  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Why the heck would he bat 2nd? If you insist on putting him in your lineup then bury him at the bottom. Why are you asking me? If I had a choice, he wouldn't even see my lineup.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Vizquel... whatever, i give up, Ozzie. Hey.. at least he is playing the field! Ozzie wasn't kidding on giving him alot of at-bats this season.
  3. Quentin is back at DH.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 17, 2010 -> 07:21 AM) I rarely cook, but when I do I am actually quite good. It's actually a skill that is pretty nice to have. Oh believe me.. I wish I did, but I feel alot better that most men I know can't cook or are merely average cookers. We make fun of our friend, but when that guy cooks.. well.. lets just say he can be pretty popular with the ladies.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) I loves me some cashews. This, though I'm not as addicted to them as my brother or grandmother.
  6. The Stros had Bagwell and Ensberg basically destroy the ball that year, not to mention had a catcher put up a .351 OBP and having a couple of career years (and this was when Biggio was declining) and a great bench. Add to the fact that Clemens, Oswalt and Pettitte (Becke was solid and Rodriguez was serviceable and pretty much their entire bullpen) were amazing that year, they previously fired their manager prior to last season and added Garner, a bit better defensively, the National League effect and the fact they won the Wild Card (people always seem to think they won the division that year, and the W.C. is NOT comming out of the AL Central) pretty much ends the comparison.
  7. I had to see my mother at the hospital, so I missed all the games in each sport today (inc. this one) but did catch the last minute and glad Niemi was stellar.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Oh please, he made this team too damn soft during his time with the Sox. He was a teddy bear.. what did you expect? Guys like Cabrera and Getz can't talk ya know.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 16, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Gilmore with his first home run on the year! Stud. Haha.. glad I wasn't the only one who got a chuckle seeing that one on the box score. Shoemaker is on fire.
  10. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Somewhere in New York right now, Jim Thome is laughing. He is too classy to laugh. He is though probably shaking his head cause he knew he could help this team.
  11. I still don't like Floyd pitching behind Peavy at all. I personally think he and Danks should be flip-flopped.

QUOTE (Felix @ May 16, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) is there anything better than free bewer? Free va-jay jay is the only thing I can come up with that is as close.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) Is Beckham coming around slowly I hope? Well.. he has a 3 game hit streak. Baby steps... QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 02:14 AM) I'm assuming this is why Rongey has been nowhere to be found. He isn't posting much at WSI either. Though maybe he doesn't want to hear certain posters, who so far, have been right on about their observations about this team since the off-season here and not gloat in front of his face about it.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Cooked my first ever meal on my own grill tonight. Just wanted to say that. As a man who sucks at cooking and beyond most men everywhere (minus the pansies...er...cookers though I'm making fun of one of my best friends too, since he is quite the cook) I'll be the first to congratulate.
  15. The Greek god of walks had 5 BBs in a game today vs Detroit. Alexei doesn't even have 5 BBs for the entire season.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ May 15, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) If Pedro Alvarez makes it, he'll be a pearl in a cow chip. Then, he'll be dealt, like Adrian Gonzalez will. And he is not even their only good prospect in their system not to mention they will have another top pick. I'll say the Royals. They have Yost as manager, they trade away their good players for crap (though they have been better lately) and they dick around with their prospects alot. (Hochever minus 09-10, Gordon, etc..) Actually, now that I think about it.. Thunderbolt is right, the Astros are by far the worst.
  17. Thanks for the summary Balta. Missed the 9th inning, and hate to hear that about Thornton. Great comeback win tonight.. who knew? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2010 -> 12:18 AM) And we can't pitch Thornton in 90-100 games, he already was suffering from muscle spasms and it's only mid May. Yea... not good as he has alot of innings already in May. He will probably miss some time, so we will see what Ozzie does as far as a SU man (I'm going to assume Putz moves up to SU and possibly Pena takes the MR role, since we are easing Santos to the bigs)
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) Have you seen who the Cubs have played to this point? Like Balta pointed out, they're 0-5 against the Pirates. They're a very bad baseball team. And we are 1-5 against the Indians. What does that say about us? Hell the Cardinals just got swept by Houston. Might as well give the Reds the NL Central title. Sometimes a team just had another team's number during a season.

Heads just had to make this thread when all my pictures (inc. dogs) got erased on my computer. Even when you don't mean to, you kill my hopes and dreams you douche.
  21. Even though I hate having another day without baseball, (even if it's our boring team) a day off could be a blessing for some of these guys.

Knights lost 2-1 in a day game Carlos Torres pitched very well. Danks 1-4, 2B, K. Lillibridge 3-4, 2B. Flowers 1-3, BB Everyone else plays later tonight. Birmingham: 6:30 CDT Lowe W-S: 6:05 EDT Edwards Kanny: 7:05 EDT Hopps
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 15, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) It's not like he's been tearing apart the league for 3 years with no recognition or anything. He was great in half a season last year at age 28 on an awful team and coming into yesterday's game his OPS for the season was at .750 with 1 HR in his previous 131 PA. He hasn't done nearly enough to earn an outpouring of affection. Thats why he needs more love.. now give him some love you douche. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) How are we worse? Their sucktitude is just about equal. I would rather have 6 (though I could say 7, but I would be seriously "hyperboling" it if I included Castro's limited at-bats) guys in my line-up hitting .300+ with a sucky bullpen (minus a couple of guys) that can be fixed in a trade (if the GM was any good) over only 1 guy in my line-up hitting .300+ with half the bullpen sucking and half the rotation sucking anyday.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 15, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Juan Pierre has the second most ABs with RISP on the club, it's pretty ridiculous to be ok with him not driving any of those runs in just because he happens to hit atop the lineup, as a high average hitter he needs to be picking up hits in those situations same as anyone else in the lineup, it's simply unacceptable that he's 4 for 29 in RBI opportunities, that's WAY too many wasted opportunities. Given that he gets the most PA on the team he's going to get plenty of late inning RBI opportunities and he doesn't deserve a free pass in those situations just because he's a punch and judy hitter or a "table setter". Exactly. You can tell that to thw Twins how valuable Denard Span is not only hitting lead-off, but hitting with RISP.
