Bulls @ trailblazers.
QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Peja would easily be our best shooter/scorer ( sorry gordon fans). While he defense is not great he can play solid enough defense against small fowards. Once he gets matched up against power forwards he is f***ed. I agree with that, I just tend to think the wing/guard positions are a strenght of the Bulls. That said I realize Peja would be the Bulls best player (I guess Hinrich could be a better player by this time next year). However, I hate not playing Deng because I think he has the ability to be a very good all around player. I'm of the thought that Gordon will not develop into more than a 6th man (and the best 6th man ever to say the least). Its not a knock, I just think he's such a good scorer that teams will utilize him later in the game and work him in early on and give him short quick bursts of minutes where he can focus all his energy into scoring. That said, he is one of the few players in this league that if he could figure everything together, he could turn into an AI type player (although I highly doubt he'll ever be that good).

Well that or they could get a good pick from the Knicks and turn that into a solid low post player.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) The thing is they might have to shell out a big contract I mean look at what guys like Foyle get. Hell even Gadzuric got paid. I wonder if they could get something for a package starting with Tim Thomas' expiring contract. I'd think it would have some value, especially if the Bulls could find a low post guy that they saw potential in (that was paid well already, maybe too well) but that the Bulls thought they could turn into something. Than again that could be a waste of what would be FA cap room this off-season. I'm just not convinced that too many of these guys are going to hit the FA market. Obviously Peja would, but I still don't know how much better that makes the Bulls.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) I like Nazr and Przy, and Nene depending on his health status. Big men that score in the post don't grow on trees. No they don't, but the Bulls shouldn't just give out a big contract to someone, they need to find one that fits and, imo, while all of those guys are solid, none of them will fill the scoring need from the low post.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) I am not qwerty but... Ben Wallace Peja - not a post guy, still could be coveted by Bulls Nene Przybilla Wilcox Drew Gooden Radman Nazr Lorenzen Wright So your telling me there is nobody out there. I guess Wilcox wouldn't be too bad and Gooden has good low post moves (But he's not much of a defensive player), but aside form those two none of them can do anything in the post as far as I'm concerned. Meaning the Bulls best option may be via trade.

What crap, that should have been a back court violation. Instead Portland gets a 3.

Bulls @ trailblazers.
Qwerty, any ideas for some low post guys that could be out there (either via trade or FA). I'm curious already and you are the "Chisoxfn" proclaimed Bball expert.

Jarret Jack is looking good. That blocking call on Deng's drive is a makeup call for what should of been goaltending.

Bulls @ trailblazers.
3 3's in the quarter for the Bulls. Noc shot looking better as of late. Any shot at all at acquiring Zach Randolph. He's an Eddy Curry like presence and kind of has an Eddy Curry like attitude (thats not a good thing) but I have no idea if the Blazers would move him.

Bulls guards are biting for the pump fakes from the guards early on. Still they are looking a lot more crisp, but they are too much of a jump shooting team. You can't be a consistently good team when you rely on the jump shot (at least no with the crop of scorers the Bulls have). Songalia needs to be out of that starting lineup with a low post presence that can score. I'd find another guy to get minutes with Sweetney and Chandler.
-
Bulls @ trailblazers.
Same starting lineup, but the Bulls are looking a lot better early. It may just be that Portland looks terrible. At least thus far. Still one serious problem, the Bulls vastly need a low post presence that can score. Sweetney can but he's not on the court enough. Paxson is going to have to find one.

Bob Nightengale: Sox Tell Phills They Want Thome
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) I hope he's not as healthy as Duque was before this season, if you know what I mean. Technically speaking this was the healthiest Duque has been in a long time.

Geoff Blum
Burroughs wouldn't be a bad Blum replacement. He also has some upside (still) and would be a good backup plan to Crede (in case his back does flare up and really bother him). I just don't know if burroughs would accept that role. He's supposed to be a quality individual though (although the fans don't like him much since he's a bust). Of course Mueller would be beter, I just don't know how the Sox can afford that.

NFL awards Super Bowl to KANSAS CITY????
Its BS, they should be able to play in the elements.

I think the Sox could pretty much trade Duque and a mid level guy for Klesko at this point so it wouldn't be a bad plan D.

Summer Internships
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Any of the other college guys got an advice for me? Any good websites to help w/ my search? Past experiences. Possible connections? I did an internship this past summer and it was definately a great experience/opportunity. I ended up talking to a few firm members at a Meet the Firms event (held at my school for accounting students interested in the big accounting firms) and met a few people in the business and asked about internships and they told me to email them there resumes. I did and a month or two passed and I got invited for an interview and lunch and all that good stuff. It was a few interview process, but everything was well worth it. I was treated exactly like I would have been if I were a full time person (with the exception that they refused to work me more than 40 hr's cause if they did I'd have made about 40 bucks an hour). After the whole experience was done (I had a national training for a week and than a 5-6 week work period) they offered me a job (I know in my line of work thats typical and unless you really screw up an internship your going to get an offer). I didn't end up taking the offer, but I have a lot of contacts in that company and in the future if I want to go back there I'm pretty sure I'll be able to. So for all these reasons above, I definately commend you for taking the initiative and going after an internship (it will definately set you a notch ahead when you graduate and go after your 1st career). As far as finding an internship, join one of those business clubs that fits into your major. I did and it was the best thing I could have done for my career (aside from get good grades). I was able to find out so much about my industry as well as meet tons of other firm members (from different firms) to give me an advantage over the competition (your fellow students). These clubs also get emailed with internship opportunities that open up and will email you (if your a member) which gives you a head start. The other thing to do is go to your schools career center. THey should have a ton of internships posted on there and you'll just search for firms that fit in your industry. If you got any other questions Steve, just ask and good luck in your search. I'm sure you'll get some opportunities

Bob Nightengale: Sox Tell Phills They Want Thome
QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Wouldn't any deal for Thome be precluded by a clean bill of health? One that I'm assuming will not be readily available for some time (spring training even?). He's gotta prove that he can play otherwise he's just as big if not a bigger risk than bringing back Frank. I think Thome is right around 100% right now. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Mike Cameron
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) As of a few weeks ago, the Pads we very concered in finding a CF that was great with the glove. Looks like they got him. Like Milkman just said however, Nady does seem like a pretty prized player to give up, but we shall see. Nady is a good player with potential, but he's yet to play everyday and a healthy Mike Cameron is one of the better offensive outfielders in the game. My guess is you'll soon see Ryan Klesko on his way out. In fact, Klesko may not be a bad backup plan if the Sox can't find any other DH's (he'll come cheap in terms of players given up and the Pads would probably eat a bit of his contract). As far as I'm concerned, if Mike Cameron is healthy this is an outstanding trade by the Pads.

A-Rod AL MVP
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Arod is a pretty darn good 3rd baseman and range factor and zone rating won't convince me otherwise. Thats the way I see it. I just know in the games I've watched he's looked very good over at the hot corner. I think sometimes those stats can be skewed. I can't say how in this case, but for all I know there weren't that many balls hit to 3rd base due to some odditiy by Yankee pitching (maybe they all throw really hard so not as many guys pull the ball???).

Spring training..
QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Jason, LOL, it sounds like your stadium likes and dislikes are dictated by the chow!! They all feel really good to me in March, when it's cold here and 80 degrees there I will say the absolute worst to get in and out of for parking, traffic, etc. is ... you guessed it ... Ho Ho Kam in Mesa. What a mess. Most of the other parks are adjacent to or very near the freeway system which makes things really easy. One really nice thing about the Peoria facility is how they treated my dad, a senior citizen. They had a couple of golf carts patrolling the parking lots and asked him if he'd like to hop a ride up to the entrance gates. He thought that was great. I actually like Hi Corbett - you are really close to the field and you can hear everything. I agree with you on that fact about Hi Corbett. I remember walking over and sitting right in the front row while the pitchers were warming out on the rubber (its got the ones down each line between 3rd and the outfield wall) and I could have just about reached out and grabbed them (they were so close). Yep, aside from baseball the food is one of my favorite parts of the trip. There are so many great spots to eat in the Phoenix area and than the stadiums all have some good chow. Overall Peoria is really awesome, only reason I rank Surprise higher is I happened to roam into the back area (the fence was open and I walked right through it, not realizing it was a restricted area). I end up walking past Arod (Just me and him and I just said hey, good luck) and than go into this batting cage area and watch Arod and some minor leaguers hit for a few. I'm there for about an hr and I now am trying to get back into the stadium but the gate I went through is now locked. I end up walking around confused for a minute or two (Trying to find another way in) and finally this guy stops me (he had seen me a few times) and I'm like, how do I get back into the park. He asks me who I am (curious, because he thought I belonged here) and I explained it to him and he laughed saying he just assumed I was the owners son or something. The thing is, for those that haven't been, almost every stadium (especially the Sox and Mariners complexes) allow you to go into the minor league sections and just watch them do the drills (kind of neat for those real big baseball nerds like myself). Best food hands down has to be Peoria. They got everything from Burrito's to Sausages to Pita's. And its all damn good. Every year we go to Peoria (or Tempe) on our way back to Cali because it gives us about a 15-20 minute jump start home. I also have to thank all the senior citizens who volunteer at the parks. They single handedly help make spring training what it is. Without them the teams would have to charge more and it probably woudln't be as great of an experience for so many fans. They all volunteer and most are big time baseball fans and very friendly people (often times they have some good stories too or if your an autograph person they can tell you some good spots to go).
