The actor who played Jesus was struck by lightning
HuskyCaucasian replied to HighHeat45's topic in SLaM
I had heard that before. On Sunday there was a "Make of..." documentery on PAX. IT was really great and apperently the lightening strike was really scare to those who saw it. -
After watching the coverage of this ball and the explosion, I am truely proud to be a Sox fan. This was one of the lamest things i have ever seen. I am really glad to not be assoiated with that group of fans. Sadly, i feel that all CHicagoins will get lumped into that grouping.

All I was saying earlier was that I can clearly see that who ever wrote that article went into it looking to rip it appart. They went in believeing it was anti-semetic and looked for all the evidence (big or small) to support his/her case. I do not believe he/she gave the movie a fair chance. I went into the movie expecting to see the Jews depicted as the worst people to walk the earth. After all, the media has made it seem that way. And when i walked out, I thought "I dont think they were bad people."

I was a bit confused as to why you posed me that question
-
To be fair, a lot of stuff was added for plot development. If we used STRICTLY the Bible and the Bible alone, the movie would have lasted maybe an hour and nothing would have been accomplished. You need to add other eliments to get the point across.

WOW! Ok, that is REALLY reading WAY too much into that scene. SOme people really need to relax a little and not assume that everything is against them. What I got out of that scene is that the high priest wants Jesus dead and doesnt really care about the money, hence why he threw it to him. Judas was not a rich man, there for he WOULD have picked up every possible coin.

Honestly, I really liked that. The cinematographer in me (I am a video minor in college) liked how it added to the moment.
-
I did exactly that. I wanted to judge this on my own accord. And to me, all the "anti-semtic" hype was totally unfounded. The only negative portrait of the Jews was a negative portrayal of the high council, which, by the way, was an accurate portrayal. They were the ones pushing for the death of Christ because he threatened their power. I really felt that excluding Pilot, the Romans were VERY negatively portrayed. Maybe deservingly, but of the 2, the Romans were the worst.

I just have to say, I just got home from the movie and it was really amazing. Now, to be fair this comes from a person who is deeply religious, so obviously I have a slightly differant view than someone who is watching it for content. It really is very moving if you truely believe that he was the son of God and died for all. It was almost hard NOT to be moved by it. I didnt cry like several people around me, but deep down it really touches you. You really do get an understand of what He really went though for all of us. Now, with that being said, YES it was very graphic. But not all the time. So, dont freak out about it being all guts, all the time. This woman died during the crusifiction scene, which is probably the most tame "graphic" part of the film. There are parts where you literally see flesh being torn from him. Moving... Yes. Graphic... yes. Worthing seeing by all who believe and those who have questions... absolutely.

I think what he was trying to tell Jay is that his artical was completly unprovoked. Frank came into camp all smile, but you would think from Jay thathe came in flipping tabels over. WhenFrank deserves it, I haveno problem with a column critisizing him. But, when it isunprovoked, dont write the column. Sammy deserved a beating morethan Frank.

The best seat I have ever had at a Sox game was in the upper deck, right behind homeplate, 2nd row. It gave me thebest view I have ever had. I could see everything!

Kerry claim to be clean and innocent, but the more people do research into him, he gets dirtier and dirtier. Know you know why I supported Dean, he was probably one of the cleanest canidates. And when it comes to a personal life vs personal life battle for the White House, Kerry will NOT beat Bush.

JULIE SWIECA resigns from the score?
HuskyCaucasian replied to southsideirish's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Nothing personal, but you are living in a dream world. I am a radio broadcasting student and I can tell you that radio is first and formost a buisness. If they arent making money, you get fired and they will try and find someone else to make them more money. This has become even more of a reality since big companies (Infinity and Clear Channel) have started to gobble up all the radio station. THey look at the bottom line. If they have to sacrifice "integrity, fairness, diversity" to make more money, they will. Yes radio has a responciblity to the public, but they are in it for the money. -

ahh but you see.... radio is a buisness. And in a buisness you go with what makes you money. Believe it or not, North brings in a ton of money because a lot of people listen to him. Believe me, if he didnt draw listeners, he would have been fired a long time ago. -

I finally convinced my dad to get a HD big screen TV for the family room, so I am currently researching them. Do you guys have any ideas? I want a rear projection for under $2000. Preferably between 44"-57" All ideas are welcome.

I really like that he has pitched 360 career innings in the minors. The old rule used to be that you SHOULD pitch around 600 innings in the minors before you get called up. Now days, it seems like 200 is too much in a day and age when you rush pitchers to the majors. So, I think one more year in the minors and he may be ready to step into the rotation and hit the ground running.
