  1. This is well said and I agree - I also presume their front office didn't see Adams as being a ML guy as a starter and probably knew they had to move him now given the upcoming roster crunch issues.
  2. I'm guessing one of our other OFers goes for a catcher.
  3. I prefer Pereira - think he's going to be a solid big leaguer...is this also creating room for Hays?
  4. Really hope it ends up being minor
  5. Am I making this up or did a see a tweet saying something about Juan Soto and White Sox being interested in him. Had to be make believe but thought it was from Heyman or Bowden
  6. Boys….we about to get Ohtani!
  7. Haha seriously - it would probably be cheaper to buy airfare and hotel and go to a game in Chicago haha
  8. Why - after the Sox win the World Series this year, Skubal is going to join them as a free agent as the Sox win another world series as they go on one of the greatest runs in baseball history!
  9. This - I want to be at one of those World Series games too!!!
  10. It kind of does though - a team that has been able to spend so much on free agency has allowed them (along with great drafting and player development) to be able to build a surplus of prospects that it can easily afford to deal where as other teams that can’t go to that free agent well as much just can’t afford to necessarily give up the same draft capital without having to worry about the long range consequences. Credit to Dodgers for how they have done this though. Extremely well ran.
  11. Is this the biggest annual salary Sox will have ever paid (ie the 25M next year) for a player in franchise history?
  12. I disagree but maybe I give everyone too much credit. You don’t give up top 30 Position prospect for number 3 starters.
  13. Maybe if that is the case…piggy back him with Schultz
  14. Owners have to absolutely love this - gives them more ammo in their fight against the union. My 11 year old son walks in and just had a meltdown…mlb is rigged…this isn’t fair.
  15. Just curious - what would the equivalent package have been from the White Sox?
  16. I’ll be honest…I’d have been way more mad if we dealt Bonemer or Carlson for Detmers for this deal.
  17. Wow - dominoes are starting to fall. I think there is going to be a ton of action with so many teams in the race.
  18. I will stick to the White Sox took on payroll in lieu of giving up a big prospect. That is still a plus vs old white Sox. I’d be more pissed if they dealt Carlson for Detmers. I do think we may see them go get Mason Miller. I still think that is the splash move Getz makes… I do think they will acquire Adley to play catcher as long as his injury isn’t serious.
  19. I appreciate this post - was looking for someone to have a positive take on this and was nice to at least see some of these thoughts. I was just looking at his pure numbers and struggling.
  20. Anyone got info on his advanced metrics and stuff. Very curious if there is something Sox think they can do to unlock / get him back to what he was…I know his FIP is better than his era but it still isn’t good.
  21. This deal didn’t need Boston Smith quite frankly.
  22. I like seeing the club be willing to take on payroll but this seems like a very strange trade for Sox and by strange it seems stupid. That contract is flat out but bad unless we think there is a minor adjustment needed and his stuff is still well above average. In fairness it is one bad season but he is also on older side.
  23. Is this confirmed - he's going to Tampa or you are just speculating.
  24. Maybe building on this, but if he came over and pitched like he has the past few years down the stretch for the Sox, you could go down the route of a qualifying offer to either retain him or get back a pick (so regain some of that capital). Obviously plenty of scenarios where he isn't worth that qualifying offer - but if was becoming a free agent a year ago, I think he would have gotten that offer.
  25. I definitely think there is likely major risk and he may be more of an eventual AAAA player. I won't pretend to know his dynamics around the tools they see in terms of swing speed, etc.
