I'd have went with Santana and probably Webb but the only thing effecting Webb is the fact that he's been hurt this season. Santana is clearly #1 though. My eyes tell me it and the stats back it up too.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) It's way too early to say anything like that. Pena is only 26 and has put up solid numbers in a major league setting. As Goldstein mentioned in his chat with FS, there are scouts around the league that don't project Allen to be a major league hitter. I'm not saying he won't be successful, I am an Allen fan and hope he does great, but whether it is an indictment on the Sox minor system, or them being great at knowing who is going to make it or won't, there haven't been many prospects traded by the Sox to come back and bite them. If Pena can be a serviceable set up man for this team over the next 3-4 years, I'm fine with the trade. Allen is a valuable prospect and the price was steep. Pena is going to have to prove his worth, imo, because Allen had good trade value. I also know that there are scouts that like Allen a pretty good amount. I will agree that first baseman are harder to find than back of the pen relievers but Pena has to prove that he really is a back of the pen reliever. I highly doubt this is one of those trades where the Sox rob someone, but trades are supposed to be fair and if this turns into a fair trade than awesome.

QUOTE (Seymizzle @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Does anybody know the status of Jose Martinez? Didn't he break his leg or something along those lines? This is completely off the top of my head so I might be wrong. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) He and SF are making alot of people look stupid so far. Many scouts, analyst, and many people here (inc. myself) thought he was picked way too high/alot higher than he was projected to fall. SF scouts saw something in him to think otherwise, and so far.. he's showing what they saw. Wait, I don't think anyone thought Posey was going to fall to the Sox pick. I remember gushing over the thought of Posey falling, in fact, Posey "fell" to the Giants IIRC. Jason Castro was the catcher everyone was surprised went as high as he did (to the Astros). Castro has been exceptional in the minors thus far as well. -
Leesman has 4k's through 3 innings and just 1 hit. Mitchell is 1-2 with a 2 run double.
-
Quentin had a sac fly in his first ab against one of the Orioles top prospects Jake Arietta.
-
3-0 Barons early in the game. Danks is 1-2.
-
Leesman is pitching for Kanny.
-
Hudson is going up against one of the top prospects in all of baseball, Dbacks pitching prospect Jarod Parker. Should be an awesome game.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) yea, i didnt like it NEARLY as much as I loved HP5 (my fav of the HP movies). 6 tried to include the romance part way too much and didnt include nearly enough fighting. It just seemed herky-jerky and disjointed most of the time. Slughorn was annoying as hell in the beginning but got better as it went on. oh... and not NEARLY enough Tonks. I wasn't a big fan of the 6th one. I've enjoyed all of the HP movies but this one just didn't do it for me. I enjoyed it but it wasn't on par with the prior movies and seemed much more like a placeholder movie (to get them to the final two movies). Just not that much action, funny scenes, or cool effects and usually HP movies are loaded with all of them.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) I want nothing to do with Hamilton. I have no confidence in him to stay healthy for an entire year. That is going to be the big question. It might be the reason the Sox can afford him but it all depends on what they think of him medically. However his ability to be able to play all 3 OF positions with plus offensive abilities would be huge as I know for a fact the Sox are targeting OF bats.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) It's very strange from two months ago thinking we SHOULD be thinking of ways to jettison Dye/Konerko/Thome to now wondering if it wouldn't be a better to keep 2/3 of maybe all three of them around for 2010. Hopefully, the attendance will pick up and we'll stay in the race for the entire season so KW won't have any excuses about going after players like Hunter/Fukudome/Rowand and coming up short time after time. It's interesting to think how good we would have been the last two years with Hunter, but that contract as he ages the next three seasons scares me a little bit. Then again, I never thought he would even put together an MVP half offensively, let alone season, in his 30's. Konerko's not going anywhere. Dye probably won't either. I think the Sox might surprise and make a big run at Josh Hamilton or some other corner outfielder. They should, financially, be in a real good spot, despite recent quotes that say otherwise. I expect Thome to be gone. And by keeping Konerko and Dye, you still are enabling spots for your youngsters to develop as you've essentially added a guy like Hamilton and probably have the ability to put in a Danks in the OF and groom Flowers and get him ab's behind AJ and Paulie/Dye. Viciedo spends another year in the minors.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) Those pitches had a ton of movement (from that arm angle), but yeah, probably should have realized those pitches were way inside. Ya, great run on the pitches but they started off the plate. In the count Beckham was in, not good to swing at. But he's young and has raked with RISP in his early career.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) but have you noticed that even when danks looks like total s***, he can still manage to keep the team in the game? This isn't the first time. His last start in minny was awful yet he nutted up and held on to give them a chance. To be honest with you I tend to disagree with this. The reason I like Gavin more than Danks is that Gavin goes deeper into games more often and always seems to keep the team in games. I also think that is why Gavin will win more games (his ability to pitch deep). But Danks is improving consistently at getting deeper into games and he has definately battled through 5 today and will be done I'm sure.
