QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) I think the difference here, really, is that the original Batman is a generation ago and told a very disimilar origin story, and that franchise derailed completely (see nipples and ice hockey vs Arnold Schwarzenegger), while Spider-Man still seems recent, and despite the fact that the third one sucked, people liked Tobey McGwire. Whereas Batman Begins was a true, needed reboot, the new Spiderman seems to be preparing to tell a nearly identical story, save rightfully using a web-tool vs having Spider-Man randomly able to sling goo from his wrists. Other than that, we've still got Uncle Ben, Mary Jane, etc, and what seems to be a very similar storyline, but with a different actor. It seems rushed, but I guess when you plan to make a gazillion Avenger movies you need a younger Spiderman. Thank you. That is EXACTLY what I was thinking, i just wasnt able to put it into words as well as you just did.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) And have the exact same years of experience and graduated from the same schools with the same GPA and work the same hours and have the same size class rooms? What are the odds? I am not goign to get into specific details. I just know they are comparable, but the pay is very different. I've even seen private school teachers leave the school they are at because they could get more in a public school in the same area.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) There are a lot of factors that could explain that discrepancy. Do you think everyone across the US makes the exact same amount of money with the title that you currently have? The people I know are in the same town/district area

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) I have no problem with teachers making a lot of money. They actually deserve to get paid a lot of money for the good they do. I am not saying they shouldn't be paid. Just showing the discrepancy.

Wait, they're already rebooting Spiderman?? Hollywood is clearly running out of ideas.

Apple release OS X Lion today. Also, discontinued the "MacBook" (keeping the MacBook Pro line), upgraded the Cinema displays, upgraded the Air, and took the optical drive out of the Mini.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) And I would avoid questions about compensation or other benefits. You can work those out once you get an offer. I say something along the lines of "This tends to be the uncomfortable question: but when is the proper time to discus compensation?" One of my interviews actually told me the pay (or the pay range) before I even interviewed.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) I usually ask what their time table going forward for the interview process is. ah yes, I have asked that one. Forgot to include it.

A bit of a random question: At the end of the three interviews I have had, they typically end with "do you have any questions?" The ones I normally think of are work hours, on-call time, and compensation (pay). Is there anything else I should be asking that I am not thinking of?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:07 AM) That's probably a good thing. I've heard he's really gone down the road of self-aggrandizement rather than what's best for the Egyptian legacy and history more and more in recent years. I am really hoping the new guy allows for some more exploration of the area around the Sphinx. I'm convinced there's rooms down there.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Had my interview this morning. It was a really great experience. The interview actually started with a brief tour of the campus to see the various classrooms and learning spaces that I would be supplying support to. I think I managed to keep the drool in my mouth. (These classroom technology setups are almost EXACTLY what I would love to install where I am now, but I have no budget to do that) By far this job has gotten me the most excited. I think I may have been one of the first interviews for the position, so I'll know in about 2 weeks if I got the job. Just got an email, they will be calling my references in the next few days. That has to be a good sign.
