Looking at the main pic on MLB.com, did Gload get thrown out at home? Again? How many runs have we lost because of Joey's great "aggressiveness"?
-
f***ing pathetic effort all around. You have a lead going into the 8th inning against the Devil Rays, you HAVE to finish off that game. You have to. Dionner (sp?) f***ing Navarro? Are you kidding me? Sox hitters in the ninth and tenth had three times where we got ahead in the count. Lugo fell behind Pierzynski 3-0. McClung -- of the 110 hits in 90 IP ilk, not to mention a s***load of walks -- falls behind Mackowiak 3-0 and Podsednik 2-0. How many hits? None. McClung is horses***, and he mows us down 1-2-3, not even letting our MVP get a chance to swing the bat. This is one terrible loss.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Getz has a .649 OPS down at B-Ham (unless BA's stats are just screwing me here). And considering he has a 50/44 BB/K ratio, and he's hitting down at a terrible hitting environment, I don't think it looks THAT bad. Ryan Sweeney only had a .728 OPS in his 1st full season down at B-Ham. For most hitters, I'd buy the "playing in Birmy" excuse, but not for Getz. He's not Josh Fields. I'd guess that he's a guy who's not going to hit a lot of flyballs that would normally go out, but instead die in the air. Jerry Owens and Ryan Sweeney both showed last year that, with more room in the OF, slap hitters can be pretty effective in that park. I still see Getz as, at best, a major league backup. Even then, Pedro Lopez is having a better year and is a full year younger than Getz.

http://www.maurybrown.com/?p=333 If true, tough luck for Oakland, Washington, Texas, and San Fran, among others...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I see Ryan is in CF.... How has he looked? Have you seen him in CF? IIRC, somebody at SouthSideSox (Bull Pain) has seen Sweeney CF multiple times. I think I remember him saying that he's pretty much an average defensive CFer; not Mackowiak bad, but nothing to write home about either.

So, you guys would pretty much recommend skipping the lectures where you could pretty much get the info from reading the books or from internet notes? I had two classes today. One was my English class. Mainly, my teacher -- seemed like a real cool guy -- said that a lot of the writings would be done in class. Plus, it's an 11:00 class, so its not like one of those pain-in-the-ass classes where I have to wake up real early. The other was my history class. This one seemed like a class I could miss a lot more, but unfortunately the professor said that you can only miss a maximum of six classes per semester. Oh well, I'll be sure to use 'em all, I guess...

I'm doing okay so far in my first week. I've been here five days or so. Mainly, I like the freedom. I can come "home" at 2:30 and not hear a word about it or explain where I was to anybody. I'm also liking my class schedule. Mondays, I'm pretty much in class from ten-to-noon, and I'm done. That's my Friday, too, more or less. Tuesdays and Thursdays suck for me, but even then, it's just three classes -- one of which, my 8 AM one, doesn't even require mandatory attendence (or, that's what I was told -- that I could still get an 'A' just by reading the book). What sucks so far? Small dorms at McCormick here at Marquette. Pretty much all the dorms are bigger than this place. The food in this specific dorm ain't special, either; the food at the other places (dorms) are much better. And I haven't done laundry yet, although I'll take a guess and say that that'll be a pain in the ass (I'm on floor nine, and the laundromat is in the basement). The lack of a football team is something I'll have to adjust to, but it's not terrible. I can still hold my allegiance to the Northwestern football team, and switch over once basketball season starts. Overall, I'm having a good time so far, and I'm looking forward to the year.

Can someone find me a list of players who have put together hit streaks of thirty or better? Willy Taveras just got to #30. Is he the worst player ever to have a hit streak of hit streak of 30 or better? I mean, it's pretty pathetic -- even with thirty straight games with hits, the guy is still only putting up a line of .284/.335/.345. Freakin' Scott Podsednik is doing better then that. I still can't believe some people were willing to trade Jose Contreras for a package centered around him and Brad Lidge...

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Geez, it takes about 5 minutes for a White Sox loser thread to get to about 10 pages. Where the hell is everybody? This was the biggest win of the season. We could not get swept by these clowns again. Gutsy performance by Mark Buehrle today. And who was that guy out there for the Sox today? The white dude who wears #22? I didn't recognize him at all. Well, for me personally (and you know I'm more optimist than pessimist), last night took a lot out of my collective 'sails'. Jermaine's homer was probably highest emotional moment of the year, and to see them end up losing the game was really a huge downer. Great win today, Buehrle with a big outing. Nice to see Pods finally look like a baseball player. But the Twins took the two one run games, and more importantly, they leave Chicago with the WildCard lead. Looking at the big picture, it's dissappointing to lose two of three to Minny. But I'll digress, and say that the Sox can't lose more than two games this week. Kazmir out for TB, Sweeney out for KC, there are no excuses for not winning both of these series'.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 05:10 AM) Sweeney has a .804 OPS overall. Since the ASB however, he has splits of .318/.393/.578, an OPS of .971. Is that OPS number wrong? I know that's what MiLB.com says, but how is that possible, considering Sweeney hasn't had an OPS over .900 in one single month? Or am I making some really dumb math mistake?

So, how many good pitches did Tadahito have to hit in that AB? The first down, right down the middle for strike one. He hung another one and fouled it off. The pitch that Iguchi grounded into a DP on wasn't a particularly great pitch, either. So depressing.
-
How the f*** does Willie f***ing Eyre get away with all of these s***ty ass, right down the middle pitches? Meanwhile, Nick f***ing Punto hits a letter high 97 MPH fastball for a basehit. Honestly, what the f***.
-
It's so frigging stupid. It feels like against Willie Eyre, I have no confidence to come back. Against Matt Thorton, I feel like the Twins have all the chance in the world to score a run. Why do I feel this way?
-
Ugh, Gload has had a great approach tonight, but right there... gotta take a pitch.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) Juan Uribe's play is huge now, f*** you very much Uribe. f*** you very much Mr. Elite. f*** you all the way to hell. Would you STFU? Really, you're the biggest killjoy in this thread, and that's saying a lot.

MVP! MVP!

Wow...

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) No reason to say this right now. This type of post is what pisses some people off at you. ^^^^

Pinch hit AJ? Thome?
-
Damnit... that pitch was right there...
-
Actually, I think I like Gload against Reyes rather than Thome. I can see Gload poking one a Reyes slider into LF.
-
Thome time?

Oh hey, Neal Cotts!
