  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) Damn, our pitching turned to promising to s*** in 28 days. Our starting pitching has been razor thin since the first day of spring. We were counting on a rookie and a Coop reclamation project for 40% of the rotation. There was always a reasonable chance this could happen. I still like all the trades.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 05:55 PM) 3 walks for Hawkins, plus the homer, and the almost homer to dead center. His problem, like they said about Abreu, is his bat's too slow.
  3. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) All I know is I don't want Beckham playing over Semien or Gillaspie. Amen, although I guess it's worth a chance to dress him up for a trade.
  4. Webb is too good (relatively speaking) to waste closing. We need him in tighter situations
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) The world's greatest pitching depth isn't coming through It was pretty obvious in the spring we had zero depth. And it was also obvious that Downs had nothing left - he threw softballs in the spring, just like now. Veal is a better pitcher than Downs. Leesman should be sent to the pen in Charlotte; he clearly can't start but maybe he has enough command to get lefties out. Cabrera slaughtered him, but a lot of the hits were the result of placement and poor D.
  6. 3 hits and 2 runs on 3 doink ground balls.
  7. So I guess Leesman is our new Axe.
  8. If 2 of Flowers, Viciedo and Gillaspie are for real, we're gold. And then there's Alexei swinging at a ball way off the plat.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) He isnt exactly throwing fireballs out there It looks like he'll be okay if he can keep the ball away. But he hasn't gotten the calls out there - not that they were strikes, but pretty close.
  10. J Danks is barely batting .100.
  11. How could anyone possibly question 127 pitches in week 3 of the season. it's as ridiculous as questioning running out of pitchers in the 14th inning. Hire a professional manager, please, Rick/Kenny/Jerry.

Last I saw, Beckham was hitting
  13. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) Robin was not a good choice to begin with, he has shown no improvement in his OJT. The Sox made it worse by extending him. No way should you run out of pitchers in a 14 inning game. This sums it up nicely. I also think Cooper is at least 1/3 manager of this team, which is one reason the Sox hired a weak manager, instead of someone like Francona.
  14. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 16, 2014 -> 01:28 AM) It appears that Adam is back and will be a key component to our playoff push in 2014. I'm wondering if we should negotiate a new deal now before he posts a 35 HR / 100 RBI season and drives his asking rate through the roof. Yes we should negotiate a deal - deal him to the team that offers us the most young talent for him.
  15. He's made many- he's basically an amateur. Heck, tonight he left his starting pitcher in to give up 13 hits in less than 4 innings. Didn't even try to win the game.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) The problem he faces is simple numbers. In addition to everyone in Chicago, plus Beckham and Keppinger on the DL, plus Sanchez in AAA, he's got a lot of guys to fight past to get a look. I think we'll know a lot more in a few months, when sample sizes are more meaningful and we know more about how the infielders will fall out above him. Rememer too that Micah Johnson is knocking on the door behind him. Let him play some outfield then. Possible? We're short there, especially if we move De Aza like we should (or should have).
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 11:36 PM) No, I don't like drafting relievers in any round. I'd rather draft a fringe starter than a regular closer. Maybe that's too old school thinking, but I want my bullpen full of failed starters. No relief pitchers in the first several rounds.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) I'd rather have Hoffman at slot value or just under than Rodon at overslot $$. Maybe so. But I just look at his numbers and see 5Ks, 8 hits over 6 or 7 innings against decent (and some not so decent) C-USA teams. Elite starter? And I follow C-USA baseball. I guess I ought to read the scouting reports and see what the deal is.
  19. I would take Rodon over Hoffman, even though the NC State coaches overpitch Rodon and likely will continue to do so. Hoffman's numbers just don't do it for me; I know there is more there but I still don't get it. I saw him pitch once - not dominating at all.
  20. GreenSox replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 07:13 PM) Who should it be? Lindstrom. As shaky as he is. Cleto is our best bullpen pitcher (or at least pitching the best) but we can use him in more leveraged situations, for more than 1 inning, etc.
  21. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Who can we trade to get some bullpen help and while we are at it, we need another starter, Paulino is horrible. I'm thinking maybe we could get something for Beckham when he's healthy, I think Semien can handle second base. No Bad use of resources.
  22. The only dead weight, frankly, is Konerko. Some of the other guys (pitchers) are bad, but they are used and they play. Ventura has to force things to use Konerko, like he did today
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Paulino. It's time to take him out of the roation. No idea what YOU PEOPLE saw in him. Wasn't particularly good before, injured, and certainly not good now. Nieto is why you can have A level players on the roster. Scott Downs is 39. He's done, apparently. There's more but let's start with these three, particularly Paulino. It's Rienzo time. Nieto's on here because we don't want to lose him. He's a backup catcher anyway. Downs was a bad signing.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 08:00 AM) I think that got lost a bit in translation, with what Blake was trying to say. Guerra is not on the 40 man roster. He can be added, but I think Blake was trying to point out that if there are 40 guys on the 40, then someone has to come off and clear waivers to stay in the org. But, the 40 is at 39 right now. And Avisail will likely be transferred to the 60-day, which will drop it one more to 38. So it isn't an issue at present. I didn't understand how we were able to assign him without having to clear waivers.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) The Sox should take whoever they feel is the best player available regardless of position. Major league needs should never be a factor in the MLB draft. Thank you.
