    He is actually the perfect "rotating DH" that Ozzie was preaching for. Might not be great defensively, but can play there (both LF and RF) in a pinch, and is a much better hitter than Kotsay/Jones. Hopefully KW can find a much better overall RF next season.. or find a CF and stick Rios and his still stellar D in RF.
  2. I'll say this about the Bears. Mike Martz in one game is 100000000000X better than Ron Turner. Not predictable in his play calls, utilizes Cutler (and his weapons) much better, and has a much better feel overall in a game. Nice to see the Bears actually have a legitimate offensive coordinator.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) Not picking on you J4L, but once in a while people post similar things... and it drives me crazy... I'm going to use your post as an example to make a point. If all the Sox minor league teams finished in last place, no doubt people would comment on it as validation for their impression that our system sucks. But if a team plays well enough to make the playoffs, it's not worth commenting on? Except to announce your lack of interest as a post in the minor league forum... and question why people are interested??? The point of a forum is that it provides a place for people who ARE interested in a subject to talk about it, isn't it? So why show up just to piss in the pool and call the swimmers stupid? Plus... I would think that if you are interested in player development, that you would find this thread interesting. Successful MLB player development systems typically have minor league teams in the playoffs on a regular basis. Not only is their an obvious correlation between good players and good teams... Player development includes teaching people how to win under playoff pressure too. Outstanding post. Backs up alot of us minor league followers quite well. I've followed since I started posting here in 04. I've played with (or against) or befriended some guys in the minors in other teams' affiliates (and one in ours currently) and I've watched alot of prospects since college. (some who I've seen or heard about in high school) I care alot about how these guys do, and hell they are in the playoffs. I don't care in your in high school, college, rookie ball or in the MLB, that is always very cool to be apart of and win for your team and yourself.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Had Lovie Smith just elected to kick the FG when we were on the 1, that wouldn't have even been an issue. The funny thing is... people usually rip Lovie for not having any balls and always kicking FG when were down on the one/end zone, yet most of the time... that decision he should not be faulted on (come on your on the freaking one yard line). However, Stafford was not in the game, Detroit could not move the ball to get a first down since Stafford was in, and it was still about 6 minutes left in the game. I agree with nitetrain, I agree with his choice all in all and the Bears still won. If the Bears actually remembered Calvin Johnson needs triple coverage, maybe there wouldn't even be a cause for such a cheap win.
  5. That is one of the cheapest wins Ive ever seen. Calvin Johnson is a beast, though I'm sure we all know that.
  6. Bears went 1-3 in the 85' pre-season. They went 0-4 in the 2010 pre-season. Obviously that means we will be going 16-0.
  7. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Game 2 GF leading 6-1 late in the game. They won 6-2.

    QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Been dating two girls since June. Definitely playing with fire. As one is a latina and you know their families run about, I don't know, 100 deep. So if I ever disappear for a while, it's probably because some essay put a cap in my ass. See this is why your one of my favorite posters on this board. :lolhitting
  10. Happy B-Day. Andy bring your black ass (Cartman reference) to Chicago, we gotta get smashed bro.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Boo Mark Kotsay and Boo no Morel. Ya I was hoping Ozzie would give the kid another day to play, since he was solid last night.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Westbrook is the most athletic guard on the planet right now. Rose is the better athlete as far as PGs. But Westbrook has the better tools (vision, passing, awareness) for the PG position.
  13. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Cant believe you are still patting yourself on the back over something most thought was going to happen. I still can't believe it's getting to you. Makes me proud of NSS though for not caring anymore. (And BTW, show me those post besides me and another poster who had W-S as our best affiliate this season when most were picking the Knights, I'm still waiting)
  14. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 03:19 AM) Name a prospect that has come back to bite them in the ass. I'm waiting. You seriously misunderstood what J4L was saying. And I'll add to Real's Gio and say Chris Young this year hasn't been too bad (.266/.345/.467/.812, 20/20 player, 4.4 WAR, 5.9 UZR) and this is comming from someone who was not a fan of Young as a prospect when he was here.
  15. This question reminds me what Ranger fans/org wanted McCarthy to do. (to throw harder, avoid more injury risk) The kid then adds about 10-15 pounds of muscle in the off-season.. and is now even more injury prone than he was before (I believe he had surgery on his shoulder a while back). Adding bulk doesn't add velocity. Hell the two players you named are actually relatively skinny guys. (Pedro Martinez was a tiny f***er as well) Thats like saying Sabathia/Broxton should lose weight so maybe they can touch 100+ instead of 95+. It's pure god given talent. Either you have it, or you don't. There were guys in high school I played with that threw much harder than I did and they were very thin guys. There was also a fat guy who touched the mid/high 80s on my team as well. I'm sure there are many guys in the minors now that wished they could hit at least the mid 90s. (especially if their other stuff/repertoire is already fringe or average) Chris Sale is obviously very fortunate he has an arm like that. (how fortunate with his delivery though.. we'll see in time)
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) And our GM is Kenny Williams. They'll both be with other organizations this time next year. Haha.. sometimes I think you keep it TOO real for this site.
  17. And my Cinderella pick continues to thrive. They won again tonight. Have yourself a night Jon Gilmore.
  18. Thank you Yuniesky Betancourt.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Pierre LF Ramirez SS Rios CF Konerko 1B Manny DH Pierzynski C Quentin RF Beckham 2B Morel 3B Buehrle P Wow.. Pretty happy I'll get to see him tonight. (missed his debut) Haven't seen him hit since college.

    Not a Chris Brown fan really, but has anyone heard his new stuff/mix tapes? Not bad at all to be honest.

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) Sure. Hey don't believe me. Most of the older posters here can back me up. They all know of the name "Dougly."

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) Chastity isn't a lifestyle or a choice, Ace. Don't judge me....

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) It doesn't get scary until 25, then you realize that next is 26, then 27 and so on. Why do you have a picture of yourself when you were 13 on your profile? That ugly sack of crap is NOT me. It's actually a guy (friend) who used to post here before he got banned. I have his pic up in memory.
