QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) That's absolutely true and those who say otherwise are absolutely wrong. I've seen gang 1st hand that hasn't been reported on the news. And I have never, EVER heard the terms Latin Kings or GD's or anything of the sort on the news. It's easy for people to say that crime isn't an issue when they've never been jumped for no reason or they've never had their garage broken in to multiple times or they've never had cops drive around their neighborhood with spotlights between houses and in yards while helicopters are flying overhead or they don't hear gunshots once a week. Agreed 100% Slav, and you know damn well I've seen my share of s***. (and I'd bet millions much worse) I'll say this though.. since I'm not sure how often you go back to the hood, it is much worse in places like Hegewish or by Calumet than it is on the south east side now-a-days... though I don't live out there either cept when visiting couple times a month to crash.. only hearing it from people still living there.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) If you really are reading everything I post, then you would see I put Morel and Hudson on the same level of "keep them if you can". Obviously since Hudson is the one everyone covets, then the next best thing would be to protect Morel if you can. I don't even consider Morel our 3rd best prospect (maybe not even top 5 though I'm different when I count high upside guys like Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. even injured and I didn't even mention Sale) in our entire weak system. He isn't the "next best thing." Solid prospect, but not a blue chip (or even a red chip). Good news for you is I highly doubt the sox could trade a guy with a torn labrum unless said team really likes the prospect overall to off-set that injury. It's not like they could hide it/see it comming. (ala Sirodka, Garcia, etc..)

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) If Hudson is involved might mean LaRoche could be coming as well. That is the only reason why I could stomach the deal a bit more... and IMO makes more sense.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) JReed, do you really want AJP to lose his starting job to Castro??? Are we really having this discussion after a 2 homer game versus the M's? You could hit a homer vs. the Ms. Castro is doing very very well in his backup role. AJ is AJ. He is part of the heart and soul of this team. You don't believe that or do you? Now your putting words I've never said into your mouth. You discussed chemistry, I called you out on that and you mentioned A.J. (for whatever reason) which I said we won with Castro as well. My point is don't act like A.J. (who has been terrible offensively this season) is the reason why the sox are doing well. Castro nor anyone else individually is the reason either. The sox are winning because our pitching as a whole has been fantastic and we are playing great defensively. (especially Alexei)
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) And we are winning with AJP; exactly my point. We won with Castro as well, so no it isn't. The sox are winning because of their pitching. Not because of an individual. It doesn't matter what fingers AJ or Castro puts down. If they are not executing (or missing with) those pitches, the sox don't win.

I'll say this.. Don Cooper LOVES Edwin Jackson. Not like... Loves the guy. Maybe he sees something he wants to tweak. And looking at that 149 pitch no-hitter Kal posted... ya... not good. I'm Huddy's biggest fan and would hate to see him go in any case.. but def. not for Jackson.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) Ya, because I clearly think that is a feasible possibility. Sorry, I've seen enough ridiculous proposals from posters who weren't kidding, I almost rule out the sarcastic ones.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:25 AM) Hudson/Viciedo/Flowers/Morel for Jackson/Upton. Let's do it. Let's not get carried away.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) There are things about baseball that include chemistry. This team has it. It would be insane to "demote" him. Just insane to team chemistry/unity. Your like the 4th or 5th poster in the last 6 years that has said something about this. And I tell everyone of them to read my Don Cooper quote on top of my sig... something he said 6 years ago that I've left on out of all the quotes I've had in the past. Usually that does the trick, but your alittle more stubborn than the other posters in the past. Even Ozzie himself said something eerily similar to that quote just two or three days ago.

I'm gonna say 90% of soxtalk posters will approve this thread.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Official deal: Capps/500k cash for Ramos and Joe Testa BWHAHAHAHA!!!

QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Berkman since June 1st .259/.385/.465 .850 OPS and he even has 3 SB over that stretch, for July hes batting .233/.404/.521 .925 OPS. In June he was sporting an above average wOBA of .357 for July .392 inching closer to his career mark of .405. Lance is also holding it down with the glove 2.7 UZR. for some perspective Konerko has been a -6.8 UZR at 1B. And you know damn well Konerko is still going to be the 1B if the sox get Berkman regardless if he's better defensively.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) Another sniper for the Heat? Miller, Jones and now House. Wow. That team is going to be unguardable. LeBron might actually have a triple-double season. Incredible to think about.

Randall Thorpe.. LOVE that kid's plate discipline. Heidenreich with a fantastic July.

Jersey Shore premier was on tonight. Looked pretty decent. Don't know if they will top the first season, but it looks promising.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) From the team's twitter feed: http://twitter.com/OFFICIAL_TIGERS/status/19774611329 Tigers acquire Jhonny Peralta from Indians for minor league pitcher Giovanni Soto. #mlb Well, we're f***ed. WHAT... WHA??!?! (and yes I know their first names are spelled differently)

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Note to self: Must not get drawn into another Shipps penis thread. I was thinking Jason hacked into shipps account and made alittle revenge penis thread.

Welcome Jackie! Always good to have another ST poster with great/inside information to share. We've now had sox prospects, girlfriends/wives/moms of sox prospects, and MLB players (though now alot on other teams) post here and possible FO guys.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) The Twins lineup is currently 5th in the AL in runs. The Sox are 8th and probably would be 7th if the Angels hadn't played 4 more games than us. They're a good lineup, but they're by no means putting up an awe-inspiring season like I thought they could. There are doing this with Morneau on the DL mostly this month, Hudson missing time on the DL, Punto/Hardy's .366 OBP vs lefties on the DL at one time, and about a 40% Joe Mauer since May. Their line-up is legit. Young is having an incredible year, and I don't expect that to last, but Kubel and Span are having down years for their perspectives. They need a 3B though.. but the way Valencia is hitting, they might be even more dangerous and don't need to trade to get one. Their pitching is what I never would have thought would be this good. (though I told wite a while back Liriano was going to be very good or "back" this year) Thank god Joe Nathan is gone for the season. Rauch would have made for an excellent set-up man (or a solid MR in the 7th inning to turn to Guerrier).

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Oh yeah, looks like Ben Sheets is out for the season due to flexor tendon surgery. From Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle: Is that potential career ending? That is his second one.
