Trade Watch Rumor
Let's just make sure that the Sox get real quality this time. No more Samardzijas, Fraziers, Shields, etc. No more howling at the moon that average players are somehow great.

Trade Watch Rumor
Prospects and current major leaguers: sounds like an overpay already. Please don't trade the young pitchers that are throwing well for some 30+ year old. And if he's trading for veteran relievers, he needs to give what he gets when he does the trading: Rule 5 guys and stunted prospects.

Indians Playing WAY Over Their Heads!!
What about the .500 Tigers? This division is about to be a bear.

Padres Acquire Clevinger per Multiple Reports
Not in my opinion. The Sox have enough starters. Kopech + gets into Chris Sale's price territory. That would be ridiculous.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
In the Hahn and late-Williams eras, these types of trades for veterans have made the Sox decidedly worse, not better. Hopefully, they've improved with evaluation and negotiation.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
Fry has been effective in 7 of his 9 outings this year. Now they're using him sparingly, so something may be amiss. And his last 5 outings have been good.

The price tag on Ray certainly shouldn't be high. He's an average starter having an awful year. Taking salary should get that done.

yes and yes. And re #4, doing these types of things is how you shorten the window.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
That's kind of strange comment: "Should the team acquire a RF this winter." Okay, well, a lot of players would be blocked should the Sox acquire someone at the same position in the winter. And if Adolfo is looking good, let he be the RF; Sox history with these veteran signees isn't the best.

Yes Kopech and Dunning are ahead; I consider them prospects + as they've pitched in the majors. Still, that's your rotation, with Stiever #6 and it's a long way to #7. 6 is a minimum in a normal season.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
Nice. Thank goodness Engel was out there.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
The Sox are making the playoffs. You need 3 starters in the playoffs. The Sox have 3 good starters. The Sox do not need a starting pitcher. Stiever is the best fairly advanced pitching prospect we have. By the time the Sox need a starter, he should be ready. And if things go as they usually do on these types of trades, Stiever will be the better pitcher on day 1.

A lot of talk about the offense but.....
Cleveland just had another rookie starter debut last night: Tall skinny guy throwing nothing but darts.

What should the Sox do with James McCann?
Then obviously don't trade him if you get very little in return.
-
What should the Sox do with James McCann?
Who says it has to punt the season? What if they got a young starter him?
-
What should the Sox do with James McCann?
Trade him for a player who will make the team better and perhaps for longer.

Dunning Optioned; Delmonico recalled
Why is Delmonico even in the picture?

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
The Rays do fine with Engle types. Good defense helps. If he can get that OPS near .750, he can play a lot.
-
What should the Sox do with James McCann?
Trade him. Sell high. He won't be here next season. Yes it takes some guts to sell high.

Trade deadline looming
These type of trades have <20% quantitative success rate; probably <5% qualitatively. Pass

MLBExecBurner claims Sox "heavily evaluating pitching"...possible trade?
Young player for young player only. No average veterans, please.

Stone targets RR?
I'd say his answer was pretty direct; and I don't believe that Stone would leave himself hanging out to dry in front of his bosses.

Sox important team stat ranks 2020
You're generous: 8 of the 10 are below the mean, and the one that is #1 (BABIP - i.e. luck) suggests that things will get worse.

1 Tantalizing Trade Chip for all 30 teams
As soon as Myers gets here, he'd revert to his usual .750 OPS.

8-16 GT: Cardinals at Sox
Sox haven't been swept yet; let that continue, please.
