Rays @ White Sox 7:11pm CSN+ - The Passion of The Carlos
Chisoxfn replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) He is just flat out dealing right now. His stuff has basically been there all year, fortunately he got his head together. Great thing is, he should be able to keep this up all season because he shows no sign of his stuff going away. When he was struggling I pointed a lot of it to bad luck and just some poor location. The stuff was still there. And it's looking even better now. He's got a good FB, a great curve and a pretty damn good change. -

I think Pods is gonna add a steal to his statline. -
QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) Sure... 4 games then... hell make it the whole week. BA is not a good everyday player... sorry. Scotty Pods isn't BA in the field, but I will take the bad out there to go with his lead off ability. BA will be traded to a NL team in the off-season. Probably not this year. He'll than go on to be a career 4th to 5th outfielder. Offensively he doesn't have the ability to start.

Gavin is flat out nasty right now. He is so good. Easily one of the best pitchers in baseball over his last 12 or so starts. And if someone thinks I'm kidding, check the numbers. He's going deep into games, giving up few runs, and is looking good doing it. I f***ing love Gavin. He's the most untouchable guy on the roster in my eyes (maybe Gbecks too). -

That was a good 1-2 curve...too bad Pat didn't chase. -
I don't care. Only time it matters is if it is Wise in CF, not Pods. Pods has gotten on base two more times than BA would have already.
-
Upchurch and Griffith both have bad games. 6 runs in 4 innings. Adam Russel with 4 hitless innings of relief work in Charlotte though

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) Ozzie just said that the primary reason they kept “DeWine” (yes, that how he pronounces it) is because he can steal bases. Ozzie, how the hell can Wise steal a base when he can’t get on base?In theory he'd be a late game pinch runner and defensive replacement for Quentin.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) We still don't know who the PTBNL in that deal were, do we? Lance Broadway was evidently one of them and it sounds as if Hudson was on the list of guys they could have received.
-
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) With that deal it appears they were asking for the Mets #1 prospect and a guy in their top 5 prospect list. Its a shame that Poreda has been struggling lately. Because his stock was very high last month. I don't think Poreda's stock went down because of one game. For the most part he's been pretty good and as expected, imo.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) F-Mart is a much bigger prospect than Danks, and Parnell's at least shown some big league success. Parnell is pretty over-hyped though (ML success or not). I could easily make a case that Hudson is a better prospect than Parnell. You have a point on Fmart, but I think he's over-hyped as well with Danks being under-hyped. That said the package mentioned above is relatively close but that doesn't meant the Jays think it is. All depends on what there evaluators think. Also, evidently Wilpon told Minaya and Manuel that there jobs are safe which is probably why Minaya didn't accept the deal. That is referring to the deal which involves Poreda as well.

QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) Mets just rejected a trade for Roy Halladay proposed by the jays; per MLBN Halladay for F-mart, Tejada, Parnell, Neise And that is per John Heyman's twitter

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) What does this mean? It means Brian Anderson doesn't want anything to do with the Sox and wants to be playing someplace else.
-
Per Cowley's Twitter:
-
Per Joe Cowley, Colon is already in Chicago and will be starting one of the games on Friday. He also said that Ozzie said that Garcia had an impressive bullpen session.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Based on? The fact that my eyes tell me so. Or the fact that Anderson has one of the ugliest, most flawed swings in baseball. Nowhere did I say Wise is good but Wise is a better bat than Anderson. Both suck ass offensively though.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) It's unforunate that this move is tainted with Wise staying up and BA going down. Dewayne Wise is worthless. I wouldn't care if it weren't for the fact that BA is better at every single aspect of baseball than Dewayne Wise. Offensively, Wise is better and while I know Wise has had a worse season (and he's still a bad offensive player) Anderson really does suck offensively. However, there aren't major differences in there offensive game where defensively, Anderson is really a premiere defensive OFer. And since we are going to seriously have a major need with guys coming off our bench to play outfield defense, I'd have went with the defensive specialist.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) WHAT? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7489/s...VYLIrgaSXGFCLcF Anderson is batting .200 in July, how can you just flat out lie? And .203 in June. He's a bad hitter, period.
-
This is a bad move. With Quentin/Pods/Dye in the OF you need to have a defensive guy that can come in and replace Q. Why because we need to keep Q's foot healthy. Plus, we have Pods who isn't that great in CF. So why wouldn't we late in games sub in our best defensive CF (BA) while moving Pods to LF? Makes a ton of sense to me. Oh and lets remember, I've not clamored for BA to be the starter, I've said he's a s***ty hitter but when we are comparing him to Wise the better decision hands down is Brian Anderson on your bench.

If the Sox can deal Dotel and Liney and get something in return (at least for Dotel) than it might not be a bad idea. Assuming they can than use the cash to get the pieces they need. I still think Jenks could be the other guy you need to move as well. It would be an odd way to do things but if in theory you could move Jenks/Liney/Dotel and get Halladay for the talent you receive in return (plus maybe one prospect not named Flowers/Danks) than it might not be that bad. The Sox would than have the ability to go out and swing a deal or two for something else they might want while moving Thornton to the closer spot, Richard to the pen to join Poreda.
-
I'd s*** a brick if we traded Danks for Halladay.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 08:35 AM) Texas, NM, Ariz & Cali should be labeled "Mexicans" probably.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) yea, i didnt like it NEARLY as much as I loved HP5 (my fav of the HP movies). 6 tried to include the romance part way too much and didnt include nearly enough fighting. It just seemed herky-jerky and disjointed most of the time. Slughorn was annoying as hell in the beginning but got better as it went on. oh... and not NEARLY enough Tonks. Very disappointing flick

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) It needs to be made clear that Brandon Allen is NOT just a 1B/DH type. I, and anybody whose seen him play, know that he is a talented athlete. In debating the merit of the trade, please do not call him a "1B/DH" type. That's the thing that bothers me. The thing is those are really the only two positions he can play, unless a team wants to work things over and move him to LF. Allen is a very good defensive 1st baseman but that is what he is, a first baseman.
