7/13 Games
My impression was this might be one of the last times you can really go the high school route anyway and that was part of why the Sox made the deal they did - this kind of allows them to dip into that pool now when reality is they were one of the few teams with capacity to do so and then we'll all be in this new potentially shallower pool in the future...but at least we should see a wave in a few years where we may have a bit more concentration (college players from upcoming drafts establishing themselves while we also have hopefully some wins from our base of high school(ers) as well. All of it depends on the ability to hit and develop those picks obviously.

Official NBA 25-26 Thread
While I admit I like a lot about what I've seen from Wilson in SL - really the main thing I like is fact that his 3 ball looks improved in terms of form. The stats are whatever. With Essengue, I think my view is, he's out on the court playing - and quite frankly he hasn't done it in a long time - so I can't really look any more into it than that. The downside of his injury was, he was really really raw to begin with, and then him losing basically a year last year only makes that journey harder and the type of injury he had - also prevented him from really doing what you'd have liked in terms of working on his NBA body (at least from an upper body perspective). So really this might as well be his rookie year (or even a bit less than his rookie year due to the rust). The article Kyyle linked above was good - didn't say anything we didn't think about when it came to the past regime. I'd also caveat what we hear now, but I'll at least take some early signs of progress. But anything would basically be a step up.

7/13 Games
I think people are sleeping on Carlson. His defensive upside is elite and he’s got a ton of other explosive tools. He’s got to continue to put strength on / you forget how young he is / preps are but I think it would be a massive mistake to trade him now…maybe in future but his value will be much higher in future in my mind.

Tristan Peters, Mune are All-Stars
This is how I feel - my son is so fired up that Muni is in the derby...I kept trying to say I'm totally good without him being there and my son can't grasp it...so at this point, I'm not over thinking it...just going to enjoy seeing him be him and that he's a total pro and he'll figure the rest out anyway.

7/13, Athletics @ Sox, 3:10 AM Japan Standard Time
I know that - but over June and July he has been a very productive player. Vargas sucked for his first 60 plus games with the Sox before turning a corner and then a bigger corner. Maybe last 15-20 games is a fluke, but he has been a very productive bench player for the past 45 days.

Acuna is not like the other two. Basically he’s been pretty darn good the past 6 weeks. Clearly earned a spot on the roster. Acuna is hitting over .400 with .950+ ops in June and July (basically his last 50 at bats).

Official 2026 MLB Draft Thread - Picks & Discussion
It feels like every pick you can see what they are trying to do and how it fits with their development strategy. Doesn’t mean they’ll all pan out but you can see how much tighter their process is. You also just see them take far more big swings.

I will caveat I thought 6 was another spot to do it - don’t think they did per se - but I like what they did. Grabbed a guy who clearly aligns to the dev philosophy. I do hope we see the pitching philosophy start to pan out though.

Official 2026 MLB Draft Thread - Picks & Discussion
Usually if you are going to flex - those first two picks after 10th are good places to do it - a bit more efficient than in 5-10 range…but you got to know you have pushed the guy or guys down there….then see where else you have left over for those next picks and if you have risk take a guy late in case you need to pivot to a plan B splurge.

In past I wouldn’t like that, but given what we have seen from Sox position development past few years I love way they are tackling this. I do expect 2 big grabs once we get past 10th round.

I truly think tomorrow they have a shot at turning this into what we will look back on as one of the more special drafts in franchise history!

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
Who knows how we will leverage the pick, but I like the fact that for once our org is actually being progressive and valuing these sorts of selections. Past regimes only focused on the here and now and this move shows a long view. It isn’t a no brainer move by any means - gonzo is going to be a solid big leaguer, who happened to be stuck in a roster jam. If Sox move him down and keep going back and forth he could easily end up seeing his value go down so at least if they moved they are moving at a high (he couldn’t really make his value any better with Sox given limited opps he’d get while rest of roster is healthy). I’m curious if there is anything they see in this lefty and whether we can see them turn him into something. Stuff seems to play but boy he hasn’t produced down in minors. But I love having a chance at continuing to build and lean in with a pool now in excess of 20M. Gonzo will play so good move for Pirates too. Solid cost controlled player who can play around the field.

Mune is incredible. I’d like to see us announce a 5yr 150M+ extension for him over the all star break weekend.

I think Frazier had a big year his first year - felt like he may have had 40 plus?

It feels like all of the smoke was more to generate leverage on Roch's bonus payout. Could be wrong - but that is my gut.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Hands down yes. Any of the 3 in there immediately become our top prospect. Schultz would have been close had we not seen his control issues / knee issues pop back (which are clearly related). With everyone else graduating and Hagen falling down too, Bonenmer doesn't quite get there and BMont is strong but maybe not quite there (or maybe he has also graduated, not sure).

After the recent play, is the smart move to sell instead of buy?
Now if we moved someone like Hicks or Gonzalez of even traded a Meidroth for a different need I am fine as long as it wasn’t a short sighted move.

I’m staying put but would he fine with long term buys for just good value moves or even swapping players for fits. Im patient and now isn’t time to panic or aggressively buy.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
I think fatigue. They should sit him until after the all star break. I had been proposing keeping Sandlin and going with a 6th starter - seems they need to do something right now. All star break will be coming at a good time. Mune also coming back at a good time!

7/7 Games
I think he is starting against Oakland it all goes well.

I am fine with any of the choices - including a surprise Flora selection at max discount.
