  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Max Scherzer is the Mizzou stud that I'm gonna get to watch a lot next year. Snap, I forgot all about that Dan. With all that talk we had on AIM I completely zoned out to the fact that you'll get to catch some of the Tiger games.
  2. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Man I'm going nuts waiting for BA to put out their final projection tonight. This is getting ridiculous. Ya, I got my alarm set for early AM. Hoping that I'll have an email saying FS is back up. That probably won't happen, but I'm still gonna laze out like a bum for the entire draft (last year I was in school for this day, not this time...WOOT). God I can't wait.
  3. Cal State Fullerton advances. I'm not sure on the final but the radio feed is out and they are archiving it on my schools website. Its not yet on the ncaa scoreboard as final though. CSUF
  4. Tulane gets in. Owings pitched very strong en route to a 7-4 victory over Alabama. Fullerton is up 6-3 in the top of the 9th. Arizona has scored a run in the inning . There are two on and two outs in the Fullerton game. USC is up 5-2 in the top of the 7th.

Interesting comparison in regards to Bogusevic. They compare him a bit with Mulder. I can definately see the resemblance. They have similar builds and repetoires. Obviously thats a heck of a comparison and Bogusevic isn't near there yet, but he does have 3 good pitches and while he isn't a strikeout machine or have an overly dominate fastball he has good movement. His slider is a plus pitch though while his fastball is good and his circle change is a pitch with definate potential. After scouring around and finding a few clips of all the pitchers (and clips don't do justice of watching them in person or on tv often) but I'd rate them Carillo, Bogusevic, Torra, Townsend.
  6. Chisoxfn replied to a post in a topic in FutureSox Board
Carillo was more impressive than both, imo. His fastball has a lot of late movement (both tailing into the hands of righties or away from lefties) and he can also throw it with nice sinking action. Definately has the makings of a nice curve and changeup, but still has to refine those pitches more. Better velocity than the other two. I also think he's more projectable than the others. He has decent height and has good movement, but could potentially add 10-15 pounds to his frame. Really a nice pitcher with good makeup. His ball explodes a lot more than the other two righties.

Just watched some clips on Townsend. This were from his Rice days but his delivery isn't near as smooth as Tora's. Has similar velocity on his FB and holy cripes his slider is whicked (really nice drop). Of course its hard cause the camera angles are nasty. Big guy, kind of bulky, and his delivery doesn't look near as smooth as Torra (I think that had to be mentioned again). And I don't buy the listed weight on Townsend, he looks bigger than Torra and they are listed at the same weight.

Well, wasn't able to get the clip to show up. I don't know how to put in javascript popups and stuff.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Since you've brought up Torra a week or so ago, I've really warmed up to him. I luv warming up... ROFL...I love the comparison in the MLB scouting report on Torra: COMMENT: Large frame. Broad shoulders and long arms. Slimmed down since '04. Similar to Matt Ginter. Quick, loose, and smooth arm. Lots of FB at knees. Able to command FB and CB down and away to RHH. Potential ML starter w/ development of change-up. Just had to laugh that they compare him to Ginter. He's got to be crapping his pants at that. I dno't know if they are talking about the weight loss or him as a pitcher. But Ginter was always a pretty damn big guy in my book. Clip of Torra Don't know if that will work. His curve looks like his best pitch. Fastball was consistent in the 88-90 MPH range on this day. Also mixed in a changeup, looked like a pretty decent changeup (hard to tell from the angle).

  11. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Nice, easy W that's the way it should be against the rockies. Ya, probalby the most relaxing game all season.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Skiles' agent went on the radio today and on Chicago Tribune Live and basically said it's much more than money and length, then when they asked what he wouldn't say which translates into we want more money. If they give him anymore money he'll be a top 5 paid coach. He certainly isn't that good. I don't see Washington paying Eddie Jordan that and they beat the Bulls. Plus Skiles almost a completely new team from the one he inherited. Skiles is asking for too much. He wants to get payed like he's Larry Brown and he's clearly not on that level. He hasn't even won a championship yet so screw him. I'm confident Pax will find someone better whether that be Phil or Flip. And people don't underestimate Phil. He had Kobe who's arguably the most selfish player ever to play the game. The triangle would definately work with Gordon in it. There's other coaches out there I wouldn't mind. Eric Mussleman whos a younger less stubborn Skiles comes to mind. I'll f***ing puke if I have to see the triangle ran without a total superstar who can make buzzer beaters all game long. Triangle offense is horrid, only reason it worked for the Bulls/Lakers is because they both had total superstars at the guard position who could bail the team out when the shot clock would die and the triangle wouldn't get the offense a good shot (happens way too much in the triangle).
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) hawk did say something about hearing about how many ex-chicagoans move to colorado. If I were to live anywhere other than Orange County or Chicago, it would be Colorado. Its just a beautiful state with a lot of really nice parts. Weather isn't too shabby if your in the right spot either.
  14. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) the peter pan cheese/pb crackers are heaven. Hell ya
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Freddy pitched himself a hell of a ballgame from innings 2 through 8. Let's see the Sox get 20 games over the .500 mark tomorrow night. Retired 22 straight or something like that.
  16. Rocks announcers said it was one of the best games they've ever seen pitched at Coors (obviously Nomo's no-no would be #1 on the list or so I assume). Freddy was flat out dynomite minus that 1st inning (where he really made one bad pitch and fell behind to two batters). Impressive performance and wow did the offense look smooth (tons of basehits, lots of two out rallies, me likey). GO SOX
  17. Nice, Shingo gets the job done. Didn't look too bad. I still say his biggest problem is control. If he gets that solved, he'll be back to his 04 form. Problem is he isn't going to find it pitching once a freaking month (exaggeration) and he's best suited spending a couple weeks down in Charlotte pitching 2 out of every 3 days.
  18. I go to the games when they are in Anahiem, that doesn't make me a fairweather fan. A few posters are at the game tonight as well and 99% of posters here aren't fairweather fans. I think its cool that there are so many Sox fans there cheering on our favorite team I know I'll be cheering em on this weekend down in SD.
  19. 6-2 Fullerton in the bottom of the 6th 3-2 USC in the top of the 4th I spoke too soon on Tulane advancing. They are up 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th over Alabama. Micah Owings (very good two way player) has pitched 7 strong innings for Tulane. Its game 6 and I think Tulane will advance with a win.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Gotta finish the more imporant NCAA Softball games first. UGH I was puking this weekend. The paper in Iowa showed college baseball on ESPN and I turned only to see it was softball. UGGGH. ESPN needs to televise these on their big boys, not on ESPNU which almost no one gets (unless your living in a college dorm).
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) When are games going to start being on ESPN? I wanna watch Cesar The super regionals will all be televised on ESPN. Obviously they will only broadcast some of the games, but those start on Friday.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) I disagree. The MLB rule has always stated that as soon as you attend your first class you are no longer eligible to sign. Townsend's agents tried to get around that by declaring him Ineligible or voiluntary retired (or whatever term they used), saying he was giving up his eligibilty so that he could continue to negotiate. Unfortuantely, they did so and assumed that would be okay and Townsend went to class. MLB stuck by their rules, which I think they should have. The rule is there to give the MLB team leverage (the player has the leverage of going back to school). It is there for a purpose and to allow an agent to circumvent it, gives agents an advantage. I was glad that MLB took the stand they did. I understand the purpose, but I think there should be a way for a player to deem himself ineligible from collegiate baseball and go back to school. Of course if he were to do that he'd be giving up a whole lot of leverage. There are definately two sides to this and I think Townsend was on the end of some bad advice and it came back to bite him in the butt.
  23. Rice, Georgia Tech, Texas, Tulane, and Baylor are all moving on (Baylor beat Stanford). USC is up 2-0 over Pepperdine. Like I said earlier, if they advance and their 2nd game is televised you'll all have to check out Ian Kennedy. Total stud. Him and Mizzu's sophmore pitcher (name escapes me at the moment but I think its Max something) are gonna be really fun to watch next year.
  24. Fullerton is up 6-0 on Arizona in the 4th inning.

Just tried something new, maybe just maybe I'll get a quick response and get this baby up before the end of draft day (*crosses fingers*)
