I guess question is do they think he goes this week or is it a bit longer. No comment makes me worry there was a set back or he is still at least a week away…in which point…best case he rehabs and is back for first game after the all star break.

Is that you implying it is so strange as if they are keeping it quiet? Feels like one thing has been achieved, 2 months ago we didn’t think Sox would have leverage at 1 to get a material under slot deal (it was always going to be at least a bit under)…but now they just might. How good of a prospect is Flora? I’ve just been focused on the bats cause it feels like with Roch, Lackey and Emerson they all have that hit tool.

Feels like either a rehab assignment or an activation are coming soon. Hoping silence is good news vs. there was any form of a set back.

I expect them to be bad - hope is this keeps us out of the relegation. If they surprise, great, than you have flexibility with these deals to have capacity to throw in chips at the deadline (or in the off-season). If it takes a bit longer, you pull the options on these deals and you basically do another year of stacking assets and have max cap space and flexibility in 2 years (the only wrinkle is that awful Patrick Williams contract). But this year is basically development and stacking more assets, assess than next off-season if you want to start moving chips in..then great, if not, do it again and they have lots of flexibility in how they do it and get another year. Note: If they are sitting in 7 spot (like in terms of worse teams) or something and Powell is playing good - he should be very flippable for an asset and you can do it knowing you should be out of the relegation zone.

I know everyone is saying Warriors - but I'm going to throw out Cleveland and Heat as well.

I think the club should do a bit of both - get him starter innings in July and maybe even into August and than look at where he is inning's wise and use him in the pen potentially to control things. Feels like that was always the plan - cause there are innings limits - but him getting shut down for part of the year certainly slowed it down.

Very fair - I'll accept him back right after the all star break and you are probably right in terms of ramp up. Part of me liked if he could get back, than you let him rest a bit, so it kind of gives a good in between. Feels like he is trending to being back soon - you can also ease him in at DH for a bit too.

I would hope McDougal, Thorpe, and Shane Smith are all making rehab starts and appearances in the next 5-10 days with Hagen Smith hopefully following by mid July. Regarding Munetaki, I am hoping he is playing his first rehab game this month and we are talking about him back in the lineup by 4th of July.

It is such bad data and very lagging data too. The way this is conducted it is going to give a heavy lean towards historical views and bias. That doesn't make those views wrong - but none of that is a leading indicator of what is shifting (or not). This is very different than the NFL PA view that is done across a deep sub-set of the players and very much has a quality sample size. Anyone who understands statistical analysis has to understand the importance of the data set and thus what conclusion(s) can or can't be made off of said data set.

JR hasn't spent or invested in the minors and the other stuff - they have always cut corners there. The impression has been that Getz has clearly not spent on the roster, but he has made more investments in the infrastructure. Whether that puts them on par or not, probably not - you can't just throw money at something that was ignored while rest of the baseball world advanced...but you can still make progress and that progress takes time. I'm just not going to be lazy and say ha we still suck...nor am I saying the opposite. And I do think they are still a far way away from being some world class organization - but is momentum at least moving them forward (after years of heading in the wrong direction).

Do you know who said what - for all you know this is mainly former players who are sticking to the same themes of the past. When were the question9s) asked, etc. And proof is in the pudding - I don't think anyone is going to rave given where they were for the past few years...takes seeing production for the voice to change. Those are facts - barring some wholesale change in owner(s) which might drive a more rapid / clearer view of difference. I have seen more positive player vibes this year than the past 5 years combined - so that seems to be coming off. Whether that is in-spite of everything else or not, I don't know, but quite a few players including vets have talked about how unique this club is and team is to the positive (again - that could be in spite)...but there is some early data implying that there could be some real progress (could also be nothing). But the video room comment - is that still true or is that a quote that is based upon how it was 3 years ago (a reporter close to team should be able to figure that out).

I think where I am - let him play and trade him at the deadline. Put him in positions to be a stat stuff, you also get the new front office and staff to work with him, than make a decision and I don't think his value should be very different. And there is value to me in having a credible distributor / point guard around to help allow you to assess and ensure development for Matas, Essengue, Swain, Wilson, etc.

What I wonder is how much this trend may or may not have changed? I'm not surprised but is it actually different (but this feedback is based upon long-term views and biases which have yet to shift or merge at this level) or is it really still the same. I won't pretend to know but I could see these being a lagging indicator relative to what we are seeing on the field which seems to be indicative of some true changes from a development perspective.

I think he is a stat stuff and maybe a good player to have for next 1-2 years to help develop the other pieces, but long-term I think there are some major flaws to his game. In fairness - if they have the athletes around him, I think you can absolutely win with him as he is such a productive offensive player. Question is can we get value for him - right now I am guessing with him having some of those injuries his value isn't as high as it should be or could be given his age and contract. I think he will help elevate the floor of our younger players and we got to manage to not be in the bottom 2 either.

Evidently Presti and OKC were going to take Swain so Bulls got him right before they grabbed him. Ace and Q had him on their list. Good past 24 hours for Bulls from Claxton to our two first rounders. Lot of work to do but a nice start for the new regime.

I was thinking about the legend today when we won. Could picture the bombs he would drop celebrating an ole fashion victory over Cleveland!

Walked home to see my son had the game on…started cooking the tacos and guacamole and was making the spicy margarita just in time for Miggys homer!
