Johnathan Allen was banged up this past year and is 30 - but Commanders just released him. Could be an intriguing interior option and obviously has a pretty strong relationship with Sweat. He has largely been a pretty healthy player with exception to this past year where he tore his pectoral muscle (which in general seems to be a common injury).
-
I actually was surprised - a ton more DB and LB's than I would have expected, but i think this is maybe not a correlation type of component and gets back to - most of this teams have had elite QB play (with exception of the Steelers). I do agree, I don't buy taking a RB in round 1 with rare exception - but that doesn't mean round 2 isn't a good place to go get one (or in free agency grab a high end RB once he is finishing his first contract with the team that drafted him high - ie McCaffrey or Saquon).
-
If Bowers was there, I would legit consider him at 10 in this year's draft if the Bears addressed the other needs, cause he was such a special TE talent.
-
Or Bears trade down with the Bengals and pick up Hendrickson (maybe also trade down in the 2nd round). But basically go from 10 to 17 - pick up Hendrickson and give him a big money deal on your line. Than draft Simmons (presuming you like his medicals) at 17.
-
I could see a scenario where Bears drop back a few picks in 1st round and use one of their 2nd rounders and a future 2nd to move back into the 1st round. Basically take a LT and Dline prospect in 1st round this year.
-
I don’t like trading picks - but these are good trades. Creates depth and upgrades oline while bringing in some vets to also stabilize and help locker room / system. Last year we traded these types of picks for backups - which was stupid - this year you get two interior linemen who will start and you know you have them where as free agency is an unknown. Now they should have a lot of flexibility to go dline or oline early in draft but not have to start a 2nd round guard (for example) asap. Let him grow into role or take your LT and a guard with your 2nd or 3rd. Tney have cap space so now curious if they so go Dalman too. But this is the start - need to also have some more young talent in oline pipeline too.
-
He is way better than Bates. Johnson knows him and when he is healthy he is an above average guard. I think his cap hit is just under 10M.
-
I can understand a few years but 10 plus doesn’t make sense. Not if he really was getting the Twins.
-
I think he will transition into controlling stake sooner than later - eventually actually taking more significant ownership post JR passing. But this basically is a way to start the transition now while mitigating tax consequences for JR.
-
If I was the new owner - I’d have it worked out for a one year transition into and have it set where I take control post deadline. I say that because this team is going to suck this year, so let Jerry own the stink before you swoop in at least one year closer with tons of flexibility to start spending money in 26 and 27.
-
A good owner can flip this valuation and really increase value if they manage Sox right. I believe they are a sleeping Giant - super undervalued relative to potential given size of Chicago market and extensive history.
-
I wondered if this was getting funding in place to help - and maybe there is an agreement along a longer term transition plan to become majority owner - but maybe in a more elongated process to minimize tax consequences for Reinsdorfs.
-
Is this basically getting everything lined up for a seamless transition to a new family in a few years.
-
Regardless of the past - in my mind the answer is clear - you got to gamble on him having a good half - if he does - they will get a much better return and if he doesn’t than you aren’t that much worse off down the road. Right now they aren’t getting a high impact prospect so in my mind don’t move him unless you take on a contract to facilitate getting real talent. If they sell him low that just isn’t a good outcome. This isn’t the same as Cease. I am somewhat hopeful a fresh offseason and fresh start can do wonders for him. But I never thought he would have a year where his production was that low (his tools are just too good).

Bobby Jenks dealing with stage 4 stomach cancer
Chisoxfn replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Awful news - f*** cancer. Prayers to Jenks! -
How many of those are Sox sites? When it comes to the Sox - this place has more traffic than any of them - especially discussion. Twitter can have more isolated comments - but actual people trending together on views - this is it. Also in terms of actual baseball forums or reddits - it is a high volume board - but yes - slower than the past - given the broader dynamics - but also heavily due to the team. But overall - I wouldn't trade this for anything - its a true community....its also purely a hobby...not like we've ever operated it as a for profit or business. It really is a place for Sox fans from all over the world to be able to come on, vent, root together, etc aligned to a common goal.

The upcoming lockout is going to be brutal - I think it will be worse than 94.
-
They got this tank thing figured out. Come on top 3 pick (preferably Flagg).

I wonder if Wright can take a big step forward with more quality around him (or not). I don't know the answer but if Wright can become a top 5 RT than it works out okay. I also don't know what happens with Carter if he spent his first half of his rookie season on that team a year ago (in fairness). But Carter > Wright and a punter.
-
Yeah - I think this increases likelihood that Smith is harder to get. Not that in a free agent class that is devoid of high end talent it is ever easy to land your target anyway. But Smith seemed like one of those where Bears would say you know what - this is worth outbidding everyone on.
-
Was watching - Curry went off and Bulls completely fell apart. Nuts. Buzelis had good first half.
-
This is a very good post - it’s why I’m not taking an rb in round 1. I think in round 2 - that is earliest you can do it and round 3 is fair game. Now if Bears moved down 10-12 slots and picked up a few more picks - than maybe because you don’t have a Sewell type player on the board (unfortunately he probably isn’t in this draft anyway). Simmons is my go big or go home candidate at 10 - otherwise I’m in camp of go dline if you think blue chip is there or move down and try and grab a high end guard prospect and live with Braxton with goal of making interior strong.
-
Damn it. I wanted the Lakers to get Vooch. Hornets made a good deal and Lakers are betting on Williams being healthy (he’s young and ascending but hurt a ton) but I wanted Dalton from Lakers and was hoping Bulls might even get a 2nd round pick to boot.
-
2yrs 20M total - that is a deal I can get on board with. Seems like the type of move that if it backfires and his leg blows up, it doesn't break the cap, but if it works out and he has a good full season and trends the right way - he helps other players, but at the same time, he probably has real upside as a trade asset depending on where they are in the rebuild.
