2008 White Sox
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) question for the board. Now that Uribe is back and Richar is pegged as the early favorite for 2b, here's my question... how many .250 and below hitters, can this team afford to have, while still being able to compete for 1st place in the division? Rhetorical, right?

Cabrera Trade Speculation
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) SI's Heyman floats some names of the level the Marlins will be looking for. Cabrera has long been viewed as a budding Manny (though he's not the worker that Ramirez is). WOW. Just, wow. More of a slacker than ManRam? That's almost inconceivable.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 12:00 AM) I called it. I'll never forget the replay when A.J. Hawk rolled over his foot/ankle. Man it looked bad. Like I said, I would have been in utter shock if he just suffered a sprain. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3097173 Foot sprain likely to shelve Johnson for Broncos game

Another steroid user exposed...
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) I wonder how many A's from that time frame were on the stuff. There are so many connections with them from the early days of McGwire and Canseco, to Giambi, Tejada, etc, and now Guillen. A lot of Giants too. Williams, Bonds, Kent...?

Hard drive failure!!
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) Hey everyone, I have a huge favor to ask. My external hard drive is not working. I turn it on and all I hear is a clicking noise and the PC will not recognize the drive in windows explorer. I have tons of music and video files on the hard drive that I worked way too hard to compile over the last few years. Do you or anyone you know have experience recovering files from a faulty hard drive? Do you know anyone who does that sort of thing for a living? Please help me before I shoot myself!! Note: I definitely learned my lesson and will backup files regularly in the future. Thanks, BigSqwert Hillary's flying minions are attacking your motherboard.

Overrated, How does a player get that label?
True, but Garland will get better if he gets away from USCF.

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) 6 years. He may not last that long, but he is not going anywhere soon. I'm guessing 2 years, then ND suggests that he find an NFL job and opt out of his contract.

Overrated, How does a player get that label?
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) It also can start when organizations compare young guys to current players. Ron Schueler back in the day compared Kip Wells, Jon Garland and Jon Rauch when they were minor leaguers to David Cone, Kevin Brown and Randy Johnson. Didn't quite turn out that way. So while a guy like Garland has had a decent career and made a ton of money, I would suppose one could say he is/was overrated. Its a lot to put on a young guy, saying he reminds you of a guy who has had a great career. I think that Garland might be able to approach Kevin Brown's numbers before his career is over. Albeit, less Ks.

Overrated, How does a player get that label?
Someone paid more money and attention to than their production indicates that they should be.

New Television season
QUOTE(Cali @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) But there's a chance that the writers will go on strike on Oct. 31st, which will basically shut down production on EVERYTHING in hollywood. Every TV show will only have about half the season filmed. SO that would blow for employment and entertainment purposes. Pretty big chance, I'd say.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) Yea. He's from Dorchester. Had a messy time in his teens. At one point was charged with attempted murder and served time in prison. I loved him in that movie about the Jets player. Some Eagles fan somewhere will be pissed now.
