  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) I'm not counting his swinging bunt as a hit. I mean its a hit Sorry I couldn't resist. But I know in general what you mean, but Dye had alot of infield hits last year when he started off really slow for us and had alot of Dye hating threads. I think he and BA will a hit like that over a solid line drive right at someone anyday of the week to help them. But all in all, I agree with ya.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Anderson had a solid game, but he had 1 hit. Jas, he had 2 hits.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) They drank before... during... and after games... yet could still produce. That just reminds me... (and he was a serious womanizer..) I LOVE Babe Ruth. (not the chocolate bar the person )
  4. Man I tell ya what looking at the M's rotation they have REALLY improved from last year. If Pineiro has a good season, (starting off good right now) then they can be really a torn on the side in the AL West this year. Moyer-Pineiro-Hernandez-Washburn-Meche is really solid. Too bad their offense isn't that good especially Ichiro (of all people) hitting well below his usual self. (even though he has heated up now the last 5 games.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) It's still going to be hard to get African Americans to play baseball imo. I also agree that it's silly to worry about. Maybe I should have continued playing. Probably would have gotten drafted and represented fo my brothas! But then again... I would have been like Jeter, Tiger Woods, etc.. just a mixed breed.. (not 100% nothin)
  6. Sox try their luck out West
  7. Only downside was Thome had an "off" day. Other than that, nice game all around. I'm glad BA is looking more comfortable at the plate. COUNT!!!!
  8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ same.
  9. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) They don't seem like a school that would be a baseball type. Suprising to me, a suburbanite though. Considering we have so many damn races in that school, plus every particular person liking other stuff, and being it's a public school.. I wouldn't say surprising. But I know where your comming from on this. Other than this year, we have had a damn solid baseball team, and damn outstanding bastketball team, and an average football team (just listing the 3 main sports not counting our very solid soccer team etc..)
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) By the way, for Reading, Haigwood has 13 walks in 14 innings. 1-1, 3.07. WHIP of nearly 2. Gio on the other hand.... as good as he was here. I didn't mind losing Haigwood, but I really liked Gio as a spect here. Ah well. We can re-tool alittle on the draft comming up this year.
  11. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) Nice avatar You know its ironic, but I was seriously thinking of putting that on my avatar.. But I'll choose Bone over anything/one.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) So much for my sleeper pick 2 years back ey SoxAce? I saw this and automatically thought "Andrew will be crushed"
  13. Ya, I was gonna let someone else start this thread cause I didn't feel like I was the right man to do it. Happy 23rd Jas! (ya ol' timer)
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) That team is horrible. They lost to f***ign Westinghouse. WESTINGHOUSE! The guy who came in for the starting pitcher was pretty good. He had some good stuff and kept our batters of balance. I think we still scored lik 5 off him in 2 innings...and we only played 5. No wonder when I asked about thier team half of my friends never showed up.. Looks like Washington won't even sniff the playoffs this year. These bums are gonna break our streak we had for the most consecutive playoffs we've been in.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Brooks beat Washington today 17-1. I went 1-4 with 2 RBI. Yea when I heard that I was like... DAMN!! I guess their pitching wasn't the same as last year. Dafnis (one of the studs on our team) shut you guys out twice last year I think in one of them he had a no-hitter till like the 6th but I believe he got like 15K's and 2BB with only 3-5 hits from your school. If only he took baseball more seriously (could hit/pitch) wasn't so lazy, and wasn't a cub fan (had to put that in there) I think he probably would have had the best potential to succeed in college get drafted pretty high, and probably make it (or sniffed) the bigs. Good talent wasted but I still know two guys who can do the things I just listed..
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Jon Garland. ^^^^^^^ Great example.
  17. I swear it seems like he is one of those guys who ya think was around forever, and yet is still really young. Kinda like Guzman when he was with the Twins.
  18. QUOTE(Sam @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Where do you/did you go? I went to Bishop Noll first till I was a soph., then went to Washington H.S. That's where we played Carmel and other good teams.
  19. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) I'm pretty psyched (even more than usual) about the draft this year since I have a friend who will probably be drafted, even though no matter what, he's going to college. That's crazy cuz I mentioned a post here a while ago a couple of buddies of mine are also probably gonna get drafted this year. Same thing though, I believe one is in college right now and the other is undecided yet. One is a pitcher and one is a hitter. Right now, I'm still trying to contact them since I'm not in college yet. Im gonna see if I can find a friends (the college one) stats on his school's website.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) Well I said last night that inconclusive meant at least 2 months, so 8 to 12 weeks means at least 3 months. So now the Cubs lineup relies on the pretty fragile himself Aramis Ramirez, and a pitching staff full of China Dolls. Good luck! When I came home from work today, turned on the T.V., and heard about this, I immediately shut on my computer, went to soxtalk, and now giving you your props. You really called that from yesterday. It was a strange coincidence cuz you said if the cubs won, Lee's injured. Well... what do ya know... Nice call.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) MVP= Steve Nash (the Suns were top 3 in the western conference all season without that Amare guy. Nash is clearly the main reason). Now I wouldn't say the "main" reason. I'm still pondering over him or Kobe Bryant. Yes I keep hearing about not having Amare. That's a real good excuse, but he did have Marion who is a really, really good player. Who the hell did Kobe have? He single handedly took his team to the playoffs. The only player who is a "cute" player is Lamar Odom and he's only stepped up his game this past week. I'm not saying Kobe is my pick, but I wouldn't say Nash is the clear favorite right now either even though Nash is very, very deserving. I just think I can really see The Lakers giving a good series in the playoffs, maybe even pulling the upset since they are the # 7th seed now I'd also like Billups to win it too, but I think they are gonna overlook him. It's a shame too.
  22. I just had to get this out... This is the first time that we've been in first place permanitally!! (no ties or anything) We are now 1 game ahead of the Tribe and I hope the sox never look back again this season.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) You can thank Jim Thome for that. I have never seen a team who were now as patient in at-bats as the sox are cause of one player they've brought in. It is still early in the season, but it's nice to see these guys get good at-bats and be patient at the plate this season. Thome- 18/6 BB:K ratio (simply outstanding) Dye- 10/8 Konerko- 7/6 Uribe- 4/5 Iguchi- 6/11 AJ- 2/6 Pods- 3/5 Crede- 3/2 (to me he has made more contact and has a better eye so far this year, than I've ever seen him have.) BA- 4/17 (He's K'd an awful lot of course but he has gotten as many walks (more) as some of the players listed.) Hell I'll even say the bench players.. Mack- 3/8 Widger- 3/1 Cintron- 1/4 Gload 1/0 Pablo 0/2 (the only player who hasn't reached a base on BB.) It's just really nice to see regardless if it's only April 20th.
  24. So if we win tomorrow, are we still the 7th seed or do we move up to 6th? Cause we were 2-2 against Indiana in the season. I'd rather play NJ than Mia.
