QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Moreover, don't put too much stock in the Boston series. We lucked out a ton. Clement gave us Game 1 (though anyone who watched the 2003 NL Playoffs probably could have predicted it), and Graffanino gave us both Game 2 and Game 3 (he swung at TWO ball fours from el duque). Clearly, much of what we did came from our own merit, but we played good enough for maybe a 5 game win. We swept because Boston blew it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a damn trollish, Tim Wakefield thing to say. :headshake

Stoneman lets another good reliever go for nothing

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) "you can never have too much pitching"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the Angels thought it was "catchers" instead of "pitching." -
Yanks = Red Sox part II. Bring 'em on.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) DITKA=GOD <{POST_SNAPBACK}> DITKA=SELLOUT How much longer until he starts doing tampon commercials?

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) I like what Marte brings over Viz. Period. I still think Marte will get a huge out for us. I have no faith in Viz to do anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's all YOUR opinion yet you think "we all can agree that Marte is better than Viz" despite the stats (i.e. FACTS) saying otherwise. Why not McCarthy over Marte? Is it Viz's fault that Hermanson, Politte, and Jenks have been this good this year? Would you rather have Marte s*** his pants in a clutch situation or have Viz do a better job than Marte when he is called upon? You haven't anwered any of my questions, so I'll just move along.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Why not McCarthy instead of Viz?????? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why McCarthy instead over Marte? I want McCarthy and Vizcaino in the bullpen. Marte can stay home.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Marte>Viz. McCarthy>Viz. End of story. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Way to back up your claim. I think I'm really wasting my time with you Mr. Marte Jr.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Hooray for Viz being able to come in in no pressure situations, and lowering that era. And then when he gets into a mess, another reliever bailing him out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought be listing Hermanson, Politte, and Jenks people would be smart enough to realize that Viz hasn't been able to have the same situations as Marte. Is it somehow Viz's fault that Hermanson, Jenks, and Politte all have been lights out this year? Have to give props to Marte for the previous series. Can't recall too many pitchers with an infinite WHIP and --- ERA.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Where's Viz? Oh i forgot, he can't get Lh's or Rh's out. He's Great. :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How did I know this would come up? I don't recall saying I wanted Viz as the lefty specialist. You guys want Marte as the second lefty man because he is lefthanded. I have shown you that there are 4 RHP better than Marte at getting lefties out. What is Marte's use again? Vizcaino can eat up innings, that is the only time I expect to see him in the playoffs (like the Braves-Astros game on right now.) Marte is completely worthless. VS. RHP: Marte: .817 OPS Viz: .692 OPS difference: .125 VS. LHP: Marte: .767 Viz: .857 difference: .090 Overall OPS: Marte: .791 Viz: .762 Viz > Marte It's not like I want to see Viz pitch. I rather see both of them not pitch, but I'm a 100% sure that if Marte is on the roster, Ozzie will use his s***ty ass because the batter is left handed.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) BeCaUsE yOu HaVe To HaVe TwO lEfTiEs!!!!!!111!!1!!!!!!!!!11!!11111!!!11 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If there's anything that'll stop the Angels or the Yanks it'll be our decoys in the bullpen!!! :rolly

OPS against LH batters Jenks: .414 McCarthy: .602 Politte: .579 Hermanson: .721 Marte: .767 So much for being a lefty specialist. Keeping Marte off the roster will prevent Ozzie from making the mistake of using Marte against a left hander. We have 4 right handers who are better than Marte against left handers. Tell me again why we must have Marte ready if a left hander steps up?

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Viz's #'s are better in the 2nd half, because he came in when the game was basically over. NO pressure. Hence much better #'s. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you'd rather have Marte s*** his pants in a tough situation than have Vizcaino do his job. Here's a few reasons why Viz wasn't in the same situations as Marte: Hermanson, Politte, and Jenks.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Viz blows too. At least Marte has shown he can get a Big K, Viz has shown me ABSOLUTELY nothing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could've sworn I just saw someone post the second half splits of Marte and Viz in response to one of your posts. Did you miss it? Marte is f***ing terrible.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) One left handed reliever in the ALCS...errrr...I dunno. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm pretty sure the Angels went with an all right handed bullpen for the ALDS, and I wouldn't doubt they use the same bullpen in the ALCS if they make it.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Also, I didnt say it was the hardest to play, I said it was the most important. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're dead wrong. Ever hear of the phrase "being strong up the middle?" Why do Jason Giambi and David Ortiz play first in NL games? Wouldn't it be better to put them at a less defense reliable position like third base or right field? :rolly
-
QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) While we are moving people around to positions they once played we can..... Play Carl at CF Paulie at 3rd Jermaine at 1st can Ozzie play SS still? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's so unrealistic of moving a outfielder to first base?

QUOTE(LDF @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) beside what you wrote about him, what does anyone have to say on this guy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He owned us as soon as he got called up. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Bandwagon fans piss all of us off. During 2003 down here in Champaign, there were tons of Cubs bandwagoners. Now, there are people jumping on our bandwagon. I just don't want to deal with em. That's why i watch the games in my apartment with SnB (instead of hitting up a bar). I don't want to deal with all the ignorance of complete bandwagon jumpers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everyone I've been watching the games with really know their game. The female Sox fans are 100X smarter than the female "Cubs fans" back in 2003.

I would like to see Buehrle and Garcia pitch in Anaheim rather than @ USCF. Anaheim is where Buehrle had that 9 IP, 2 ER ND.

Got a Jenks jersey home pinstripe.

Has anyone actually gotten a jersey there before? A poster at WSI said he got replica lettering on a Robin Ventura jersey when he thought it was authentic. Edit: Got it

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) no he said both of them. Look move on. He made a mistake. It's over and done. If any of you are still upset because frank got robbed of an MVP frank has moved on to. He said that Giambi deserved it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm pretty sure had Frank won that MVP in 2000, the Sox would've been unable to exercise the "Diminished Skills" clause costing Frank MILLIONS. But it's all fair because Giambi said he's sorry.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) yes and he did it with class to. He is a guy that you root for. Unlike Bonds and Sosa who are real pricks Giambi is supposed to be a very nice guy. He made a mistake. However I'm sure he regrets doing it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, let's all feel sorry for that poor steroid abuser who used them to get an edge above the competition. Why don't you ask Frank what he thinks of Giambi? Frank losts million due to that cheater who f***ing lied to the entire fanbase of the MLB. Remember the ESPN interview? "Did you ever use steroids?" (Paraphrasing) "No, and that's what upsets me because I worked my butt off and people make these kinds of accusations." :headshake
