  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Or in the NFL. I think he belongs in the NFL. Just not at QB.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) LOL Seriously, were you aware that is all anyone can see there, is an ad for emotty cons? Really? Oh s***. I see the actual emoticon. Well I was trying to be funny. Disregard.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) You are greater than emoty.com free emoticons? shut up
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) I hate, hate, hate this argument. Who bats in what spot in the order should not be a consideration when building a roster. You build the best roster you can first, then you make the best lineup from that roster. If you do it backwards, you artificially limit your talent pool and end up with Juan Pierre. You can't possibly think he was serious?
  5. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) And funny, loud, and in your face. The Sox could just hire George Carlin or Sam Kinison or Redd Foxx or Rodney Dangerfield. I loved that guy. Just looking at him made me burst into uncontrollable laughter.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) If he walks into a restaurant I'm sure smiles break out. This should no doubt be a required prerequisite for any potential hire. I require smiles whenever said manager goes out in public.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) How about a CQ & Ozzie trade for Mike Stanton? That might just be worth it from our end. I'll wait for greg and elrockin's thoughts on this potential swap before I come to a conclusion. It is kinda risky from our point of view.
  8. Awesome. So if it's not Ozzie, Oney and that never-ending web of bulls***, or countless articles breaking down Adam Dunn's historical run of futility, we get Big League Stew havin' fun at our expense. lol. the 2011 season. I'll never forget!
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) It'd be a lot less funny if we didn't have the exact same effect happening regarding the invincible Tigers and their upcoming 18 year division crown run. Um, I don't get it? We're poking fun at the Twins when our asses are going to be watching the playoffs from home right along with them. I don't get much solace in the fact they've been a little worse.
  10. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Where the hell did you get that?
  11. Am I the only one (had to have been old enough of course) that enjoyed that '93 season more than '05? I can't explain it. Maybe because I was only 10 and it was still a 'kids' game to me at the time. This is when I also knew that the Sox, not the Bulls or Bears, had my heart. The Bulls had just 3-peated a few months earlier and I was nowhere near as elated as I was when the Sox simply took the division. I really thought we were going to take Toronto that year. The way Alvarez/Bere were pitching down the stretch, plus that Frank guy. f***!
  12. Can't go with one. For me it's Borchard, Rauch and Wright. I was about 18 when I first discovered Baseball America. And the White Sox's system was the talk of the magazine (much like the Royals of this past year) at that time. I got caught up in the Borchard=McGwire, Rauch=Randy Johnson hype just like everybody else. How could you not? Danny Wright was a guy that when he was on, he was dominant. I remember a few starts to close the 2002 season in which he looked every bit as good as the scouting reports indicated. Which, of course, I'm thinking he's 'figured' it out. Yeah, didn't go so well after that.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) That is far too many question marks for my liking. Sale will not be able to pitch the entire year, let alone effectively. Wasn't Santiago in A ball fairly recently? Plus he's had like 3 appearances for the big league team. Peavy is going to get hurt again. Stewart has been great or abysmal. Humber, as much as I want to believe in the guy, might just been a ticking time bomb. And Axelrod has one start. We're saying that we have 9 options? That seems rather optimistic to me. If we go 9-deep the Braves, D-backs and Rays go about 29-deep.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) That's assuming the Sox see themselves as contenders next year. "Hey, we got career worst years from a multitude of guys. We had injuries and a ton of bad luck. All that and here we are in 2nd place. If that's not enough reason to bring this bunch back next year, what is?" /Merkin /Hawk /Ranger /Random delusional fan
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 06:56 AM) I'm a huge Danks fan, but if 1) someone will take Rios and all or most of his contract with Danks and 2) Buehrle can be re-signed, then I'm all for it. Best-case scenario for the Sox is a massive pitching fail for the Yankees and/or Red Sox in October. And they would both wait until after next season when Hamels/Cain hit the market. Rios? Yeah, not happening.
  16. Yeah, don't need to get into why I love Mark and what he's meant to this franchise. Goes without saying. But if there's even the slightest of hesitation of resigning if Oz/Coop aren't here, then it's best he go else where. No one man is bigger than what's best for the franchise. Especially when that man is closer to a #4 starter than he is an ace and talks about retirement like he's 42 instead of 32.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Remember when last year nearly everyone here at ST were raving about how the Twins were in great position to keep dominating the AL Central? That was funny... It'd be a lot funnier if we weren't primed to finish 15+ games out of 1st place.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:38 PM) Way to go out on a limb I know. Not much of a revelation. But I'm talkin' 09 Mauer type s***. He won't hit .350. Other than that, he's on the cusp. And with his defense being where it's at now? You''re talkin' one potentially special player.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) I guess I'm very very slow tonight (I'll argue not this slow most days) He said "I still love Crede. All time great Sox player? No. But love the guy." I thought he meant he loved Crede, just disagreed on him being an all time great. I can accept it if haters say they do love the guy for what he did in 05. And a mod agreed with me we don't win it all w/out JOE CREDE. Lot of Sox fans love Crede. And nobody has discredited what he meant to the '05 team. You put him on an unrealistic or imagined pedestal, just like you do with Ozzie now and just like you did with Jermaine Dye (your refusal to admit he was a below average RF) and Bobby Jenks last year. In your mind, anybody from that '05 team is some sorta demi-god that is above and beyond any type of constructive criticism.
  20. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) He's only 20th because he's walked 66 times. He's only walked 66 times because he goes up there looking to walk. If he had any pride, Adam Dunn would give back some of the money he stole this year. You mean if he had an IQ of a raisin he'd give some of the money back.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) Why? I ... I liked your post. No lie. He's disagreeing with you, along with the rest of the board, yet you love his post while getting defensive towards everybody else.
  22. The Rays blow! Oh, well. Just go sweep 4 in Boston now. And Matt Wieters is going to explode next year. Mark my words.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Hyperbole? Look, the White Sox have won one World Series in 100 years or whatever it is. Without him ... we do not win that one WS! Conclusion: Yes, said player is a one of the greats in Sox history. Look at pro football. You rarely get a Hall of Fame sniff w/out a Super Bowl title. Joe Crede was crucial in us winning only WS in gazillion years. He is a Sox great. Is there any doubt now why greg wants Ozzie back? lol. 2005. That's it for him. Ozzie has to literally die first before he would support a replacement.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Well oh well. The ending is just how we started Kinda like last year when I think we won 9 of our last 11. "Ya know, we had Kotsay as our primary DH. So many guys struggled. Peavy got hurt. And we still found a way to win 88 games."
