Very solid - now let’s get a pitcher that maybe can be flipped.
  2. I don't think that place has the right culture where you'd want to go. Minter is a really bright young mind and Doyle is going to get to do his thing and has an all pro QB. If he does well - he'll be a head coach in 3 years (if he wants it). I think BJ doesn't stand in the way - will be interesting to see where he goes and I wish Doyle best of luck.
  3. They still have a long ways to go - but they are not anywhere close to the worst JR franchise / worse franchise in Chicago. Bulls are in such a worse spot. Sox actually feel like they are in the best position in a long time - with a new owner looming (and at this point - I have to assume anything is better) combined with at least what is an improving farm system and development org. But they are still a ways off and I would like nothing more than see them ink Gio to a 1 and 1 type deal (tradeable asset) and/or someone else. None of those moves prevent you from getting the 11th pick in the draft (which is best club can do) and I'd also like to see us find ways for the org to acquire some more draft picks / international money in the future. But more than anything - combo of a new owner and improving system (combined with a golden opportunity upcoming in this year(s) draft - and Its best I have felt in a long time (even though the major league club will still be very very bad).
  4. So this date 45 years ago was when we signed up for pure misery at Sox fans. Really can't underestimate how unfortunate JR's run has been to 2 of my big 3 franchise(s).
  5. I really wish at this point the bulls would bring Thibs in. Feels like the franchise was cursed as soon as they kicked him to the curb. Donovan has been here longer than Thibs. If nothing else - let Thibs create the culture for a few years and get this thing to turn and replace him with a different coach in 4 years. Or make him the president and let him bring in a GM etc. Anything is better than the clowns we have. I’d rather bring back Gar.
  6. In fairness, everyone in baseball said the same thing.
  7. I love the standard he sets and the directness in how he speaks and he doesn’t without naming names but still being very clear.
  8. Never thought he’d end up being a salary dump but it is what it is at this point. I’d have kept him and hoped his talent would have matched but I get it. Robert always seemed to work hard and I wish him best in New York. Wish they would have eaten some salary but maybe it didn’t get much? But I’d like to see them invest somewhere - but maybe they just front ran the one free agent signing?
  9. I think we see defense stay similar - loss of turnovers will be offset by a better D. Offensively I think they will be better. Overall though tougher completion and a few less breaks - but I see it kind of of setting each other. The big thing is can Caleb take that big step and obviously do we see the same from some of the offensive weapons. I believe the talent is there, the want is their and the staff to push them is there!
  10. It sucks - Moore made a mistake just as Loveland did on the 2nd pick. Both of those are huge plays of wideout and TE make right read. That said it happens and it is still year 1. There was clearly a miscommunication and Moore still willed himself to play through injured and was otherwise having a pretty darn good game and a good final stretch of the season. The way this year ended set a great launch point but I also think there a ton of coachable moments and growth opportunities to come from the loss on the offensive side of the ball and I hope after they let their bodies rest we see Caleb put in a ton of work on enhancing his footwork and clubs (ie better use of touch vs power) while also continuing to advance his mastery of the offense. Similarly I hope the whole offensive skill positions continue to put their work in - work the juggs - lots of work with Caleb and lots of work on mastery of the various reads. I expect a big jump from Rome, Luther and Loveland and I think Moore and Kmet still have valuable roles if we keep them - but my guess is one might be traded. At same time Jahdae Walker should be putting in the work too and I’m sure they’ll try another late end weapon too but I expect offense isn’t going to get much new investment this offseason and that is okay. Defensively I think we will see massive change and in draft they should be moving around and just targeting best available defensive player…I trust defensive staff to develop these guys and could see a scenario where it starts slow with lots of new faces and than you see real ascension as season goes. But also - thanks for this team for making it a fun season, hopefully one that we look back at 5 and 10 years from now as the start of a special era in Bears football!!!
  11. Fun season. They had so many chances and a tough way to loose but now leverage that as the next step of the learning process. I expect more growth next year but a lot of work ahead. Caleb and offense have a lot to continue to improve on and defensively the front office and coaching staff are going to be busy. Will be interesting to see what they do at LT too.
  12. Let’s go bears!!! 🐻
  13. Agree - they are doing a press conference for a non-roster invite.
  14. Yeah hes a big boy. Hopefully this is as clean of a version or whatever is most minimal of a severe injury. Have to presume fact he is young helps in this scenario. Guy is huge and was definitely ascending.
  15. Yeah ptact - best news I’ve heard in a while. What sort of recovery time? Only thing I’ve heard is he ruptured his patella tendon.
  16. This and Edward’s injury sucks. What is prognosis for patella tendon injury long term? Trapillo was really getting better and giving me hope we had solved LT.
  17. Holy hell that was insane…one week at a time but let’s win 3 more!!! Let’s go!!!
  18. Let’s go bears!!! 🐻
  19. Cause Bears playoffs is a one time every 5 year kind of thing. Hopefully that was old era and this is start of something real , sustainable and awesome!!!
  20. He really is a stud and by all accounts a very good leader. Hopefully he has great longevity and he adds at least one superbowl here too!
  21. I think of it as you still have Harbaugh and McCarthy. Maybe Tomlin opens up too. And Stefanski is an upgrade to McDaniels, imo. So I think those are all pretty safe / solid hires, especially if you are an org that has been in utter disrepair)...get someone who can establish a culture prescense and build you up. The DC candidates are solid - Pack DC, Flores, and Chargers DC. OC - seems like maybe a bit less there this year as guys just don't have a ton of experience...but I think Nagy is a solid rebound candidate.
  22. Is this related to Mcdaniel? Cause in my mind I have no idea how that didn't happen on Monday. Similarly I think the same way of the Bengals situation.
  23. You have to assess that vs last minute getting a guy because a team or two were over committed.
  24. Interesting the Kingsubry move. I guess this is probably 2 fold - clear disconnect - but maybe they also want to get ahead of replacing Kliff if he gets a gig too. With Jayden there - its still an attractive job for an OC trying to make a name for an eventual HC job. But amazing what a year makes for Washington. Reminder that the goal is sustainable success and I want to see us have another strong season next year, including strong draft etc, to show that we really are different...but at this point, I really think Ben is different in terms of the standard he sets and the relentless pursuit of excellence. And I think he breeds that throughout his coaching ranks and throughout the player ranks.
  25. Not saying he isn't good - but I feel like so many are implying he's going to get a DC job...I think the defense is struggling big time...it has mediocre ends (Booker I like and is an ascending player..looks like a roational pass rusher at a minimum). But the interior of the D is very weak - Poles has failed miserably here (Jarrett, Dexter, Pickens, Shemar (injury), and the Colts guy have all been major investments whether draft picks or free agent spend - yet the production and interior penetration is weak. Running defense is bad, gap control is bad, etc. Dexter has flashed from time to time - but he looks more like a rotational piece than anything else. But when your interior is weak and your ends are mediocre - the combo is even worse...combine that with a poor secondary sans Byard (I have been really bummed out on Brisker as he just doesn't look like the player he was before his concussion issues). Not saying he's bad - but he's not flashing a lot - just a solid safety. The DBs are horrendous - whether Gordon/Jaylon/Smith healthy would have changed that is a moot point. Our LB play has been sub-par too. Edmunds was good to above average pre-injury...since than it hasn't been the same. Hopefully its more of he just isn't 100% (but trending in the right direction)...but that is just a soft D. Good thing is - some of those areas could improve with health / offseason...others could be filled / improved with solid draft picks (you can find good LB's in 2nd/3rd/4th rounds).
