  1. Think he's also owed $5 mill for next season. someone will take a shot with Moncada, even if he's still in rehab; Sox will probably have to pay at least 2/3.
  2. Norby, Beavers...these guys aren't top 100 (now I'm just using MLB rankings because it's so convenient to looking things up). I'll go at it another way, if Vaughn is worth a 50-100 player, Fedde is worth a top 30 plus a 50-100.
  3. Of course he should only want trades in which the Sox "win." Of course, in my mind, winning a trade doesn't require the other team to lose the trade. So far, the Cease trade is win-win. Hahn's 2 biggest screwups (Tatis, Semien et al) were each not only lose/win, but we had to chance to get a win on our side no matter what happened. As long as they are well-intended, that's what matters. I don't consider the Sale trade a "lose" for the Sox because we got fair value (light, perhaps, in secondary pieces) in return; it just didn't work out. We win if we get proper value for the player traded.
  4. Well, yea, Melton is a top 100 prospect. Of course we'll take that deal. But as of now, we appear to be scuffling to get a top 100 for Fedde, who, unlike Vaughn, is a really good player.
  5. Griffin and Jac each have special tools. But they also each requiring fixing. Griffin's swing needs to be fixed, and Jac swings at too many outside of the strike zone. When have the Sox ever successfully fixed a swing? It's certainly plausible that Jac's chasing is a result of being a supreme college hitter and the coach telling him to swing at anything close because it's worth the risk. On the other hand, the Sox have not exactly been known to "Fix" players that chase. Arguably, they have embraced free-swinging since Williams took over. Heck Ozzie embraced hacking and lunging "aggressive hitting" (not that Jac hacks and lunges). But a new FO so maybe it will be different. As for underslot in the first round, as weak as this draft is, it seems like a reasonable idea just to play it straight and just use the picks normally
  6. or pitching, except for Crochet. And that was luck because they drafted him to rush into the 2020 bullpen and squandered 67% of his service time. They should get credit for developing Canon - so far so good, but we'll see how it goes. That 2020 draft was just arrogance from the FO, that as grossly unearned: Crochet for the pen (worked out great in the end) and then punt 3 rounds to draft 1 high school pitcher. I guess round 5 was only semi-punted, but it was semi-punted for, surprise, surprise a relief pitcher. Punting for high school pitchers hasn't been particularly bountiful.
  7. If Fedde's 15 and Kopech is 19, it's hard to see how it's Fedde that's too high. Tigers would be crazy to trade Skubal. They're going to win 75-80 games this season and could easily contend next season.
  8. Can someone give Pedro a lesson non the concept of pinch hitting. The only pinch hitters he used was for one of our better hitters. Julks sits again - he's still better than the bottom of this order. Soroka is 0-10; he's been bad, but he doesn't deserve that.
  9. Fedde should have a significantly higher value than Eflin.
  10. Leasure was getting killed in AAA. Yet here he is, 2nd game in a row with a lead on the line late in the game.
  11. 2 of their 5-10s, and the price is rising each day.
  12. I agree and he spent in free agency last time. JR’s problem is that he is overly loyal to non-performers.
  13. I said, based on the way he has played as a pro. Is lack of power an aspect?
  14. Based on his first year as a pro, were they wrong?
  15. I think he’s fine when speaking in his regular voice. But as soon as he inflects his voice, he sounds like a 12 year old cartoon character: “Hey Scooby.”
  16. The Y2Jimmy 5 Round Mock, per Law and Kiley Sox are rarely aligned with Law or other public rankings. But Kiley would probably like the Sox' draft. But I would think it gives an indication of whether you have to pay guys overslot or not. 1 (5). Griffin #10, #7 2 (43). Bateman #51, #62 2b (68) Oakie #97, #44 3 (78) Messina UR, #56 4 (107) Foley UR, #101 5 (140) Hurd UR, #142
  17. Swing-fixing is right in the White Sox wheelhouse!
  18. Well, one could reasonably ask Getzwhy in the world they waited to the end of the season to fire the obvious incompetent. I’ve believed all along that they’re not gonna fire him until season’s end. But my fear is that they actually don’t think he is an idiot and that they move him upstairs. He’s just tanking this team. Wrong decision after wrong decision.
  19. The refusal to fire Grifol really just send a message to the the fans and the team that they just don’t care. The idea that “it’s not Grifol’s fault that the team is bad” just doesn’t get it.
  20. Oh I’m sure you’re right about that. But it’s stupid and counterproductive to keep playing him like they do.
  21. Well, he got two hits in the last game that he started. And in the realm of Benintendi and sheets as the alternatives, yeah, he deserves to start.
  22. I thought it might be to let Julks start a game for the first time in over a week.
  23. They can have Sheets, Eloy and Benintendi; we'll take a bag of balls to be named later.
  24. I take it that the OF from A&M is a grade below the the top 4 college hitters?
  25. This sounds like the most logical explanation. There's no reason to trade him anyway; won't get much and it will cost more to sign someone for next season.
