoreboard

Ozzie did a horrible job tonight... Cotts should have faced the righty and stayed in for the 8th, to put Viz and Marte in there was horrible... and Dye should have gone down bunting or pinch hit Willie to do it, that was a huge run and they pissed it away, 100% embarassing
