  1. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) So... Todd Walker.. sounds good to me!
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Well, I'm confused by this thread. There was one post that said Levine thinks the deal will indeed happen in the next day or so, and now he's saying he doesn't think Griffey will go to Reds mgmt. and ask for a trade? He covered both his basis within 48 hours, now on September 1st he can say he had the right story
  3. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) A quick look at Griffey's YTD stat line: .298 average, 32 homers, 89 rbi, 82 runs, .365 OBS, .571 SLG, .936 OPS, runners on base .302, RISP w/ 2 outs .327, .310 avg vs righties Past month: .343 avg, 9 homers, 21 rbi, 21 runs I swear, Bruce better not just be stirring s*** up...
  4. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Yeah I heard it twice today on ESPN1000. It was some Saturday programming with Tom Cher (sp?). They were on till about 2:00 pm. They had their original interview with Bruce sometime in the noon hour and then replayed it right b4 they were done with the show. I'll support the original poster on this too, I heard it as well. Kind of glossed over it because I've heard similar reports the last few weeks, thought I was having deja vu!! But I did hear it.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) Curt should have also included an apology to Canseco in his comments, IMO, if he was going to say anything at all. I honestly believe a lot of people owe an apology to Canseco. I know people may say that Canseco is just a money grubber, but a lot of people slammed him when his book came out calling him a liar and such, even at the Congressional hearing, and a lot is proving to be true
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) Although you have to shake your head everytime the Yanks trade away prospects, I believe this deal is a good one. It will give them the CF they've been looking for and it may pay dividens down the strech. As for the Cubs waiving the white flag: oh yeah. I'd have a firesale and get rid of as much of that dead-weight as possible. Hendry bascially traded Jason DuBose for this Berg kid. I agree, as great as Bernie has been for the Yankees it was obvious he could not cover any ground in CF, it is a good move by the Yanks
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Isn't Giles a UFA after this season? Maybe they know they won't resign him and just want something in return. I think after his numbers have TANKED in the new park, he probably has zero desire to resign there and told the Padres as much
  8. I rewatched the Ford at-bat on Tivo like 3 times, it was awesome!!!
  9. When did he have his arm surgery? If this is the first year coming off it, Herm (the trainer) and the rest of the Sox medical staff could have decided to monitor his innings.
  10. FWIW, White Sox postgame just said that the White Sox outrighted a member of their 40-man roster to AAA, meaning there's only 39 on there now... could mean a trade is ready or could mean nothing!
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) What are we going to face in the playoffs? Minor leaugers? If we cant hit against them now theres NO WAY we are going to hit against them in the playoffs. You can take that straight to the bank. hey, we have great chemistry!!! maybe KW meant that Timo is really a chemist and is whipping up a concotion similar to flubber to help the Sox during the post season...
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Hell, send down Crede. Look at Carlos Pena since he came back to the MLB team! oh we'll be seeing it when he's hitting big HRs against the Sox down the stretch... I got a crystal ball, and I heard Hawk during tomorrow's game.... Hawk chuckles.. "well, that's what I love about baseball, you just can't explain it! Guy is average against most of the league, then 'poof' put him against a certain team and he looks like Cy Young" this is after Joe Mays strikes out his 7th batter on his umpteenth hanging curveball
  13. Really? This is what they say after a loss like tonight?!?!?! I can't believe it.... Ozzie, PK, listen up... Your pitcher gave up 1 god damn hit and you lost the f'n game.... there is nothing positive to take out of it. Paulie, your team has been getting beat AND losing games for the last two weeks. f***, i can't believe this s***, did you see the looks on their faces tonight before the last out? Did you see the Twins and their fans... they own you, you know it and so do they. Did Ozzie go to "Dusty Baker's Symposium on Post Game Interviews" I swear to F, if Ozzie says the word "dude," starts wearing sweatbands, and has a child on his lap during press conferences I'm going to go crazy
  14. Holy f***ing s***! I cannot believe these quotes. Simply unreal. This team should be saying they are embarassed about how they've played, and apologizing to FG. These are such a bleak out look for the last 5 weeks. What the f*** is Ozzie talking about? Did he see A-Row at bat today? He had ZERO chance. Also, great pitchers like Santana pitch to their ballpark. He knew what he was doing the whole game, unreal, i can't believe these two clowns.
  15. it's time KW or Ozzie say something stronger or DO something stronger in KW's case. No more "we're comfortable with Pablo and Timo at leadoff" crap. OK, maybe KW has exhausted every possible trade scenario from this point, then Owens or Borchard should have a ticket to MN in their hands right now. Timo can go or Anderson can be sent back down, something needs to be shaken up. Are minor leaguers the best option? Maybe not, statistically it's impossible for them to do any worse. I don't want to hear ANY injury to Pods/Carl/Kong in the last few weeks from KW or Ozzie either (not that I have) because Atlanta went through a stretch of injuries that was insane, and they had the bench and minor league system to pull them through.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) The waiver deadline passed. Last time I checked its still August so we can still add someone. Lets see what our guys are doing to right this ship. The majority of our lineup has completely died. Joe Crede has a .115 BA and a .167 OBP Timo the offical fluffer has a .176BA and a .243 OBP. Pablo is .190BA with a .261 OBP Jermaine Dye is at .203BA with a .235OBP and get this a .297 slugging percentage Rowand is leading the team in Ks and hitting .230 with a .260OBP. Gooch is hitting .250 with and a .308 OBP. Uribe is hitting .231 with a .317OBP. Now look at his OBP and he is a meathead and compare him to the rest of the strikeout kings. The medicore part AJ hitting .269 The good Everett is hitting .298 Kong is hitting .333 with 1.200 OPS But why in the name of god would I give Kong something good to hit. He has Arow and Dye protecting him. The ship looks like its on its way to offensive bliss to me. Where would they play?
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Do you think Freddy honestly took anything from this game other than, "f***! with this pitiful offense I have to throw a complete game shutout to get a win. Maybe."? yeah totally, he looked at what Benson and Clement signed for in the offseason and probably determined he doesn't like Ozzie THAT much anymore!
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) But Irish, The trade deadline is passed. There are no options. Enjoy the ride; we are gonna right the ship. there will be a bat or two moved before 9/1. Now, the quality of the bats may be in question, but a player like Todd Walker will be moved, maybe even a Cliff Floyd. Again, one may argue they wouldn't help, but I wouldn't be suprised with Rolen out Jocketty (sp?) in St. Louis pulls a solid trade off...

    Laguna Beach..

    little off topic, but what's the deal with this show? Is it like real world reality? To me it seems they reshoot scenes of things that actually happened, or does it just look different because it's shot on film, thus it's just my mind playing tricks on me?
  20. I'm not heading towards the edge yet, but I did mapquest directions
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) All I know is Jacques Jones has more balls than any of our hitters. He always comes through with clutch hits for the Twins, especially against the Sox. Anytime that Iguchi wants to get a hit with RISP would be fine with me now. s***, anytime Rowand wants to take a swing where it looks like he has a prayer would be OK with me. His ABs tonight rivaled Crede's from the last homestand of how awful they looked
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Does anyone actually believe that our lineup is just all of a sudden come to life tomorrow, and score some runs against Mays? Hell, even if one or two guys pick their game up, we still have a lot of other guys in the lineup struggling. Do you think Hawk is watching old films and taking notes so he can pass along some more wisdom like "Cy Mays" and "oh yeah, his numbers are bad, but get certain players against certain teams and there's nothing you can do." although for tomorrow's game I'm predicting one of those where the Sox finally score like 7-10 runs, but of course it will be the night the pitchers get shelled... Lew Ford will get the big hit to take the lead so we can hear "that guy swings a magic wand against us" man I can not wait!
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Based on what? A two week sample? Anybody want to tell me what Cleveland's record is against us this year? as they are currently playing, specifically the horrible at bats, that's what I'm basing it on.
  24. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) what a ridiculous day That sums it up very well IMO, a serious World Series/playoff team can't lose this game, and the Sox did and have been losing similar games for 2 weeks...
  25. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Umm, why? If we win in the playoffs I guarantee NOBODY will be talking about this game. Do you guys actually expact the Sox to keep losing 8 of 9 with Cleveland playing TB every night? no, but sox can lose 6 out of 9, and Cleveland plays KC or Tampa every night.
