  1. Anderson is around the same amount, if not less. They have him at a great price and he's a free agent next year. This is a Cub fan wishing. If it happened, it would be a great move by the Cubs.
  2. Yanks may not have Sheffield, a few articles have mentioned that talks are breaking down. Orioles are definately the favorites, Dodgers could be interested although he would never go there and I still wouldn't count out the Angels if they could make a deal.
  3. Benito may be old, but he still calls a great game, still has a pretty good arm and has quite a bit of pop in his bat for a catcher. This is a another good move by the Royals. They are doing a very good job.
  4. About 14 months and the site already ahs that many posts..pretty amazing
  5. Agreed; Jeff Nelson, Arthur Rhodes, Armando Benitez, Al Levine, Jose Jimenez, etc.
  6. None of the threads occured in Pale Hose Talk Anyway...I'm gonna move this to the off topic board now
  7. I'm pretty sure it was all removed.
  8. I agree with you Rex. In all honesty I didn't want Alomar back, I didn't want Gordon back at his price and a multi year deal and well, nothing you can do when the Angels go out and make a flat out impressive offer for Colon. The only thing I will disagree with is how some quality relievers have been signed that could help the Sox, but at the same time there are other guys out there. Things could be a lot worse. Now if at the end of December the Sox are still sitting here things could be different, but as of now there are still plenty of ways to build the Sox into a championship caliber team. Will they, who knows, but right now, I'm not going to stress it.
  9. The three were banned for uttering hate. It was an ugly few days to say the least.
  10. I definately have hope...its just going to be a longer offseason then some expected because the Sox are going to have to move the likes of Maggs, Konerko and Koch to free up room to make other moves. Its going to take time for that to happen and the one thing that I think about is whether or not they will be able to move Konerko and Koch. I do think Kenny is trying his best though, whether thats good enough, I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see.
  11. Jugger has been posting quite a bit lately. Work sometimes has him busy, but he has been around this past week.
  12. The one big flaw in this is that the contract specifically states that JR can't use US Cell's money on players or pocket it. It can soley be used to renovate the stadium. Now their is nothing wrong with writing letters, but I recommend leaving explictives out of them because the best way for them to gain your respect is to yell swearwords because then you give them reason to throw your letter right into the trash. I'm still willing to be patient, but I think all Sox fans are frustrated right now.
  13. Agreed, it would be greatly appreciated if someone in the Chicago area could update everyone. I know Tizzle did it for the last show and then him and Ross were able to get on and even give a shout out to the site, which was awesome Thanks for whoever helps out and posts it
  14. Not soxfan99 but its Elisha Cuthbert
  15. She's around every once in a while...I just don't think she wants to post right now. I know someone mentioned that they thought she was working on remodeling her house or something along those lines.
  16. Can't trade prospects to get Ventura, you have to wait a certain amount of time to trade him. In regards to Ventura I don't think he would be playing 3rd. Crede is already superior to him and his 2nd half showed some really good things. Crede will be just fine. His defense continues to get better and offensively he shows that he can hit the ball to all parts of the field and has power. He still has to improve his avg and draw more walks, but he keeps making improvements and was one of the few players always willing to move guys over and he had quite a few clutch hits. I'm a big Crede fan though.
  17. KC and Minn still have the best pens in the AL Central, but I think I'd say that Marte is the best reliever in the central. The Twins did get Silva and Joey Nathan, both good relievers this offseason. As far as their closer though, I'd guess they pick up someone like Benitez, Jimenez, or Roberto Hernandez. No one great, but someone solid. And they have Jesse Crain in AAA, a stud closer prospect.
  18. Even though its a 2nd rounder, look at it this way. The Sox will have 6 picks in the first two rounds. I'd say thats pretty darn good. They should be able to have a very good draft and going with last years draft (Which looked really good) completely rebuild the farm system in the lower levels with an influx of talent. I like a lot of the position players that were drafted last year and I think this time the Sox should go heavy on pitching and draft a good catcher or two as well as middle infield prospects, cause you can never have too many of them. Basically they aught to just go best available the whole way down, but find guys that they can sign. I'm guessing with so many picks, they will probably take a few guys a little high for signability reasons.
  19. Al Levine, now I like that name. HE is a solid reliever that can throw a lot of innings and has a pretty a good sinker if I recall. He's definately a quality reliever and I wouldn't mind bringing him back to the Southside. Man it seems like so long ago that Levine was a Sox.
  20. Whats so bad about Lidle, as long as they are bringing him in to be a back of the rotation guy. He's put up pretty solid numbers the past few years and keeps you in games. Now if they want him to be the #2 or 3, then I'd say forget about it.
  21. Remember, there is no guarantee that Scho will be around. The Sox would have to pay him roughly 3 mill a year, so I think its almost a guarantee that he gets non tendered and Wunsch is a FA or at least I think he is.
  22. You'd have a shot at getting Mulder, maybe, if you took on Dye's salary and gave them someone else that could be useful.
  23. The Expos would be nuts not to make that trade cause they'd have a star RF and that money off their books next year. At the same time the Sox would also be nuts to trade Maggs for Livan and Vidro. Now if they somehow were getting another good player in return, then I'd think it be plausible. I do like how you made the salaries work out though, cause thats the only way something like this would happen.
  24. Oh s***, the Royals just got a hell of a lot better. Sully will be a huge acquistion. To go with Grimsley they are now looking to have a bit better of a pen. Geeze it sucks when the Twins and Royals are out there bettering themselves (Well Twins haven't necessarily made themselves better, but they have kept some of their guys and I think they will add a player or two).
  25. I'd say the Sox are the 3rd best team in the division and if they stay put, they could end up as the 4th best because Cleveland has the ability to make a rise. What exactly have the Twins lost. They've lost two closers/stud relievers, but they added Silva and Joey Nathan, both very solid relievers and they have Jesse Crain a stud closer prospect ready to come up, plus they had a lot of other solid relievers and it wouldn't shock me if they add a veteran at one point or another. They got a little worse, but not that much. With Shannon Stewart, he really sparked them and this year he gets to play a full season with them. They will lose Jacque Jones, but will probably get something in return for him and he was out for parts of last season. Mix that with Stewart playing half the season and I think they stay about the same, plus they have a few good outfielders and I guess now Dahman Mohr will get more playing time. Starting pitching wise they lose Milton, but he didn't do jack for them last year, so I don't consider it a loss at all. They do lose a hell of a catcher and Mauer, while good isn't necessarily ready, but Matt LeCroy can whack the ball and was a catcher and I'd guess he gets the bulk of the playing time and Mauer gets more time in the minors. They will lose some production, not as much as some think. The biggest loss will be the way Aj handled the pitchers. So they lose a bit in catcher and a bit in the pen, and the only staring pitching loss is the Kenny Rogers is probably gone, but he isn't that great. They still have a lot of time to make moves and basically the nucleus of that club will be back. Now lets look at the Sox: Pen: Lose Gordon, Sully - No Replacements Found Yet Rotation: Lose Colon - No Replacements Found Yet Infield: Lose Alomar - Harris will be a bit of a loss, but I feel he could put up similar production and could become a shocker so I consider this a minimal loss Outfield: Lose Everett - Great production, although he is replaceable with cheaper options, but when you now have a lot of other ???'s you now have to put a lot of faith in Reed, Rowand and Borchard. Basically the Sox have lost two very good relievers, a hell of a starter and a productive outfielder and a solid 2nd baseman (I don't like him that much) and have Uribe to replace Graffy and thats a bit of a loss, simply because Graffy was so clutch. The Royals haven't really lost anyone and they are adding Matt Stairs (This guy put up a very HIGH OPS last year and is a much better player then Michael Tucker, whom they lost). Are rumored to be adding Santiago and Mondesi too, two more productive players. Plus they get some of their pitchers healthy again. Ya, I'd say the Sox are by far the team getting worse as of now.
