That was what I assumed but I read somewhere where a former ref said that wasn’t actually the rule. I’m curious cause my initial thought was what a horrible challenge…now I’m curious is this one of those obscure things that never happens and there was a confusion?
-
So did they rule the first contact was to the jersey vs the ball?
-
They drafted a right tackle two years after passing on Jalen Carter for Wright. Poles is still the problem until we see some more consistent scouting hits. Turner was out with an injury I believe.
-
I will say as ticked as I am, this season was always tough and about building momentum - so now have to see how they respond. Not winning this is tough though cause they open up with a pretty brutal schedule if I remember.
-
Absolutely.
-
Other than the big trade with Panthers and getting Johnson as HC, a lot of Poles moves are still up for debate. I will say at least they invested a bit more in oline but it still looks like he could have a lot of scouting misses.
-
It will be interesting to see how team responds to this. Let this be a catapult to better times. I think it will be a rough week at Halas Hall and it is going to only get tougher with Lions looking to get their first win.

Would have been real nice to have that time out. No idea what they were thinking. Little things - failed 4th down in red zone, lots of penalties while driving, missed field goal, lousy special teams…it all adds up…
-
This was a huge story of the game. Special teams too and than Caleb still has a lot to clean up…but man the penalties were so costly.
-
This is well said. Regarding Caleb - I said it a couple months back - there are plenty of red flags on him just as there were on the coaching staff. He has to learn from what he did wrong and I legitimately think he bought into his hype too much and did not take it as serious as he should of and also had a bit of an entitled attitude and perspective and that played out and there were enough rumblings of that. He got his kicked last year - in many ways. Now I hated that he spent any time wasting it on the quotes that drove the Flus hit piece earlier in the offseason cause it still shows a total lack of maturity. With that said - I think the whole culture has changed and hopefully he had the rude awakening needed and is now all systems go with a staff that is going to really push and some added vet presence in the qb room to help. We won’t know in first 4 weeks - but as season goes on, the expectation has to be we are seeing some above average and at times high end play from that position.

White Sox @ Detroit; Smith vs Flaherty 5:40pm CST
Chisoxfn replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Tucker, Diaz, and a starting pitcher and this team looks a lot better. -
If I win the powerball I’ll raise a group to take over the Sox.
-
If he can get the contact rate up and stay healthy, at that point, he legit looks like a bonafide MVP type candidate. That said - until I see a more sustained contact rate I’ll continue to want to see this play out over a more extended sample size.
-
It seems pretty tough to me - partly because of the division we play but also due to some of the other divisions we are playing too.
-
3 rookies with 3 hits each - very nice!
-
Colson is north of 2 on baseball reference.

I'm curious if Robert had been dealing with something more recently and that is what drove them to shut him down - balancing act - but with season lost - do you risk him playing through something or rush back but see his production dip - or do you risk the fact that its another season he is down? No good answer.
-
I think the question really is - how much cash do they potentially need to pick up if they move him in the off-season vs. rolling the dice. For example - if they picked up his option but than traded him along with $10M -> at that point -> do the Sox get something decent, maybe a draft pick, international bonus and a former Top 100 prospect or something like that? Or do they wait and take there chances and see if he can start off hot and move him? Would they even be able to get what I'm proposing with Robert on a 1yr 10M deal (to another team) knowing that team has options -> but also it gives them a lot of flexibility given the pending lockout.

Idiots instead gave it to Kimbrel. Was so stupid - said it than and will continue to say it now.
-
Lip really good stories - enjoyable quotes. I’m too young to know who he was - but RIP.

Why are they announcing player for month of July at the end of August? More curious - awesome to see.

His defense has been outstanding and since the break he just looks different at the plate. Still work to do but he has looked like a totally different player the past 8 weeks!

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
Chisoxfn replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think on one hand - one could say regarding Kopech the Sox developmental team was aware of the issues - so give credit there. The inverse of that is - the message wasn't being received by the player - so is that the player or is that how the message was being delivered and structure. Now in fairness - I think there is a balancing act of both - because what works for one player may not work for another and vice versa - development is very individualized. And some players just don't listen - given Kopech's past - wouldn't shock me if that is where he was. Regarding Vaughn - could be a bit of that - rock bottom scenario of going to minors and than clean start that just put him in a spot where it took all of that to drive a fresh look and change. Now one question I truly have is - was the jolt to the minors the biggest indicator in which case - would the Sox being a bit more patient and taking that hard / aggressive approach - actually have worked and they could have brought Vaughn up later on this year and see the same results. I think there might be some truth to the fact that the Sox traded Vaughn too early and they should have seen if their tough love approach could have worked - knowing at least with Vaughn they had the ability to keep him around next year had he made this sort of jump where as with Civale he's walking. -
How can you not love Buehrle.

Sean Burke optioned to AAA; Owen White called up
Chisoxfn replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Burke is interesting because I could see him being a pretty good high leverage reliever - he has very good stuff. No idea if given his injury history that doesn't work and I certainly am not saying they should move him to the pen - he's a solid starter - but if they ended up with real starting depth - I could see him being very successful out of the pen.
