  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) It's amazing how consistently bad him and Contreras are right now. Count is on a level all by himself. Freddy's been bad, but Jose has been awful as of late.
  2. Wow, its already one of my favorite spring training facilities (aside from the drive since I stay in the Mesa area during ST). I'm hoping I'll be able to see it again this year, the only question is how bad busy season will be.
  3. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) • Monday: White Sox (RHP Jon Garland, 16-4, 4.47) at Red Sox (RHP Julian Tavarez, 2-4, 4.90), 6:05 p.m. CT • Tuesday: White Sox (RHP Javier Vazquez, 11-8, 4.98) at Red Sox (LHP Kason Gabbard, 0-3, 6.35), 6:05 p.m. CT • Wednesday: White Sox (RHP Jose Contreras, 11-7, 4.23) at Red Sox (RHP Kyle Snyder, 4-3, 5.94), 6:05 p.m. CT Wow. Great pitching for Boston. And just watch us get swept. Boston is in some bad shape, but the Sox just split 6 games between the Royals and Drays. We aren't exactly a world beater nor do I consider us a very good team. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) He used to pitch for Kansas City, but no I don't recall him ever being in our system. I think he's thinking of Jon Snyder who we dealt to the Brewers along with Navvaro in the Jose Valentin deal.
  4. Man thats such a huge loss for Louisville. Michael Bush is done for the season breaking a bone in his leg.
  5. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Did we get him or not? I cant comprehend this situAtion righr now? Yes or no.... Unless his buddy was the only one to know it, NO.
  6. Damn it, I got all excited for a second.
  7. Nah, usually really late in the minor league season you get guys really thrown around playing in leagues they shoudln't be. The reason for this is teams usually transfer guys around to make sure the playoff teams have the weapons they need to do good (because while it may not matter to a White Sox fan whether our minor league teams win or lose, it does matter to Warthog fans or Knight fans and those affiliates care if we take away all there players and don't somehow try to help them out in some way shape or form when we can).
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Anyone ever had a Wattaburger? YUM! Are there any in Cali.? Not that I know of. I've seen commercials for them but I'm 99% sure those were commercials that I saw via the MLB package (so it was an out of area broadcast). I'll say this, there are some good places to eat in Palm Desert but i'm not sure about if there are any unique fast food places there. I know there's a Farmer Boy there and supposedly they are supposed to have very good fast food hamburgers.

    Trekkie ~~ or Not

I've watched the movies cause they were about the only movies my dad ever wanted to actually go see in the theatre. Never watched the TV show though.
  10. Iowa is making some noise on the basketball end. Jake Kelly is in Iowa City this weekend and he still plans on making a visit or two but those close to him said it woudl be a shocker if he didn't come to Iowa to join his AAU teammate and anotehr Iowa commit Dairese Gary. If Kelly does committ to Iowa, he would join Gary and Jarryd Cole on what looks to be a solid 07 class. Sources close to Iowa say that if Alford gets Kelly he will turn his attention to Jon Leuer who will be visiting Iowa City the weekend of the OSU football game. Leuer is rated 72nd overall by Rivals in terms of the 07 class. The best part is our 08 class is looking outstanding as we already have verbals from Beas Hamga (34th best player by Rivals) and Matt Gatens (89th best player by Rivals). They are both in Iowa City this weekend along with Emmanuel Negedu (25th best player) who is supposed to be a very athletic wing man and right now Iowa tops his list and some say some sort of commit isn't out of the question this weekend. D'Andre Wiggins is also going to there as well (84th best player) but Iowa doesn't appear to be the favorite for him. The final recruit of 08 that they are making a push for is Lewis Jackson, a 5-9 PG who is ranked 94th. His visit is an unofficial one and he's expected back for the Ohio STate football game (Iowa tops his list). All in all Alford has really put together some really fine looking recruiting classes. Our upcoming class for this season was really looking like a top notch bunch but Alford ran into some trouble as a few players ended up being ineligible but its still a very solid class. Just wanted to point this out cause I rarely see any Iowa updates in here
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Was Schlicher a senior last year? Who the hell is kicking for Iowa? I hope Tate stays cool for another couple of games. I also hope we figure out how to friggin cover a tight end, casue Iowa has 3 good ones. s***, I need to worry about UNLV. How'd Christensen look? I'm intrigued by him. Schlicher is back for his senior season (missed today's game with a tweaked quad, it was precautionary and had we been playing a tougher program he probably would have played). Signore was the kicker today and from what I have heard he has a very strong leg and was really clobbering the ball on kickoffs. Unfortunately I didn't have the game, but Christensen is our future and will obviously have a lot of pressure on him next year. He was a top 100 recruit in 05 and Rivals had him as a 4 star. It appears Christensen will get some snaps this year as they try to get him ready for 07. He redshirted last year. Also our star DE and starting WR had been suspended for today's game (Iwebema and Grigsby)
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) Iowa finally seems to be pulling away. Which is nice to see. Tate hasn't exactly been super sharp or it doesn't appear that he has been at least (looking at the stats). Texas is beating up on Northern Texas.
  13. Why the hell does Hamtpon/Grambling get televised. I wonder this type of crap every time I see those type of games on TV, especially ESPN 2. Michigan has been a few drops from having a big lead, instead they are up 6.
  14. Talk about dissapointing. Not as much as the past squad though cause they were just lazy. I still don't get how this team lost. I watched Greece play earlier in this tourney against Turkey and it was one of the ugliest basketball games I've ever seen. My high school team would have whooped there asses or at least had a chance (I should make things a little more clear by saying that at times my high school team was one of the tops in the state when I was there and the year before they got there they won state IIRC).
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Jas if he is hurt, what is the point of having a hurt pitcher throw more pitches. You know what happens when a pitcher gets hurt outside of his arm. They f*** up their mechanics, and then compensate to make the pain go away, like Jose's sidearm. And what usually is the outcome of a pitcher going out of their mechanics. Surgery for their shoulder or elbow. He can go 5 innings. It just how many touchdowns do you want your offense to come back from. I don't buy into the theory that he's hurt though. I just made a post better explaining myself on that.
  16. I just want to say one thing for all of you saying Jose is still hurt. If he is hurt and the Sox are not putting him on the DL they are obviously one of the most ignorant, dumbass organizations in all of baseball. Why would we be sitting out there throwing out a piece of s*** pitcher (which is almost what Jose is right now) if we knew his struggles were do to an injury. Wouldn't we have thrown him on the DL weeks ago and given McCarthy a chance knowing that we could in time get Jose healthy and have him ready for the stretch run. I'm sorry, this injury claim really makes no sense cause I can't think (and I think Ozzie's a f***ing idiot) that Kenny would be dumb enough to do something like that.
  17. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) So why is he out there when we have +2 arms in the bullpen now? How can anyone defend ozzie's decisions? I'm hoping there's a mutiny in the dugout soon Really wahts it matter. Its not like he's throwing a gazillion pitches. We are gonna lose either way, so who cares. Jose had yet another worthless start too.
  18. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) This is the same KC team that just took 2 of 3 in the Dome, so they have been playing better...GONE!!!!!!!! See start talking up the Royals and here comes the Offense LOL The Royals have a top notch offense but we also need to realize Jose Contreras is not the god some posters seem to think he is. The guy has been nothing but mediocre since being placed on the DL and I'd make a case that he's been even worse than mediocre. Our rotation sucks, its pretty simple and easy to see. Of course our defense definately didn't help him out, but Jose did get hit hard too that inning.
  19. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) I'm surprised to see Sweeney called up. I've now interviewed another big leaguer, mwha! Too bad I'm off to Germany in two days so I'll miss most of the games in September. I'm shocked because you nkow the Knights will be really pissed, especially if these guys aren't playing early on and they really get there asses handed to them in the minor league playoffs. I realize a bunch of you are going to tell me who cares, the major league playoffs are more important and yes they are, but we are really s***ting on our farm team right now that we are affiliated with and it isn't a good practice to do that because we may get totally screwed and have our AAA team on the West Coast if we tick the Knights off enough. That said, I'm excited to see Stewart and Sweeney play. Oh and I used to think there clocks started, but I swear September callups are not considered part of a 25 man roster and with that they have yet to start there clocks so this doesn't mean they are eligible for FA any sooner.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Do people really ask before they use a service and walk away from that service if the person providing it states they are a Cub fan? Or a Gb fan if you are a Bears fan? Or a Redwings fan if you are a Hawks fan...?? I would hope not, but I guess we just aren't true fans Steff
  21. QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) The Yankees guys are actually pretty good and unbiased, it's hilarious that ESPN was more pro-yankees than the YES Network. So I would assume he merely does it to look even more unbiased. Ya, they have by far one of the best booths, if not the best, in all of baseball.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) When are the Knights playoffs over? Well, I guess I should ask when they start, not when they finish.... They ended the second they made these callups. I would have to think the Knights are extremely pissed off at the Sox.
  23. QUOTE(shipps @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) The Mars Volta, death cab 4 cutie, and minus the bear. prob my top three. 3 of my personal fav's. Good call. That said Mars Volta's latest album, not a big fan of.
  24. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) Probably a strain or just your muscles were trying to adjust to the hard workout. It sounds like you just really upd your weight or your reps and that is why you are feeling more soreness than usual. Of course Its hard for me to say that for sure cause I think its something that depends on the person. Some people recover better than others and obviously if you haven't lifted in a bit it would probably be the reason your a little extra sore but if you've been lifting consistently and just slowly upping things I wouldn't expect any unordinary soreness.
