After Moreno is a spending version of Jerry. He probably is the worse owner in sports. He is willing to write the checks but he wants to win so bad all the time he forced his gms to make the dumbest moves. I actually put him worse than Jerry - which is crazy to even think cause Jerry is awful. Moreno cares 10x more but can’t get out of his own shadow.

Brooks is a hitter - I think he’s going to have a pretty long career. Didn’t say he’s going to be some great player - but he is going to have a long and productive big league career.

Dang it - I was a good Brooks Baldwin play away from seeing my 3rd in person no hitter!

Do they have an option on Perez next year?

I think the key is - they are much better than last year and trending in much better direction - but they still have a long way to go and have a lot more work to do to show the development and drafting era is going to create a sustained pipeline of talent that can move this team from epically bad (last year) to really bad but improving (this year) to something that resembles mediocre and ascending.

Sorry just seeing this. We are going to go to the game tomorrow - but easiest stadium to get in an out of and hopefully you got to enjoy the fireworks show from the Sox bats and the Friday night fireworks after. A few breweries right in area - the breury is real good but also a golden road and a few other places right there too.

I really don't understand why MLB has a lottery. Tanking is just not a thing. It really isn't. Don't get me wrong - there is an advantage to having the #1 vs. #5 pick - but the reality is - the MLB draft is so much different than football and/or basketball where the impact being all the way at the top in the right draft just isn't the same as it is in other sports - especially the NBA.

Konerko was that way and had to mature early in his career to not let at bats carry over in a negative fashion.

As much as I might complain about the process of getting Getz…I do think fundamentally he’s done some good things for the organization in terms of advancing it.

Perfectly good with this. Really hoping Robert figured something out post break and we see him keep it up. If he does - we should get some real value in the offseason. Just imagine he finishes 2H of the year hitting like .275 with an .800 OPS plus his defense. Sox pick up option and are willing to send cash - they will be able to get something better than what was offered today (presuming nothing very good came there way). Now he could suck rest of the year and play himself out of the option but I’m going to hope Sox have seen something inside lockeroom that supports making the choice they are. I also think playing hard ball if a difference making type of prospect wasn’t there is worth it. Will help in the future.

That seems like a really low return unless the prospect rankings are way off and those guys all made major moves up the list.

Exactly - even at 20 (or you negotiate with him a slightly lower deal while you have leverage) but his tools are still loud. Heck even if he finishes strong you could pick up option and deal him in offseason.

Honestly - I don’t have any problem with that approach.

He still has stuff to work through - I'm fine letting him hit where he is right now.

Im in the - not counting anything until I see real sustained in season success. With that said - man my first impression of Ben Johnson is legit. I’ll also say I’m hoping Caleb responds to the challenge he’s getting - can tell Caleb didn’t have same expectations set on him last year or in college. Ben expects a lot more and it will be interesting to see if Caleb is willing to do what it takes or if he is content as he already has made a lot of money.

Reminds me a bit defensively of Rafael Furcal - maybe it’s the arm or something.
