  1. Plus Matt Sanchez (of Mission Viejo High) is a total stud at QB and they landed him last season as well. It was the 2nd straight year they landed the top qb recruit in the country. And let me tell you, Sanchez is awesome.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Didn't they lose by over 20 to George Mason? Did they. I know there 1st game of the season they won by like 45 or so.
  3. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Yea, tahts because the Patriots have won 3 straight. And they arent even going to make the playoffs this year. Brad Johnson won the SB with the Bucs.. why cant we again? I mean our defense is better than their defense, and we have Jones/Benson/Peterson and a good OL? Like the other guy who says Grossman > Orton.. you must be watching different games than me. He doesn't put up huge numbers, but at the same time he makes all the big throws when needed and today he made a few that were dropped by Mushin. He threw a tremendous pass in the 1st quarter to Mushin that was a TD if it weren't dropped and had another nice deep ball to Mushin but good defense broke it up. Orton isn't asked to throw for 3 or 4 td's, but he makes enough plays when he does drop back. He also protected the football today. He threw a pick and it was on a pass that got away but at the same time it got batted up and the defense made a nice play. Speaking of nice plays, Chris Harris' diving stop in the endzone was awesome. WHen I saw the play happening I thought it was 6 points for sure.
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Super Bowl in Green Bay? How great would a Tampa Bay - San Diego superbowl be there? I'd love a super bowl in places like Green Bay and Chicago. Its a travesty the NFL are a bunch of sissies (the execs and all the corporate sponsors) because not having super bowls in two historic NFL cities (and two of the best NFL cities bar none) is pathetic. Who said the super bowl can't be played in the element, teams have to battle the elements all season and if a team is built around playing in the cold (like the Bears and Pack typically are) they should be rewarded and given an opportunity to stay there, not to play in some sissy ass dome (I think domes should be outlawed in football).
  5. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) But I can name the quarterback of 3 of the last 4 Superbowl winners. Those teams had pretty good defenses too. Most winning teams have good defenses. Trent Dilfer is a super bowl winner, Jim McMahon is a super bowl winner. Defenses have done it before and to be honest, Brady was a huge part of the Pats but there defense was just as big. Also, I still don't understand the hate for Orton. He is a solid qb who made some really nice throws today (he was killed with drops). Oline did an outstanding job protecting the QB as well as opening up rushing lanes against the 2nd best defense against the run. Best Bears game in a long long time and its the biggest win in a long long time.
  6. What a f***ing win. That defense played its best game in years against a very good Panther offense. The offense looked pretty good too (despite just 13 points). Gage is really starting to emerge as a 2nd receiver and man how awesome was his grab on the sidelines to keep the drive going late in the 4th quarter. Mushin had a couple costly drops but the Bears picked him up and Orton was really on target the entire game (with exception to the tipped interception, that was a bad pass).
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) I think this is moot anyway because the Rangers are going to convert him to a corner outfielder. He'll probably take Mench's spot. I thought there were some rumors of Gonzalez getting moved this off-season. I forget where but there were a couple teams interested in a multi team trade with them.
  8. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Im sure our Scouts , G.M. and manager know what there doing, shopping Roberto Clemente II here fellas. I trust there judgement better than the Aaron Rowands fan club. If he is so good, why even bring him up as trade. reality check. Just because Joe and Dick at the Tribune say the Sox should shop Aaron, doesn't mean the White Sox are shopping him. I've yet to see KW quoted as saying he wants to move Aaron. All I ever heard all season were compliments about Rowand's play. The pitching staff knows he saved the club a whole lot of runs and the Sox know it. The only way Aaron Rowand is going in a trade is if they are landing a big time bat like Delgado or Thome or someone else thats not currently on the radar.
  9. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Cameron has 3 gold gloves Aaron has 0 , the comparison ends there. Hunter, Cameron, Wells, Damon, A. Jones, Sizemore , Logan even Rookie W. Taverz had 10 assist to Rowands 3? Not exactlly in that order , thats for defense. Thats right, assists mean your a good defensive outfielder. Like the Guiness Commercial....Rate outfielders defense on Assists....BRILLIANT.
  10. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Im sure they will tell you that they would have Pierre at CF as a whole than Rowand. Cause offense does play a role in baseball. The Sox would be stupid to trade Aaron Rowand for Juan Pierre...STUPID.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) UC Irvine semithwomps Stanford at home, 79-63. Woot Woot Anteaters. They got a really good coach and thus far this year they have been squashing everyone they played. They could be able to pull off an upset or two if they make the tourney.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) :sleep You've been practicing magic. Lord knows its the only way ISU will ever win a national title.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Qwerty, I'm not even worrying about their arms. I doubt either of their arms are very good -- Rowand has a strong arm, just no accuracy (like you said, he's killed a lot of worms this year, winding up and throwing the ball right into the ground). But it seems like people are thinking that because Pierre is faster, he's going to get to more balls. That isn't true. I can't find a defensive stat that puts Pierre as the better defender. Rowand leads in ZR (.939 to .882), Rate 2 (106 to 97), defensive Win Shares (7.6 to 2.9 -- that's a huge lead). I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'd put money on Rowand having a better UZR (which assigns a run value to defense, ala +5, -10) than Pierre, too. I wouldn't do Rowand for Pierre straight up, much less Rowand and Marte for Pierre. That second trade is awful. I'll take Podsednik and his salary that's barely over $1 million, along with the fact that he'll be playing left field, over Pierre at a much inflated salary, and average defense. If the Sox dealt Rowand for Pierre, either it would have to be part of a larger package getting the Sox Delgado or someone else they want or it would have to be a Marte and maybe a prospect (I don't know if I'd even give up a prospect) for Pierre. Than you use Rowand in another trade (say a Jim Thome deal) as a centerpiece. Of course the Sox could be crazy and use Pierre or Pods as there DH and keep Rowand in CF. Hey, you never know.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Sure it would. You'd be replacing Rowand with Pierre. Pierre is worse (I'm not sure how much worse, but it's fairly substantial) defensively than Rowand is. So, you're losing runs on defense. And, I don't see a whole lot of offense improvement from Pierre... He might have the edge, but I think he's giving it right back 'cause he isn't anywhere near the defender that Rowand is. But hey -- we'll have some more stolen bases. So that's good. Beck, you go ahead and find me a statistic that shows Pierre being a better defender than Rowand. Please, do so. Name six better defensive centerfielders. Hey Keith, I think he was saying that if they made this trade these would be assumptions the Sox made because Ozzie feels this way. I don't think he said Pierre is better than Rowand.
  15. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Scouts say he his arm doesnt exist? Who cant make a deep catch playing 380 plus feet back? Lol, Rowand's arm wasn't accurate, but for a long time he had a "plus" arm when he was down in the minors and arm strenght wise his arm is still above average in CF. Oh and he is easily one of the 6 best CF'ers in the game. Ask anyone in baseball and they'll tell you that and yes, I do know people in the baseball world.
  16. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) And Rowand is? Rowand has much more flaws than Pierre. Like No offense, strikes out 2 times as much as Pierre, cant make the routinecatch on bloops over 2nd base that have fallen for (last time I counted over 50 hits) Hits. No threat on the Pads when he actually gets on. Cant bunt for crap, just that reason alone is worth trading Rowand. How many times he couldnt get a simple bunt down is just ridiculous. We get your hatred of Rowand. Just ask scouts about Rowands defense. They'll tell you he's one of the best in the biz.
  17. Game Over. OSU is a Michigan State win away from the Big 10 title.
  18. Touchdown Buckeyes. 25-21. Michigan is gonna have to pull one hell of a comeback. 24 seconds left.
  19. Looking bad for Michigan. OSU is on about the 3 with 29 seconds to go down by 2. A field goal or TD will win it for OSU.
  20. Wow, Risky 4th down attempt by ND and they get it. They are starting to get lose. 14-3 and they have the ball, looking for one more score to close out the half.
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Why do we need a quote from Nicholls State's coach. It's Nicholls State. First off, he's not better than Scott May. May scored 26 in the national title game on the last team to go undefeated in college basketball. Killingsworth will be lucky if he ever plays in a Final Four, considering this is his last chance. He might be pretty good, who knows, I haven't seen him that much. I just wouldn't go wild over him after one game against Nicholls State. And if he was All-Sec or whatever at Auburn, that doesn't matter much to me given SEC's tendency to get beat like a drum the past few years in the NCAA tournament. Most overrated conference year in and year out in the land. Only team that consistently ever does anything in the tourney is Kentucky and they even had their embarassing moments (UAB two years ago). I'm gonna get a little wager going with greasy on whether or not he can outperform Davis when they play MSU. I'll take Davis over him as of right now as the best big man in the B10. Also I have Augustine second as of right now. *Cough* Greg Brunner *cough* (well power forward )
  22. Awesome, awesome freaking Song. I loved "old school" Weezer.
  23. I could see the Sox trading Pierre and trying to lock him up at to a favorable contract (and fair one) knowing that he's probably a more long term option at the top of the order than Pods.
  24. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Both are mediocre. I think Hanley Ramirez is overrated as well as Anibal Sanchez. I would say it's slightly better unless the Marlins could get either pitching prospect from Texas. Its something I give the Yanks and Red Sox credit for. There prospects end up getting talked up in the media a lot and they use it to help drive up there prospects value in trades. People here there names and most good baseball fans will be familiar with them and since they've heard there names in the past so often they just assume they are awesome prospects. That said both have the ability and I don't think they are much of a case of being overhyped (for once). Hell, Borchard was the last Sox prospect to get overhyped by the media and had the Sox pulled a trigger on a deal using him they would have been able to great value thanks to that hypage (he also had all the tools though).
  25. The Ducks shouldn't be one of those teams. I don't know if you have them listed as one of those 6, but they aren't that good, imo. I've been to a couple games and they are a pretty sloppy team. That said they have some good chemistry and Giggy has been playing well when he's been healthy.
