Sounds like Havlat liked Tallon and that other people went around him and did the Hossa deal or something?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Problem is, the Bulls don't want to part with Hinrich. I don't see a Boozer deal getting done without Hinrich in it. Tyrus Thomas, Jerome James, and a 1st rounder....ya, it could happen, but probably not. It also would mean the Bulls would be less likely to have room to go after a max FA next season (but again, they still might very well be able to). And that trade I proposed meets all salary requirements per Real GM trade checker. -
QUOTE (DC23MVP @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) I think that a Floyd, Beckham, and Alexei for Halladay deal is pretty good for us, but I don't think we need to do it. We'd have a whole at 3B and at SS that would be hard to fill, and I think it wouldn't be worth it. That would be one of the worst trades in the history of baseball. I wouldn't trade Gavin straight up for Halladay all things considered (no, I'm not saying Gavin is better than Halladay). If I made a trade, I'd built it around Alexei or Bekcham and even than I'd rather not go after Roy and instead focus my attention on other areas.

Bulls bought out Tim Thomas contract. This will keep them from going into the Luxury Tax area. In addition, Boozer was on Chicago Radio today and indicated he has talked with the Bulls, would be open to an extension, and has been told by Utah that they are moving in another direction and that he will be traded. Cleveland GM has also reportedly told teams Chicago is the team to watch out for as they have good vets, a young star, and the money to sign at least one Max FA next year. -
That is correct, unfortunately I have a wedding to attend to so my trip to Chicago will be in September now.

Some interesting material between the lines

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I wonder if the hype around Nunez is warranted, or if he's another Nick Massett. I wasn't impressed when I saw him. Very similar delivery to Dotel, imo. Good fastball but I saw zero secondary stuff. But he does have plus velocity. I know the Sox scouts were high on him though. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 08:43 AM) Griese was released by TB. He knows the Bears' system and would be a better backup than Hanie. And he hates the Bears.
-
He was DH'ing and the Sox wanted to be careful due to the wetness of the field (running the bases) and pulled him from the game early. It was precautionary. Can't blame them.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) The one untouchable prospect we had is now currently playing 3B for the Chicago White Sox. Tyler Flowers is very close to being untouchable as well.

Were digging in and trying to get the info. No one I've talked to knows yet.

That game is still going on.

August 1st is tentatively going to be a huge day for FutureSox.com -
Per Ben Balders twitter.

Strasburg will walk and Harper will be the next to fall victim of the Nats.

That was very nasty. Floyd is one of my favorite pitchers in all of baseball to watch. I really have a massive mancrush on him.
-
I wouldn't trade Gavin Floyd straight up for Roy Halladay. I'm not saying Floyd is better than Roy but that the money savings and the age and everything combined make Floyd far more valuable, imo. Plus if the Sox are willing to pay a pitcher 15M a year they can get an above average righty without giving up Gavin, imo.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) Does he know Blackburn has better numbers than any of our starters? That's a pretty dumb statement by some pretty dumb announcers. Blackburn has nasty movement. Nasty.
-
I f***ing love Floyd. Have I said it enough times that I think Floyd is the best starter we have. ERA under 2 since May 21st.
-
Luckily I was right about Gavin Floyd and I still think Floyd is going to be the ace of the Sox staff. He's so f***ing good and I love his ability to go deep into games.
-
I don't mean to be mean, but obviously not enough, I don't even know who he was. RIP though.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) Per Phil Rogers Gavin Floyd and Alexie Ramirez+ probably Flowers for Doc Halladay and Vernon Wells at half price. .. ??? Losing Floyd would hurt, he is young cheap and talented, i guess adding Wells would spell our CF issue for the next 5 seasons but then who would play 3B? I would do this deal if: A) Toronto includes Rolen instread of Wells. B) Halladay immediately signs an extension say 14-15 mill for for 3 seasons till 2012. Then the Sox could move Beckham to SS and insert Poreda into the rotation. This deal would be nice because you still keep Beckham and Poreda, which still gives the Sox a good blend of youth and veterans. Talk about a scary lineup: Pods CF Beckham SS Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Rolen 3B Quentin LF Pierzynski C Getz 2B Buerhle, Halladay, Danks, Contreras, Poreda There is no f***ing way I trade Floyd for Halladay, none, end of story. Floyd is a cornerstone in that rotation and a f***ing stud.
-
I thought Bruno was funny but definately not for the faint of heart.
-
I would have traded BA for Francouer and taken a flier. At least Jeff has put up some semblance over major league numbers in his career. That said Jeff is probably a lost cause.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Above average left fielder? This was actually posted? I think LF is a garbage defensive position so I assumed a guy that is a good athlete with a strong arm would have been a good left fielder. In his defense he wasn't near as bad as some people would make you think. Offensively he's stunk though and the economy took a s***. I still say I looked at the deal as something to erupt a quiet fan base but even than it didn't work out. And in my defense I love wiry power hitters with speed.
