What are the rules around post-season eligibility for September 1 waiver pickups?

I'd love Robert for the stretch run against LHP's.

He is awesome. As hard as this final 5 weeks of regular season are going to be and they may not go as we hope - I really have had a ton of fun this season and enjoy this team a lot!

I hope Buxton is ok - hate injuries.

I still think they make the playoffs - but I can see the toll this recent stretch has had on them. Still - they basically had a .500 week last week and they had the lead in every Cubs game late (only one 1)...so reality is they treaded water but could have easily had a few more wins (in fairness every game was tight so they could have had a few more L's). Yesterday was almost an off game given we didn't waste any of the premier arms...but they really could use a hot week or so with the bats and arms...would do wonders right now to find ways to get some guys rest(s) etc. Lets start a new winning streak today!

Adam Dunn as a plus defensive shortstop is a hall of famer - just to be clear - and this is coming from someone who was not a big Adam Dunn fan. For past 1-2 months though, he has been White Sox Adam Dunn vs. Reds version. We need the Reds version at the plate. I think the tool(s) and talent are there, but he's a streaky guy who when he gets into a funk he gets into it bad. I think in time he'll figure out how to better stay out of those issues - but unfortunately he isn't there yet.

Hawk was / is the best. My all time favorite announcer of any squad - followed closely 2nd by Stacey King / Johnny Red. Still can't believe we won't get to hear King call games anymore.

I think they need to be smart here - he hasn’t played in a while - don’t rush him up before rosters expand. I’d have him finish out and do a good extended rehab down there - two weeks - help him get timing back etc.

In good with the approach - we burned our chips against Tigers - right thing to do - but we got Newcomb up…why bother. Worse case see what happens and if you get the runs in top inning than you rush Newcomb up at that point and just go Richard’s for lead off guy and then flip for the lefties. But they need to just let some minor league guys get shellacked and get the pen some rest or something here. Got to find a way to get the pen fresh.

Let them compete and I’d still add a free agent high end talent - such as the Japanese free agent center fielder. Dont be complacent - iron sharpens iron. I like the way you are thinking - Skubal to a 5yr deal and then trade for Skenes (who will bounce back big time next year). In all seriousness, I think you are right and we will see some offseason moves including a splash move. JR won’t be on back end of these deals and I expect the duration post CBA will make out at 5 (or 6 if it is an internal resign). Both of those, combined with JR having one last hurrah - have me thinking big these next few seasons (and why not start it this season with a postseason 💦)
