Very true.
-
I agree - unless Mason Graham or a high upside player is there trade back - problem is it takes two to tango. Not a position of need, but back to got to hit doubles and triples in round 1 - is there a db worth taking early? If this was a year ago - I’d have taken Jared Verse (or Brock Bowers) but this draft isn’t as deep.
-
That is a good signing by the Bills. Good buy low on a guy with high upside still in Bosa.
-
I wonder if Jeanty is a smokescreen and they are trying to hope one of top OT or DEs make it there to 10.
-
But seeing where the free agent market was - I do give credit for the front office being aggressive on the trade front as well.
-
I will state this - I vowed not to let an off-season hook me and convince me again with the Bears (I need to see wins on the field and real production to start buying it) - but I got to give credit to Poles, Warren, and McCaskey. They have killed it - from landing Ben Johnson, to the staff (on paper) they brought in, and now the way they have upgraded the trenches and put money into the right places is huge. Now I just hope they found the right players - but they are in a position to really hit some doubles and triples in the draft and really position this club for sustained success - and really put Caleb in a position where he has the right nucleus around him to achieve his potential (now I hope he has it in him and is ready to put in RIDICULOUS effort across the board to get himself to the pinnacle and to keep pushing himself to stay at the top too!!!

They are paying for future upside and I think they are hopinlg Odeyingbo has more pass rush than Walker so can be splashier and a bit better against the run as well. Walker was flexible but in general meh at most everything. But his body type was similar and Odeyingbo may end up being the same, we shall see. But I like the combination of bodytypes and talent Bears now have - between Jarrett & Odeyingbo, plus Billings, Sweat, and Dexter (who in my mind is still ascending). If you add one more Day 1/Day 2 pick at a minimum and that should be a pretty good group - and one that has a pretty good balance of youth & veteran leadership. My guess is it would be a DE if they went early in the draft (vs. DT given they have Jarret, Dexter, Billings, and Odeyingbo (who can flex interior on passing downs), plus they have the other 3rd rounder whose name escapes me from 2 years ago who hasn't flashed yet.

I think with some restructures they can find a way for a few lower end signings - I'm thinking like 1Yr $5M wideout type of moves - not crazy money. They can probably structure a few other things if they needed to.
-
Welp - I am going to guess we'll see them eventually sign a wideout - but probably not for a few days or longer once the market has settled. Can't argue that they didn't spend and they invested money in the right positions (the lines). Hopefully they identified the right players.
-
This is a good move - ascending player with a lot of upside. Hopefully Allen dan get most out of him. Going to get paid for his upside vs past production which is always a risk….but love it. Tons of flexibility heading into draft.
-
I think given strength of this years draft you could go heavy dline, oline and an rb - than maybe sign a vet db and a vet wideout and te to short term deals in free agency. Keeps a ton of flexibility and gives you depth whose also allowing you to target youth in pockets with most talent in draft.
-
I agree with this entirely. There is also a lot of Oline, RB, and TE depth in this draft - which are other positions Bears should leverage, so I could see them going DE, OT, RB, DT, TE or some combination of that. This is where I'd be fine signing another TE instead -> than you can just focus on DE/OT/RB/DT/OG or something like that. I caveat - safety and LB are other positions if you see someone you like by all means (DB's too - can never have too many).
-
If this is where the market holds out - than I could see them still signing someone - but more 1Yr type of deal, or pivoting to add another wideout or TE on a short-term deal.
-
This - unless you really love a DE or LT sitting at 10 - I think you move down. Quite frankly I'd be intrigued with a trade down with the Bengals involving Hendrickson.
-
Finally - all the linemen....linemen, linemen, linemen!!!
-
HUGE - Fair deal too.
-
Sounds ilke Dalman to Bears - 3yr 42M
-
Godwin returning to Bucs (3yr 66M).
-
H. Reddick to the Bucs on 1yr deal.
-
Chiefs were first deal - signed a tackle to protect Mahomes - 2yr 33M or so.
-
He's a #3. Replaced Mercedes Lewis.
-
Is that a rumor? I suppose I could see it - presume it would be a short term deal.
-
I could also see the Bears signing a TE or something random like that.
-
I do think they will get Dalman - I am going to guess Chase Young to the Bears on a 2YR 25M deal. I do NOT think they draft a RB in Rd 1 - but expect they do in Rd 2 (maybe even move up slightly to take the 2nd RB off the board). Colts Dlinemen is the other guy to watch. I will notate - I could see them making a play for Hendrickson. Above is purely my wild ass prediction (Dalman/Young).
-
Completely agree - goes back to - when you are regularly drafting back 10 picks of the first round - you are going to entirely go to where the value on the draft board is. But look at the Ravens - staggering number of Wideouts drafted (they also had a lot more draft picks than the other teams - but 4 out of 13 if I counted correctly).
