    Ignore Feature

    QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) On principle alone I will avoid ever using the ignore feature. If all persons are created equal in terms of their right to speak & be heard then I should not discriminately choose to ignore one over the other. However; I do see merit on a temporary basis when a discussion gets out of control. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :headshake To my understanding, everyone register at soxtalk has the right to post. I still don't understand how being on someone's ignore list is considered to be violating your right to post. If you don't want to be on one's ignore list, don't be an asshole, post dumb s***, or just be plain obnoxious. Well at least those are my standards.
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) If what you said was true then why the hell didn't KW trade Lee for Soriano? Based on everything I read the Rangers were looking to add strength to their OF. KW could have given them Lee+Harris for Soriano. Maybe a middle prospect as well. He takes care of power & leadoff in one move. That's why I just don't buy it. I think the Rangers were simply demanding too much based on Soriano's star status & no one met their price. That's not the same as actively shopping him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Soriano does not improve the defense, and he would've sucked up more money that would have been used to sign AJ or El Duque.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) If the Giants want to overpay, for an extended period of time, for an old SS. Let them. Signing Uribe was a much smarter move than what SF did with OV. But then, Cabrera's a GOD! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and had the Sox matched SF's offer or gave Omar even more money, Anthrax would be screaming how KW overpaid for him. :rolly He likes to have it both ways.
  5. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Matt Im serious dont you think Borchard for Rollins and Wolf maybe the phillies will thrown in Thome as well if we gave them adkins or willie harris <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :headshake how old are you? Would you trade Paul Konerko, Freddy Garcia, and Juan Uribe for Julio Lugo and Dannys Baez?
  6. I remember Setta playing for Lockport seeing him nailing field goals from the 50 yard line during warmups.
  7. QUOTE(blacksaturdayrevisted @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) As for the "disrespecting moderators decisions" how is it ok to call in question George W. Bush's actions which actually have global and real effect on our lives, but it's not ok for me to call in question the actions of moderators on some meaningless website? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  8. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Someone needs to change the title. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Sox were rumored to be interested in Rollins a couple a years ago too. Rosenthal sure likes to talk about Sox rumors.
  9. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) i know remember the trade, it was ray to oak for adkins and a ptbnl who wounded up being cotts. diaz came from sfo for lofton <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 2002: Ray for Adkins and $ 2002: Lofton for Diaz and Meaux 2003: Mark Johnson, Keith Foulke, Joe Valentine for Billy Koch and Neal Cotts
  10. Frank Caliendo of MAD TV does great impressions of John Madden and Jim Rome. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lewis Black yet.
  11. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Saw this on WSI, Les Grobstein is reporting that the Sox have designated Burke for assignment. Les' Page <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Best of luck to Jamie! (Please no more memories of Navarro)
  12. Here's some sound clips I have made: Hawk calls the last out of the 1993 clincher. Frank's walkoff against the angels in 2003 Konerko's 2 run homer off of Joe Blorowski to give the Sox the lead back in 2002 Aaron Rowand's game tying homer off of Antonio ALfonseca in 2003.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Does she ever ask you why "the Simpsons" is on so much? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I bought all of the DVD's for a reason.

    Nickleback OWNED

    QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Every time I listen to this it amazes me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it's catchy.
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) When is the trade deadline for the off-season? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ummmmm, none. Guys get traded to other teams during camp. Rick White was traded from the Dodgers to the Indians, and the Twins traded $1 to the Mariners for Terry Mulholland last year.
  16. Aboz, in response to some of your comments; The Garcia trade was fine, and it was even better that we got him to sign a 3 year extension so quickly. Maggs was expected back before the trade deadline, and there was talking about moving him for more pitching. Which pitcher wouldn't get hammered at the Cell after pitching in a pitcher's park? We were coming off a huge series with Cubs and we were heading to Minnesota for a 3 game series (which we f***ing swept them,) so I don't but this bulls*** that we weren't contending. We were getting a ton of national exposure on ATH, SC, and I,Max to name a few. Let's not forget, the 2004 Sox were in first place on Memorial Day, the All-Star break, and as late as July 27th. How exactly would you have expected us to sign 2 SP's (3 if we didn't get Contreras) with this Market? But I forgot the most important part, we would've still had Reed and Olivo!! :rolly
  17. That's what I always tell my mom when she asks me what I'm doing in my room.
  18. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Boras will say anything, don't trust a word that jag off says. It was on the front page of MLB.com a few hours ago. Not a big deal, but I still don't think he'll sign with the Mets, they are awful. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know this isn't a good source, but this is the rumor thread, but take a look at their message board. Supposedly Boras took the Mets' offer to the Yankees, and the Yanks refused to match it.
  19. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) The Mets are not telling a fan site about a signing when they've publicly said they haven't offered a contract yet. No way on Sosa, they'd turn towards Delgado before Sosa, unless they can deal off a couple of horrendous contract's on the Cubs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't Boras say he received offers from every team in the Beltran sweepstakes? Newsday was originally reporting that the Mets offered $119 million.
  20. Some third-hand gossip. Over at the Cubs' board (NSBB.com) they are posting that two sources within the Mets organization told a Mets fansite that Beltran will sign with them for 7 years $112 million. Someone else posted that ESPNews was reporting that the Beltran and Mets agree in principle on a contract. George Ofman was on the snore last night breaking Mike Murphy's heart by telling him even after signing Beltran, the Mets would still show interest in Sosa because Cameron is out until June.
  21. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's great!
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Damnit anthrax your sigs too damn big. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't notice anything different about the thread. BTW SS2k5, this is the third thread on this. You're just trying to increase your post count aren't you?
  23. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) I forgot about Alex, damn it...Yea he was solid in '93...How did we not win the series with the Jack, Wilson, and Alez 1-2-3 in the playoffs?! Alex's in '93 takes the place of Colon in '03 for me... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> McDowell was tipping his pitches in the playoffs. I'm surprise people are taking Bartolo over Jason Bere of 1993 and 1994. I'd also nominate 2003 Flash Gordon for the pen.
