  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) I bet he wishes he was a Bear now. Um, why?
  2. QUOTE (loidwalden @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) I have to get this off my chest. In last week's 7 to 3 victory over Cleveland, Ozzie refused to pinch hit for Dunne (3 or 83) agains a lefty. I love Ozzie. I'm glad he is our manger. But he screwed this one up. And worse, he explained it (as I understand it because I didn't hear this) by saying the guy is payed $14 million and therefore I'm going to use him. Before I even heard this feeble rationale, I thought about the fans at the game who paid good money, some hundreds of dollars, to see good baseball. This was not good baseball and there is no way to excuse it. Ozzie should be ashamed of himself and apologize to the fans who deserved more It really, really was a damn good post. Welcome.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Talking out of his ass again with absolutely nothing to back it up. But I bet he polled an assortment of acquaintances to come to that conclusion. Even if I liked Ozzie and thought he was a competent manager, I'd still want him gone just to see greg's reaction. It's gonna be epic if it happens. This board would never be more entertaining.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Cmon. The Phillies aren't going to win it every year from now until 2050. Atlanta scares nobody. Their chances of making the playoffs or better are as good as the White Sox IMO.
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) i was going to say, why would he want to go to the marlins(aside from the location and new park) since hes not going to win in that division but then i looked at the sox roster for next year and then i thought, nevermind lol The Marlins have, when healthy, one of the better young/talented cores in the game. Hanley Stanton Morrison Sanchez Johnson Nolasco Anibal Sanchez But like you said, that's the wrong division to be in right now. With the run the Phillies are on and that avalanche of talent Atlanta has on the horizon, everybody else is playing for third place.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) He really was this year. The last 2 years he's had that foot thing and that really cut his range...but aside from the "Getting hurt while playing the OF" part, he's really been adequate, if not more than adequate. It's not an exaggeration to say that he has been the best defender at his position in our OF. He's been average to slightly above average at his position, while Rios and Pierre were disappointing and terrible, respectively. I'd have to see it again next year before I could come close to deeming him adequate. He wasn't that good in LF in '08. But nobody cared about his defense then because he was putting up MVP numbers. You'll get no argument from me that he's been our best defensive OF. That's more sad than anything.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Good to have the CQ back. Hope he is with us next year. My book on him is an all out hustler 30 homers 100 RBI kind of guy and more than adequate in the OF. You need to rewrite your book. He's been a 30 HR/100 RBI guy once and he's certainly not more than adequate in the OF.
  8. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) He may not be ready yet, but we need to play him a lot these last two weeks and hope he leaves a good impression with potential offseason suitors. The book is out on CQ. Nothing that happens from here on out will change any perception of him. .800-.825-ish OPS, mediocre to bad defensively, and very much injury-prone. And about to get expensive very soon.
  9. Jesus, we're 10.5 out? I thought it was 8.5. With the way Detroit is playing, we could finish 15+ games out by the time the season is over. Not that it matters. But there's second, and then there's a DISTANT second. It's going to be a long climb up for this organization.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) That everyone agrees with. I really didn't mean it that way, though. greq is "unique," to say the least. Doesn't have to be a bad thing.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) SL > Pac-10 Still a good chance he'll make the Diamondbacks postseason roster.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Jordan, even out of frustration, that's a pretty clear personal attack violation. That certainly wasn't the intent. Harmless joking more than anything. If I'm frustrated by greg after all this time then I'm the one with the problem.
  13. Bag of Doritos: $3.19 40 ounce Mickey: $2.57 Dub sack: $23.00 (I tip my dealer) Asian porn from Direct TV: $5.99 A greg post: f***ing priceless
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Was scoring actually higher this year than week 1 last year? Not sure. But with the lockout going well into the summer and reduced training camps, it was believed the offenses would suffer more initially.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) The Bears and Ravens disagree Hence the "overall" at the end.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) Everyone here was excited for Rios. Our CFs were Wise, Terrero, Anderson, Erstad, Mackowiak and 50-year old Griffey Jr. prior to Rios. Of course there was excitement. But there was quite a bit of risk and potential downside. We've been b****-slapped with that risk and downside. Forgot about Swisher.
  17. The offenses, surprisingly, seem well ahead of the defenses overall.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) Only one was a signing... ...and all were great moves at the time. Rios wasn't. The Blue Jays wanted to get rid of his overpaid ass for a reason.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) If Detroit goes 6-10, a 17-0 run by the Sox makes it a tie. You gotta keep on believing. /elrockinmt
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Really ought to happen in October. I just assume if it happened it'd be after the World Series. But whatever the month, I don't think it's gonna happen.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) I can't wait until Ozzie is gone to rub it in your face. I really believe he's not going anywhere. I just can't imagine waking up in November or December and seeing the headline, "White Sox fire Ozzie Guillen." I just can't see it.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Not sure if it was "b****ing". More like finding unfortunate there weren't many good races with a month left. Still not sure this Red Sox/Rays is anything...talk to me in a week. 3.5 games with 16 or 17 left is still a lot. Red Sox: 2 vs Tor 4 vs TB 4 vs Bal 3 at NY 3 at Bal Rays: 3 at Bal 4 at Bos 4 at NY 3 vs Tor 3 vs NY If the Rays do it, that would be well earned. No doubt about it. But with Beckett, Bedard (what a shock) hurt and the rest of that rotation being mediocre at best, they have a decent shot. That 4-game set next weekend in Boston will obviously be critical.
  23. B.J. Upton with a slam. Rays up 8-1. lol. Only 3.5 behind Boston after today. Now people can stop b****ing about how horrible this September is because there are no interesting races. We've got two now.
  24. Strasburg pulled after 3 innings and 57 pitches. Really labored in the 2nd inning. FB was only hitting 92. Davey Johnson had to go out and check on him. Looked better in the 3rd inning. K'd a couple guys while the FB was topping out at 96. They obviously weren't going to take any chances. I could see them just shutting him down.
