  1. Talk about dissapointing. Not as much as the past squad though cause they were just lazy. I still don't get how this team lost. I watched Greece play earlier in this tourney against Turkey and it was one of the ugliest basketball games I've ever seen. My high school team would have whooped there asses or at least had a chance (I should make things a little more clear by saying that at times my high school team was one of the tops in the state when I was there and the year before they got there they won state IIRC).
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Jas if he is hurt, what is the point of having a hurt pitcher throw more pitches. You know what happens when a pitcher gets hurt outside of his arm. They f*** up their mechanics, and then compensate to make the pain go away, like Jose's sidearm. And what usually is the outcome of a pitcher going out of their mechanics. Surgery for their shoulder or elbow. He can go 5 innings. It just how many touchdowns do you want your offense to come back from. I don't buy into the theory that he's hurt though. I just made a post better explaining myself on that.
  3. I just want to say one thing for all of you saying Jose is still hurt. If he is hurt and the Sox are not putting him on the DL they are obviously one of the most ignorant, dumbass organizations in all of baseball. Why would we be sitting out there throwing out a piece of s*** pitcher (which is almost what Jose is right now) if we knew his struggles were do to an injury. Wouldn't we have thrown him on the DL weeks ago and given McCarthy a chance knowing that we could in time get Jose healthy and have him ready for the stretch run. I'm sorry, this injury claim really makes no sense cause I can't think (and I think Ozzie's a f***ing idiot) that Kenny would be dumb enough to do something like that.
  4. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) So why is he out there when we have +2 arms in the bullpen now? How can anyone defend ozzie's decisions? I'm hoping there's a mutiny in the dugout soon Really wahts it matter. Its not like he's throwing a gazillion pitches. We are gonna lose either way, so who cares. Jose had yet another worthless start too.
  5. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) This is the same KC team that just took 2 of 3 in the Dome, so they have been playing better...GONE!!!!!!!! See start talking up the Royals and here comes the Offense LOL The Royals have a top notch offense but we also need to realize Jose Contreras is not the god some posters seem to think he is. The guy has been nothing but mediocre since being placed on the DL and I'd make a case that he's been even worse than mediocre. Our rotation sucks, its pretty simple and easy to see. Of course our defense definately didn't help him out, but Jose did get hit hard too that inning.
  6. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) I'm surprised to see Sweeney called up. I've now interviewed another big leaguer, mwha! Too bad I'm off to Germany in two days so I'll miss most of the games in September. I'm shocked because you nkow the Knights will be really pissed, especially if these guys aren't playing early on and they really get there asses handed to them in the minor league playoffs. I realize a bunch of you are going to tell me who cares, the major league playoffs are more important and yes they are, but we are really s***ting on our farm team right now that we are affiliated with and it isn't a good practice to do that because we may get totally screwed and have our AAA team on the West Coast if we tick the Knights off enough. That said, I'm excited to see Stewart and Sweeney play. Oh and I used to think there clocks started, but I swear September callups are not considered part of a 25 man roster and with that they have yet to start there clocks so this doesn't mean they are eligible for FA any sooner.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Do people really ask before they use a service and walk away from that service if the person providing it states they are a Cub fan? Or a Gb fan if you are a Bears fan? Or a Redwings fan if you are a Hawks fan...?? I would hope not, but I guess we just aren't true fans Steff
  8. QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) The Yankees guys are actually pretty good and unbiased, it's hilarious that ESPN was more pro-yankees than the YES Network. So I would assume he merely does it to look even more unbiased. Ya, they have by far one of the best booths, if not the best, in all of baseball.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) When are the Knights playoffs over? Well, I guess I should ask when they start, not when they finish.... They ended the second they made these callups. I would have to think the Knights are extremely pissed off at the Sox.

QUOTE(shipps @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) The Mars Volta, death cab 4 cutie, and minus the bear. prob my top three. 3 of my personal fav's. Good call. That said Mars Volta's latest album, not a big fan of.
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) Probably a strain or just your muscles were trying to adjust to the hard workout. It sounds like you just really upd your weight or your reps and that is why you are feeling more soreness than usual. Of course Its hard for me to say that for sure cause I think its something that depends on the person. Some people recover better than others and obviously if you haven't lifted in a bit it would probably be the reason your a little extra sore but if you've been lifting consistently and just slowly upping things I wouldn't expect any unordinary soreness.
  12. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Well, you'd be quite wrong in that regard. Parts of the South Side, especially in Bridgeport, are going to boom within the next ten years. Don't get me wrong, I think they will boom but I think you'll see the developers in no hurry to instantly throw stuff up. If the market was as hot now as it was a year ago or even before that I think you'd see them working at more frantic pace to really redevelop the area across from the Dan Ryan. Right now they are going at a more slow pace because they know they have prime land but I think they are going to wait out the market slowdown.
  13. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Has that ever happend in MLB before? Here are the #s: Dye- 39 Thome- 36 Konerko- 29 Crede-28 These 4 will all hit 30+ Homeruns. When was the last time a team had 4 guys hit 30+ homeruns? Uribe- 16 Iguchi-14 Pierzynski- 12 Theres a good chance AJ won't hit 20, but I like the chances of Uribe and Gooch. The Sox could be breaking some offensive records this season. The Rockies had a team that I think had Gallaraga, Bichette, Castilla, and Walker and I think all of them had 30 HR's.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 06:55 AM) The condo plan has been "in the works" for over 2 years already now. For whatever reason they are in no rush to get the project going. My guess is with the real estate markets slowing, the developers are in no hurry to put money out there, especially since property values will probably go down a bit more between now and than. All I can say is one thing, this sucks, but at the same time its part of doing business and when your leasing you can get moved at any time. The owner of this building has his right to things that he sees fit. Afterall, its his money that bought the buildind and while Jimbo pays rent the other guy (Ray) owns the building and what he wants to do with it is his perogative.
  15. I don't see how anyone even comes close to Johan. The guy is downright nasty.
  16. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) It comes on movable palets and is real easy to move. Also the roof will be open for most of the later games and the MNF game. Ya, I think it takes something like 24 hr's to move it all in, but they apparently have scheduled proms there and are going to have conventions and all kinds of other stuff there so it really works well for them to have the tray of grass.
  17. I was so bummed when I found out that was the Monday night game. I had plans all year to go to that game cause I knew it was the Bears turn to go to AZ and than I find out its on a Monday and won't be able to make the drive out there. My dad lives out there part of the year so I'd have been golden. So Tom, hopefully you can get tix and bring him a Bear Winner. The stadium looked absolutely magnificient when I drove past it during spring training.
  18. If I can get work off, I'll be back for the 11th straight year. Spring Training is my favorite time of the year.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) For most hitters, I'd buy the "playing in Birmy" excuse, but not for Getz. He's not Josh Fields. I'd guess that he's a guy who's not going to hit a lot of flyballs that would normally go out, but instead die in the air. Jerry Owens and Ryan Sweeney both showed last year that, with more room in the OF, slap hitters can be pretty effective in that park. I still see Getz as, at best, a major league backup. Even then, Pedro Lopez is having a better year and is a full year younger than Getz. Pedro is the one guy that I was overly harsh on, but in reality I think it was Dan who was really pushing hard for Pedro and Lopez is still (sadly) possibly our best middle infield prospect, especially because none of us like Valido. I like Valido's baseball smarts and defense, but I have reasons to think he'll never ever ever hit sucessfully again.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 07:32 AM) It's basically a tossup between CF and SS, you have to go on a team by team basis I guess. Taking into consideration the type of park they play in (big OF, Comerica) and what kind of pitching staff they have (sinkerballers, flyball pitchers). On some teams the SS position could be more important and on others it would be CF. I tend to agree with you and despite a few funks by Juan this year, he's still a premiere defensive shortstop and he really helps us save runs. I see absolutely no reason to gripe about a guy whose hitting over .300 with RISP and 2 outs, who has 15 plus HR's, 50 Plus RBI's, and plays top notch defense. I've never once griped about Juan, although I wouldn't be shocked if he's gone at the end of the year.
  21. Last year I remember Gammons would report a good chunk of the names but I assume with Gammons still recovering that no one else on ESPN tried to come through with that sort of list.
  22. He'll probably be the difference maker in the NL Wild card race as I think he'll go to the Pads, although the Dodgers also have some interest and could nab him. We know he likes San Diego and the Pads have always been fans of Boomer.
  23. Its going to come down to Jeter, Morneua, and Dye. I think Jeter has had a tremendous year on a Yankee team that overachieved for most of the year while Dye/Morneau have both been stellar and whichever team makes the playoffs there guy will be the one whose the biggest competition to Jeter. No, I don't give the MVP to a DH unless they are amazingly better than anyone. I also don't give the MVP to a guy that isn't in the playoffs unless there numbers are amazingly better than everyone elses. Ortiz finds himself in two of my categories (if the season were to end today) and that means I wouldn't even think about voting for him cause his numbers would need to be doubly impressive compared to anyone elses and I don't think they are. Plus I think he's aided by hitting ahead of Manny.
  24. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) I'm not bashing Perez. He remains and old middle reliever. Middle relievers in the minors mean very little, especially before they reach AA which was the case when we made the list. I'd rate him higher now because he has shown production in AA, but I can't say I'm gitty over Perez yet. You also have me who completely hates lower level relievers. Omogrosso is about the only one I like right now. I say this because there is usually a reason these guys are pitching out of the pen. In fact, I am usually the one doing everything possible to push relievers down and down the list. I'm the tools person of the group.
