I agree. Jonah Jackson was kind of made you go "hmmm" when it was made in isolation. But you realize fit and then a bit more of the back story on why he struggled with Rams and than bam, it worked out pretty well. Hoping there is some of that here too.

I do realize it is a '26 5th rounder - still don't like it - but talking about a 6th round value today. So maybe it at very least gives them enough comfort to ensure they can be flexible when everything goes bonkers starting on Monday.

I don't love it - but maybe Bears think Newman is that guy so they want a floor person to bridge with Newman to try this? Not going to lie - not in love with this at first glance. Don't like trading 5th rounders for guys like this - feels like you could have found someone just like him in free agency. With that said - maybe I'm underrating him. Also - why are Pats trading their starting center.

I think I am all in on the - make the interior oline great strategy. Combine that with Wright and that gives the Bears a ton of options and quite frankly should allow them to downplay the LT spot knowing how this staff can scheme the rest (let Theo / Kiran / Braxton / other cheap option be there - see what Trapillo brings).

One other nice thing about this strategy - there should be a lot of cap space plus all of our draft ammo the following year to assess whether there are any spots where you want to take a big swing.

I think that is where Decker is a pretty good potential fit. 1-2 year deal (maybe it is a 2 year deal that enables you to spread the cap and if they retire in a year so be it). Good bridge solution and combine it with one of the FA centers. That gives you a lot of flexibility for how you attack the draft while ensuring you should have a strong line. Call it the Ace scenario - I'd than assess whether I could do something else on the defense - but would be pretty content after that really targeting the defense heavy in the draft and in the 2nd wave of free agency.

Trent Williams is a name that intrigues me. Bridge candidate while they can solve other needs and probably doesn't tie-up long term flexibility. I go back to - I think Bears have to be smart - they don't need to go all in now and lose focus for the foundational they need to still build. They got the bulk of the foundation dialed in on offense - but there is work to do and longer term structuring to get right - but defensively - they barely have a blue print. It is why if the cost is multiple top-end draft picks, Crosby at 29 makes zero sense. He helps you now - but sets you back 2-3 years from now and I don't think the jump you get today does what we think it can - given the significant amount of holes that exist on the defensive side of the house. If Crosby was 25/26 - I'd have a different opinion cause I'd see how that move set a strong foundation that this team could build on over the next few years.

Fingers crossed - today is the day so I hope we get good news on that front.

I’m guessing they end up with the Bills center.

I wouldn’t trade Kmet. I think having him and Loveland is a multiplying effect and makes things difficult on defenses and helps Caleb and ground game a ton.

I’ve been pleasantly pleased so far. I feel like Poles has made a few necessary moves which I didn’t know how much he would try to keep the crew together vs look to move guys and continue to shake things up.

I agree with this. I would be ok with Hendrickson cause it is cap space - but no more than 2 years (and what would be more like a 1+1 type of deal). Quite frankly if I could deal JJ I would too. It will take some time but keep pouring draft picks into the team - this time more on defense. Note: If there was a market for Swift I’d trade him and get 2 years younger with a few of the current crop of FA backs.

Bummed they couldn't get a pick for Edmunds. Contract was big.

Zaccheus is a FA. But they clearly were fans of Jahdae Walker too.

Very worried when there are now reports Raiders have a few teams offering 2 FRP for Crosby. That terrifies me. I would do our '26 and JJ or something like a FRP this year and a 2RP next year. If it is 2 FRP - at least be dumping Dayo's contract in it.

What is this related to? Unrelated - If it is a low cost vet move, fine, but I'm not supportive of using $10M on Cam Jordan. Not a good use of funds in my mind.

I will absolutely miss DJ Moore a ton - dude played hard every game and battled through it. Also glad he is ending up in a good spot. Getting a late 2nd rounder is a nice thing (I think I saw where we also got a pick next year but maybe that was wrong). I expect Edmunds for a 5th (Giants is my guess) and than hopefully we get the Cunningham 3rd's (26 and '27).

I'll also say - if Bears could flip Swift for anything like Lions got for Montgomery, I would be fine with that and than basically see if you can go after Kenneth Walker or one of the other FA backs. Than again, I have no idea how Montgomery went for what he did.

This is where my head is at. Might even be able to make Hendrickson and a free agent center deal work.

This stinks - but this also might mean some different cap flexibility in place - if they are more confident given Thuney, Jonah, and Wright, so then your ability at center or even drafting a younger player (or trading for one in a more cap friendly manner) frees up some added flexibility for other moves. But man - talk about a shocker. I wonder if they had any indication at all or if this kind of puts the Bears in a tougher spot (better now than a week from now).

I really like Fleming. This class looks quite good.

And I am ok with that. After 4 years of heading the wrong direction they are finally doing what is needed and losing. Please let the lottery balls work in there favor. Better yet clean house and bring in a new front office. Going to be brutal for a few years but about damn time they decided to suck so they can hopefully get some stars. Get a top pick this year, get another topic pick next year, get the Portland pick this year (or next year) let them develop with Matas and Giddey (or flip giddey for more assets) plus massive cap space and all picks…things could look much better a year or two from now.

I'm all for blaming the Bears - but in my mind, at least based upon what is out there, the Bears ownership is taking a pretty fair and balanced approach with IL...so this is more on the state and local areas in my mind. Asking for tax certainty and infastructure seems like a fair play knowing what the Bears plan on putting into the stadium.
