  1. Hey Smalls. I don't know how you got Texas, but I signed up as Texas GM two days ago. Somehow their was a confusion and I guess someone thought we were co-gming. I don't know for sure though cause I'm just playing in this thing, not in charge
  2. Shush you, I'm such a charitable poster...always trying to delight people in my grammar misfortunes
  3. Thtas pretty cool Killa. We both were lucky then. I was in Vegas this past weekend and one 125. Bears cost me on the over otherwise I had a 400 dollar parlay. I was tempted to put Money on the Sox but then thought, I'll wait. One thing I noticed was the Sox were pretty out their in terms of odds. They were 40/1 at Caesars last week, with the Rangers and Tigers rated right with them. Them and the Rangers were the best bet I saw in picking up good money. Sounds like a fun time killa
  4. Tate is going to be a good one. Only a sophmore, the Hawkeyes get two more years of him
  5. OMFG, DO IT. Nene is a good offensive player, well a developing one who seems to have a good attitude. I like Chandler but I don't know if he's low post game will ever develop properly. Plus they get Sktisifhidi or however you spell it (I know the spelling is far different then the pronunciation). He's thought of as a good defender and both have big bodies. This then opens up a deal of Eddy Curry. Personally I'd unload both of them and start over. I love the base with Hinrich/Deng/Nocioni and I'm even thinking Gordon could have a future as an awesome 6th man. I realize you don't draft a guy in the 3rd round for that, but I'm talking Bobby Jackson type. Just instant offense. Then Skidi/Nene coming off the bench or starting with the Bulls maybe able to acquire Wilcox for Curry in a 3 way deal involving Dunleavy potentially. Besides that they would be able to keep these quality players and be able to make a run at Stromile Swift. Swift/Skidi/Nene Wilcox/Skidi/Nene Deng/Nocioni Gordon/Deng/Nociono Kirk Hinrich/Gordon/Duhon Obvioulsy AD and Harrington would probably get sihpped out, potentially for a good player. I think Harrington is actually a FA but I could be wrong.
  6. Sandy Koufax
  7. Good Riddance
  8. I'd be really surprised if Sandy went and joined the Mets coaching staff cause I know the Sox are interested in giving him a position somewhere in the organizatoin. Also, glad to see JM get another opportunity. I thought he'd of been an excellent hire for the Phillies and while thinks didn't work out in Chicago, I think with the right personell, he's going to once again be a good manager, like he was in the early years with the Sox.
  9. If Seattle or Bmore both lose out on them that could be a very nice situation. Joel Pineiro and Randy Wynn could look nice, especially if the Mariners desperately want to add power at 1b. The Sox would probably have to include something extra, but thats a deal I'd be really interested in.
  10. I'll agree with that. I've long said if the Sox don't use PK for RJ they will try to get involved in the deal anyway and pick up Javier Vazquez. However if that doesn't happen I kind of think the Sox will keep Paul Konerko and instead look towards free agency for a starting pitcher. But Beck a deal with the Expos would be more then fine with me, they have some pieces that would work. But I don't think your going to get Chad Cordero out of Montreal, if they did, I'd be giddy.
  11. Teams may not wait till Dec 7th now since the Cubs are rumored to be willing to offer him arbitration. Although I can't see them doing it with Nomar.
  12. Then I take that comment back Steff I forgot the mid-season acquisitions which would of definately boosted that payroll up.
  13. 3 years is a pretty long term deal for Damian Miller, imo. And your right you'd be nuts to give Varitek anything near what he's asking for. But the Angels have been very interested for whatever reason.
  14. The deadline is tonight?
  15. I should mention, his current contract calls for him to be the coach until 2009.
  16. Kris Benson is singlehandedly the most over-rated pitcher in baseball. The Mets were morons for giving up the prospects they did to get him from Pittsburgh and the Mets were even bigger morons for giving him a 3 year deal worth a little more then 7 million a year.
  17. This was from BenMaller.com. I sure hope its true cause it be a welcome to have him singed up till 2012. The big reason is this can further enhance trust in the guys he recruits that he's going to be at Iowa for the long haul. Ferentz....YES
  18. Thats kind of dissapointing since they didn't really re-invest those earnings in 2004, but I'm hoping they will this offseason. Still, I have no problem with the chairman making money, absolutely zero problem. As long as he fields a competitive team. I think all the shareholders deserve the right to make a return on their money.
  19. I think its sucks that most of the seniors seasons are ended by the events of some of their mates.
  20. Ok cool, I was confused, I thought somehow someone assigned me as a co-gm.

Just want to make a post to make sure everyone is careful in this thread and that they stay away from personal attacks.
  22. Borchard in Charlotte, as a throw in, or in Chicago as a reserve outfielder. Konerko will be in Chicago or Arizona, imo. Ordonez in New York, Baltimore, or San Francisco Crede in Chicago. Garland in Chicago, Arizona, Oakland, or Pittsburgh
  23. I'll tell you one thing, Iowa has a lot more athletism then I've seen in a long long time out of one of their squads. They also seem to have some low post players in Brunner/Hansen, a guy that can create his shot in Pierce and then a very good shooting point guard in Horner. Also liked the way some of their younger players played too. I was impressed, especially with their defense. They absolutely shut down Louisville's offense. That Alex Thompson, who is a freshman is an insane looking athlete who is already getting minutes early in the year and should continue to develop. They only have one senior too, which is a nice thing to look at in terms of long term. If they can have a good season now, then Alford can build on it and maybe go for the big ten next year. Oh wait, their I go getting my hopes up so I better just shut up now before I get dissapointed by Alford.
  24. Iowa looked great from the moment I turned it on. Only flaw with them is their free throw shooting otherwise it would of been a 15 point win. Hansen definately looks thin Chris, but darn talk about playing good defense and he did an oustanding job forcing the opponents to alter their shots. Heck, I'm not going to count anything but Iowa looks like they may have something. Still, I've thought that too many times with Alford only to get dissapointed so I'll wait and see.
