I wanna ask qwerty or kalapse (or whomever) this. Say we keep Konerko for the season, what numbers would he have to put up to be a Type A or Type B or what numbers would he have to put up to not qualify for it? (assuming barring a melt down he's got it) Only reason I ask this, is I don't think the return for him (if he's traded, and hypothetically speaking, he would be agreeing on the deal cause of the 10/5 rights) would be as good at all, and I personally don't think it's very smart to resign a soon to be 35 year old 1B to an extension but thats just me.

Ya the Thunder were younger, more athletic, hungrier team that gave the Lakers problems. I would not be surprised if this series goes no more than 5 games. (I still think Utah steals a game at home) Same thing with the Magic/Hawks. Magic is just a terrible match-up for the Hawks. I have no doubt in my mind they can crush Boston in a series as they match-up much better versus them.

Crazy ass day. Did Cardio Power & Resistance yesterday. Thought it can't get worse than that tomorrow. Then of course I do pure Cardio today. I'm proud of myself though. Did way more stuff this week and I did last, as I noticed my endurance is up and my will power is up. Still hard as s*** though (not to mention I've been cheating with junk food) but I'm proud as my sister's boyfriend gave up (gonna do the eliptical) so it's just me and my sis (who I'm proud of as well even though she's struggling) I got Cardio Circuit tomorrow. Up to Day 8. (Day 9 tomorrow)

Gartrell would be a solid utility OF. (possibly play all three OF positions, though more suited in the corners) Nothing more, nothing less, though he could POSSIBLY be a late bloomer. If that's the case, I can't see him fitting here. That's just my opinion.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 4, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Brandon Short vying for the 2nd best OF in our system with Trayce Thompson. I know Mitchell is hurt, but he ain't dead. I'm really, really liking Kyle Colligan.

Quick question. What was Gavin's pitch count after the 6th? I was literally screaming and calling Ozzie inappropriate names (my friend laughing) when he left him out there in the 7th when Gavin had literally nothing that whole game and managed to put up a 6 IP 8 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 2 SO line before getting slaughtered again. I saw the Getz hit, and thought Ozzie had enough sense to pull him afterwards when I turned on the dvd to do the Insanity workout.
-
All I have to say is about f***ing time Ozzie used the double steal. I've been calling for that for a while. Beckham could have 10 SB by now easily, not to mention we can score easy cheap runs like that.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) I think if he wins a title this year he absolutely stays. At the least if team looses he has an out by saying "I want to go to a place where I have a better chance of winning" Well, we'll see when it's all said and done, since your as wrong/right as I am in this.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) 60% sure that would be yes. I actually disagree. But we don't know him. Something tells me he would stay there until he brings his hometown a championship. If he wins it this year, I think he bolts for New York (since he "did his job" in Cleveland) and helps his favorite childhood team end a 50 year title drought there unless his ego wants to overshadow/overtake MJ for the challenge. (though I don't think his balls are as big as Kobes in that regard) Thats just my opinion though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Jones has already had issues with back spasms. We are going to have to baby Jones and Quentin through-out the season. They are both very IP through a grueling season. I hate Pierre with a passion, but the man is durable.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I guarantee you people would b**** for a very long time about trading Buehrle, but I don't think it'll ever happen so my guarantee really doesn't mean anything. About Adrian, it's the basic idea that winning in the Majors, winning in the playoffs, is what it is all about. Just look at the Phillies for the A#1 perfect example. They win the WS and it means they can give extensions to everyone they want, trade for Cliff Lee, trade for Halladay and extend him, etc. If that team doesn't win then they are in a very different position right now. If we traded the farm for Adrian now, then the picture you get right now when you think of the consequences in 2012-14 is not going to be anything like the real 2012-14 if we do our share of winning. Win first, then rebuild when you absolutely have to. There's a lot of love on the board for our AA and AAA guys and to be honest there's no one I have any faith in except Hudson and of the rest Viciedo is really the only one who intrigues me. Chances are the current crop isn't even enough to land Adrian, but if it is, it's a rarity for a player of that caliber to be available, so you just do it. If we win it all then nobody gives a s*** about the prospects we traded anymore. I don't need to reiterate Adrian talks, not to mention bring back up old threads, since we've had this discussion before. Some points I agree with, others I feel like you just don't get it. There is no secret we need another bat (Berkman looks better everyday) but right now, that won't happen this early. The Buehrle thing I do agree with however, and like I said, it will sting, but a winning product certainly helps.
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) For your second point, let's look at this logically. What does 1/2 season of Mark Buehrle get us in trade? Remember in 2007 when Mark was on the verge of being traded? Remember the crowds chanting his name? Remember all the backlash? And remember the Boston talks involving Justin Masterson or Michael Bowden as the centerpieces since they wouldn't include Clay Buccholz? L-O-f***ing-L at trading a pitcher and a franchise piece like Mark and then the ensuing backlash for either of those players. Give me the draft picks and, from a PR standpoint, the peace of mind that comes with knowing Buehrle walked. I've long said that Buehrle's trade value is very lessened on what he actually brings to teams cause he isn't the sexy "stuff" pitcher and such. If he's ever traded, the return won't be ever as good as he would bring to the other club and the sox brass knows this. I actually agree with you on trading Buehrle cause it would sting me personally, who you went alittle too far (much like your Adrian love fest) with the b****ing the fan base for 20+ years. Frank was the only player I ever thought would do that to a fan base, but he being a FA perhaps helped lessen the blow from people I've talked to here. It will hurt sox fans alot emotionally, but WC is right, if a winning product is on the field, it won't matter. People will still come out and support.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) He's already been worth 1.3 WAR so far, more than his entire season in 2008. Already in the second tier with guys like Maggs, Damon etc.. (Morneau, Pujols and Mauer are 1st tier)

Anyone got the lineups yet?

Bulls are supposedly really high on Thibodeau. Would have interviewed him 2 seasons ago, but the Celtics won the championship. Defensive minded guy who will help Rose's development in that area, though not sure about his play calling. I don't care THAT much who the Bulls hire as long as it's an up-tempo style coach which will help Derrick thrive in that offense and optimize his potential. Being a defensive coach can't hurt either. I like Corbin/Shaw myself, but I dunno if those guys are "NBA experienced" enough, though Gar said he has an open mind to anyone. Collins, Van Gundy (though controlling) Rivers and even Scott (CP3 loves him, said he helped his development when he coached, thats got to count for something) aren't bad options.

I never even heard of this kid until a month ago. What is he another youtube/myspace hit or something? I guess thank god my sister isn't 13.

Peavy was bringing it. Hit 95 a few times tonight. Saw him as high as 96 a couple of times.

Shirek having a John Ely type year for the Barons so far.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) It has suffered due to a combination of his performance and an injury. I could see him being available at #13. His shoulder is starting to scare me. I still love him, but I'm not drooling over him like I was a few months ago. Wouldn't be surprised if he turned into Prior as far as burning out. (thats if he reaches the majors before burning out) I would still take him if he fell to us though.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ May 3, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Poker Stars has plenty of free content. Actually pokerstars.net is completely free. Ya my little brother (all age 17 of him) loves that website. He is just fascinated by poker. I'm proud of him.. but I know he can probably whoop my ass since I haven't played in about 3-4 years.

Zoom I wanted to ask you personally. What coach would you want the Bulls getting judging by who is available? Would it matter in your eyes? I got my own couple, but I'll reserve judgment since I don't think it's THAT big of a deal.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hawks are now 4-0 with my boy Adam Burish in the lineup. Great win. I missed the entire 3rd period unfortunately (doing the Insanity program) but I caught Kane's empty netter.
