  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Well, a little birdie yesterday told me that changes are coming tomorrow night/Wednesday morning. Beckham being demoted looks like a possibility. I'm probably gonna need tickets to the Knights games if that is the case. They will be fielding a way more exciting team. Beckham is one of the few guys I still like watching on this boring team, and still think it would be a mistake demoting him. Hell prior to yesterday, he had a 3 game hit streak (only a hit a game, but it was progress on what he has been doing). He is a confident guy though, so I would think this won't affect his mentality like alot of young guys which tends to be the case of a demotion and they really take it pretty hard... and never come back.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) He played 3B all through the minors until he reached the majors last year and is playing 3B in AAA again this season. He played 1B because Young had moved the third. If you bring him in to play 1B you are blocking Viciendo with a player that is just as bad as Fields at hitting the baseball. He has no value to this team at 1B. No. When he was drafted, he played LF and 1B sparingly, then got moved to 3B for the next two seasons cause of his power potential. Texas realized he was a butcher down there, so they moved him back to 1B. Then Smoak was drafted, and they loved him at 1B so they tried to move Davis back to 3B cause of Blalock's struggles and his power/bat, only to have that flop again, so now he is basically blocked. For the record I'm not a Davis fan (I prefer Salty over him if given the choice) but I would still take him out of spite. I would think though that the sox would do it for a pitcher at a lower level, and hopefully net a sleeper prospect like a Miguel Velazquez or if you get really lucky... Richie Alvarez.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 17, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Raw, salted testicles, please. Would you like a taste of my salty chocolate balls?
  4. You don't need an ISO guy like Johnson to pair with LeBron or Rose, or even just Rose. unless your getting Troy Murphy at PF or Lee, you need a sniper who can stretch the floor for a SG. I like Johnson, but I don't feel he is a good fit for us unless were getting a Dirk Nowitski-like shooter at PF.
  5. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I dont get the love with Chris Davis, he is like a lot of prospects the Sox have had, big power, terrible contact, shady defense at 3B. He is a 1B.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) Oh. Another master Xs and Os guy. But he never DH'd Vizquel. So in essence, the crack-head was alittle smarter in that regard.
  7. You do not trade guys like Floyd, Danks etc.. unless you were really talking firesale. That is why I keep suggesting trading some of these veterans (A.J., Pierre, Konerko, etc..), while bringing up some of the younger guys (Flowers, Hudson, etc..) and still trying to make a run at this thing/turn it around with the core guys (Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Beckham, Rios & Buehrle [though I'm torn on them] Santos, etc..).
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) It was a rhetorical question. I was trying to be an ass Mr. Sqwert.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Why the heck would he bat 2nd? If you insist on putting him in your lineup then bury him at the bottom. Why are you asking me? If I had a choice, he wouldn't even see my lineup.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Vizquel... whatever, i give up, Ozzie. Hey.. at least he is playing the field! Ozzie wasn't kidding on giving him alot of at-bats this season.
  11. Quentin is back at DH.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 17, 2010 -> 07:21 AM) I rarely cook, but when I do I am actually quite good. It's actually a skill that is pretty nice to have. Oh believe me.. I wish I did, but I feel alot better that most men I know can't cook or are merely average cookers. We make fun of our friend, but when that guy cooks.. well.. lets just say he can be pretty popular with the ladies.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) I loves me some cashews. This, though I'm not as addicted to them as my brother or grandmother.
  14. The Stros had Bagwell and Ensberg basically destroy the ball that year, not to mention had a catcher put up a .351 OBP and having a couple of career years (and this was when Biggio was declining) and a great bench. Add to the fact that Clemens, Oswalt and Pettitte (Becke was solid and Rodriguez was serviceable and pretty much their entire bullpen) were amazing that year, they previously fired their manager prior to last season and added Garner, a bit better defensively, the National League effect and the fact they won the Wild Card (people always seem to think they won the division that year, and the W.C. is NOT comming out of the AL Central) pretty much ends the comparison.
  15. I had to see my mother at the hospital, so I missed all the games in each sport today (inc. this one) but did catch the last minute and glad Niemi was stellar.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Oh please, he made this team too damn soft during his time with the Sox. He was a teddy bear.. what did you expect? Guys like Cabrera and Getz can't talk ya know.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 16, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Gilmore with his first home run on the year! Stud. Haha.. glad I wasn't the only one who got a chuckle seeing that one on the box score. Shoemaker is on fire.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Somewhere in New York right now, Jim Thome is laughing. He is too classy to laugh. He is though probably shaking his head cause he knew he could help this team.
  19. I still don't like Floyd pitching behind Peavy at all. I personally think he and Danks should be flip-flopped.

QUOTE (Felix @ May 16, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) is there anything better than free bewer? Free va-jay jay is the only thing I can come up with that is as close.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) Is Beckham coming around slowly I hope? Well.. he has a 3 game hit streak. Baby steps... QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 02:14 AM) I'm assuming this is why Rongey has been nowhere to be found. He isn't posting much at WSI either. Though maybe he doesn't want to hear certain posters, who so far, have been right on about their observations about this team since the off-season here and not gloat in front of his face about it.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Cooked my first ever meal on my own grill tonight. Just wanted to say that. As a man who sucks at cooking and beyond most men everywhere (minus the pansies...er...cookers though I'm making fun of one of my best friends too, since he is quite the cook) I'll be the first to congratulate.
  23. The Greek god of walks had 5 BBs in a game today vs Detroit. Alexei doesn't even have 5 BBs for the entire season.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ May 15, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) If Pedro Alvarez makes it, he'll be a pearl in a cow chip. Then, he'll be dealt, like Adrian Gonzalez will. And he is not even their only good prospect in their system not to mention they will have another top pick. I'll say the Royals. They have Yost as manager, they trade away their good players for crap (though they have been better lately) and they dick around with their prospects alot. (Hochever minus 09-10, Gordon, etc..) Actually, now that I think about it.. Thunderbolt is right, the Astros are by far the worst.
