  1. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) There is absolutely no way the Bears should trade the 4 for Edge. At 4 you have a chance to draft 1 of 3 backs who have much better health than Edge. RB's wear down over time, some draft people talk about how Benson already has 2-3 more seasons than Brown. Well Edge has far more seasons than any of them. I would consider trading our 2 and RW for Edge and Colts 3 or 4, at worst the 2 and RW. But the facts are we are doing the Colts a favor, this is a salary dump and they are not going to get close to a fair deal. Personally Id rather have Brown, Cadillac, and Benson than Edge, but if we get to keep our 1 than we can draft BPA, (probably Rolle or Johnson depending on the starter traded). SB I totally agree. No way would I give up the 4th overall selection for Edg. The only way I'd even consider it is if the Bears got the colts 1st, 2nd, and 3rd plus Edg. That 4th pick is so valuable. On a sidenote, Bears met with Mike Williams agent today. Probably just a prelim thing, but I think with his most recent workout him and Braylon are quite similar stock wise and the Bears will have a chance to draft one of them if they want it.
  2. However, I should point out were all gonna have a debate on this. Because there is gonna be some sort of mandatory innings pitched so relievers aren't the only thing people use. I was just waiting to see what everyone thought the inning total should be.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Couldn't he be on the 60 day DL without taking a 40 roster spot? Yep, kind of like the Sox did with Escobar.
  4. Sox seem to like going after these type of guys. OF course with him out all season they'll have some time, but I could definately see them putting in a claim. But so will a lot of other teams, or that would be my guess.
  5. Chisoxfn replied to YASNY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ozuna has talent guys, I wouldn't doubt that. However, no reason to get rid of Crede. Plus he's hitting good of late. Of course I can't make any of my usual bold predictions during ST since I won't be going till the very last week So for the next few weeks I should just move out to Chicago, LOL.
  6. f***ing Bulls***. The Iowa-MSU game isn't televised, instead the UAB game is. Hores*** I tell you.
  7. Well today the ESPN people are talking and they are saying no way Indiana gets in without a win today against Minnesota. On the other hand they think there is a shot Minn gets in. A couple of them even said if IU wins and Iowa wins the big 10 could actually get 6 teams. I think the only reason something like this would happen is because a lot of other bubble teams have tanked it already. I love the big ten so I would love to see it happen. Also, St. Mary's better be getting an at-large bid.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) How's Northwestern doing? I'm at school, unfortunately... Can someone give a quick update, within the next five-ten minutes? Its about a 8 point game by the Illini. That was about 5 minutes ago, which was when I last looked.
  9. Alexander is now on the block for reportedly less than a 1st round pick. If given the choice i'd take Alexander over Edgerin due to Alexander being the healthier of the two.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) The Bears Oline is gonna be very solid next year. Tait-Brown-Kruetz-Q-Miller As long as his contract isn't murderous on the cap, get er done JA. Having a good RB would help the oline as well because they'd be bulldozing the opponents and with a good RB teams wouldn't be blitzing the QB near as much. I'd be a fan of this move, but salary wise, it would be tough to fit him in. Also, I'd think our 2nd would be enough to get it done. Then obviously I think the Bears would draft Braylon.
  11. Remember, when Fullerton wins the big west tourney, big west will get two teams in, Pacific and Fullerton Oh ya, Go Hawkeyes tomorrow. I'm starting to like this team again, which means they'll get there asses dropped tomorrow. The loss of that turd Pierce has been a good thing, mentally for them.
  12. Good news everyone, the real Orange Crush...Cal State Fullerton beat UCSB in the 2nd round (Fullertons 1st game) of the Big West tourney. They play the 2 seed (Utah State) tomorrow. GO TITANS
  13. Next set will be up tomorrow
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) I am going to start the hype right now. After watching this kid pitch, and listening to him talk to Hawk and DJ, I have no doubts that this kid could step into our rotation today. My question is if someone in the Sox rotation got hurt, would Brandon be the first one called up right now? Has he passed Diaz and Munoz with his outings this spring? Ozzie thinks so, and I agree with him. Diaz and Munoz aren't starters...period, so right now Bmac is definately the best option, minus Neal Cotts who I think would make a good starter but Ozzie obviously likes him more out of the pen. So in short, yes, yes he is and it couldn't happen to a cooler guy.
  15. Well you'll have Haig, Miller, Rodriguez there for sure. Gio will start in Kanny but will finish the year in WS, imo. Don't know if Flores or Lopez will find themselves in the rotation at WS or in the pen. Hell, you may see Fabio Castro in the rotation at WS. I'd guess Honel would start the year at WS, call it a hunch, but no reason to rush him.
  16. Ya, those posters at WSI are mistaken. No player knows where they will be at this point. They may have a feeling or have been given indications but in a lot of guys, how they do in big league camp or elsewhere will have a great effect on where they start. For example Bmac probably had a good shot of coming back to Bham prior to ST but thus far he's making a very good impression and will now likely start in Charlotte, although its still too early to say at this point. My guess is Anderson will play in Charlotte but I think the Sox are making a mistake and should give him some more time in Bham. Just my opinion, especially since they have OF depth are in no real rush.
  17. Yep, Lumsden is very nice and quiet spoken. Wish him the best. Really rough news cause stuff wise he's good plus he's got some damn good poise on the mound. Still its important he gets healthy and the Sox let him take his time. And like Randar says, it definately explains the dead arm period.
  18. Ankiel was a .250 hitter as a pitcher. He could hit. And he still can throw. Still really sucks cause he had as good of stuff as Wood.
  19. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Excellent post Punch . I read this board almost every day and yet I cant see myself having thousands of posts about the White Sox. Yes I'm a huge Sox fan have been since i was 10 yrs old 37 yrs ago. I know the team inside and out but, woo boy there are a bunch of argumentative know-it-alls on this website. I swear half of them must fantasize about being the Sox GM. The way they know stats and argue about the tiniest crap amazes me. I mean yesterday's game thread was ruined by guys arguing who's worth more to the Sox Timo or Borchard. Elitist ?? Hell yes! I admit, I'd love the job
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Pods will steal more bases than Patterson but Patterson is a better defender than Pods. Its not even close either. Patterson has his flaws defensively too, but he's immensley better then Pods. If given the choice I know I'd take Corey over Pods. Pods steals bases better but I'd say Patterson is as good at everything else. I guess its tough though cause if Pod puts up numbers like his rookie year, the SOx are gonna be in luck and in that case there aren't many leadoff hitters better.
  21. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) practically no reward. He hit around the old Borchard line in his last go around. He has 1 career steal (and tell me that's no big deal when all this board has been praising lately is speed and defense when Jeremy has neither. People are glad that Lee is gone for not fitting our new mold and then they like the idea of having this stiff). Giambi has never been a run producer or a scorer. Lastly, his career slugging percentage has been eclipsed by Timoniel F'n Perez twice. Ya, and the year before he played in over 100 games with 20 HR's and a .400 OBP. The guy has some value. Just look at his career numbers and he's been nothing but a good bench player. I think this is a real good move. Not saying he's gonna start but he isn't a bad bat to have off the bench. The one thing that kills him is that he's not very good defensively or super versatile. But he can handle a bat. I know he struggled with Boston, but typically he'll do a .260/.380 with some pop. Hell if he played every day he'd hit 25 hr's. Also he's supposed to be like Jason, ie a very good character individual in the clubhouse.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Fair enough and I agree that's it's to early to give up on him. Honestly, my opinion on him is more from watching him pitch then the results he has shown. I actually really like Felix because of the control he has shown throughout his minor league career, like I said earlier his fastball just scares me, it's just to straight and he has to locate it perfectly for it to be effective. The thing is Felix in the minors proved he was able to do that. If he can get over this mental hump he seems to have who knows he could be a successful 5th starter in this league, I surely hope so. The key is, I Think in the minors he got away with his mistakes. Ie, he hits too much of the plate and in the majors its just not going to work out. I really don't think he's gonna be anything that great. Right now I'd say Baj and Munoz are better long term options. Thats soley because I like Baj more and like his mixture of pitches a bit better. Diaz will pitch in the majors though. I just don't see much better than a 4.5 ERA out of him, even as a reliever.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Just curious, why hasn't Pablo Ozuna gotten much of a shot in the majors? He was great in the minors... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pablo_ozuna.shtml Minor League Totals: 8 years .317 career AVG .357 career OBP .443 career SLG .800 career OPS 234 career SB 24 career CS I guess it might have something to do with him mysteriously getting 4 years older. Ozuna was one of the top rated prospects in someones organization for quite a while.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) Rowand, is this your first time seeing Sweeney live? Reason I ask, it's my first time, and he has an odd batting stance. Almost John Olerud like. But, that swing is BEAUTIFUL, like you said... Ya, he has quite the unique swing, but if you notice he gets his hands through the zone ultra quick. The one thing he doesn't do often enough at this point is drive the ball. However that will come with experience. I really compare him to Garret Anderson and I think they'll have similar careers offensively. In the sense Sweeney will come up and be a good average hitter and slowly yet surely also turn into a good power hitter.
